Already have the hang of it. Been watching it for years.

I forgot, he's one of you're folks, before he moved to Iowa that is. He makes more sense than what we have down here alot of the time.

@52anddone , how do you like the Hussar?

So far (still on the first tank full) I Love it. I'm not used to that juice control though, and have accidentally twisted it Full On several times, and flooded the whole thing (I'm using a 60/40 PG mix), but that's My Bad, not the atomizer's fault. I can shut the air flow ring Off completely and get Virtually No air at all, but I leave it open just a crack, and use the 2mm air tube that also comes with it. It comes with the 2.6mm (measured) installed, and a 2mm (measured) air tube as an accessory. It gives me a nice smooth and quiet vape.

Edit: You can also buy a 1.3mm air tube for Real Tight MTL.

I'm coming to find that the majority of the vapers I've come across in the wild don't build or mix. I want to talk to real life hobby vapers that aren't just the Cloudz Bro guys at the b&m! Tragically a lot, too many, of the vapers I've come across also have no idea about the government battle with vaping. I knew pretty much from the get-go that I wanted to know everything I could learn, but I always need a hobby and this one makes me happy and healthier.

And to make it worse stores are at best misinformed and adjusting prices and at worst are relaying false information for profiteering. I was just in a shop in Phoenix who raised their juice prices 25% and said it was regulation that caused he price increase. There's nothing worse than vape shops profiteering with lies and ultimately screwing themselves. They said the battle is over and all gear is going away and juice prices already have to be raised. Wrong and wrong. I corrected the employee who said that's not what they were told by the owner. So I told them the owner is clearly not up on the latest information and there is no nicotine tax. They just raised prices. They weren't happy with me. Anyway I see his more and more. Prices being justified by regulations which as of yet in Arizona don't chase price increases.

Hard to say on the first, VL. ECF itself is probably not really representative of the general vaping population, but imo probably a "yes, we are. " Many don't want to put in the little extra work it takes. Vaping isn't really as simple a process as smoking, but I suspect there are lots who want to get it as close as possible in ease of effort.

Builders and blenders are both interested not just in saving $$, but are also more likely to be aware of the Dooming and the acts of various States and/or countries, so see building and blending as insurance.

I keep my coverage set pretty high

I agree with this completely. My focus has been back to mechanical lately after having a couple regulated mods fail. It just occurred to me that anything other than mechanical mods and building my own coils relies far too heavily on other things which may be taken away see taxes into oblivion. I don't mix from scratch but I buy full recipe concentrates. ($3-4 degrees 10 ml bottle mixes at 20-30% with nicotine base and is identical to pre mixed juice) I really think full recipe concentrate is he future. It's like

Buying lemonade ready to drink - premade juice

Juicing your own lemons and trying to get it to taste like your favorite brand - mixing from scratch

Buying frozen lemonade - full recipe concentrates.

There are big us vendors who don't sell their full recipe concentrates retail in the USA. They sell some to be mixed into
House juice and they sell overseas. This has to change.

So I have 600 ml of full recipe concentrate and a liter of 100 mg nicotine. I will eventually try to do full mixes but I don't love trial and error at that level. I'd. Need to start with highly rated clones of premade juice I already liked. Not jnterested in e-liquid: master chef edition

Would you guys say we're in the minority in vaping being that we like to rebuild? Also, did you start rebuilding right away?

I agree with you guys. None of the vapers I know, and I know a bunch, are interested in rebuilding. They want it as easy and quick as it was when they smoked. My local B&M has very few rebuild supplies but they have lots of coils and juice.

I've told them about the Deeming regs too and that doesn't interest them either. They've all told me that they'll deal with the issues as they come up.

I think to those of us on ECF who are into DIY it seems to be the norm because we stayed here to some extent because we found support in our interest.

I have no idea if we're the minority in rebuilding.
I found ECF after I'd been vaping for a bit.I first read about rebuilding here and after a few fubar kanger coils I thought I'd give rebuilding them a go.After finding my rebuilds better than brand new kanger coils I just kept going with them...then I got my first KFL then I found this thread and now here I am.

I still rebuild Kangers for my sister and just last week showed her the inner workings of one of my KFLs.

I have my favorite local B&M shop that I've been going to for a few years now, but I like to venture out to others. I bring my Nautilus mini with me because it's funny to see the reaction I get from them. I'm instantly treated like a noob.

Ive had many DL RTAs & RDAs in the past, but I have found that it takes a lot more skill to perfect coils and wicking on a MTL Rta to maximize the flavor with very little juice consumption. If your Vaping at 50w or 55w not much difference between the two. A 5w difference on a MTL tank is huge.

I reloaded some PT coils with cotton. Now if I could figure out how to do it with silica.

If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

What I did with silica (before I found cotton) was take about a foot of silica get some of the wife's nail polish and twist it into one end of the silica twisting it into a point.Let that dry real good. When dry take the pointy hardened end and thread it through the coil pulling it all the way to the other end and cut to length.
You only waste about an inch of silica and that's only after you've threaded a wack of wicks.

Learned that here on ECF....:)

I firmly believe that's part of the reason SubOhm vaping exists as it does today... BIG coils are easier to build. Virtually anyone can wrap 22 AWG on a 3 mm screwdriver... some can even count to 10. Slap that puppy into a 30 mm deck, and torque down the big ol' screws... There's a bit more skill and finesse required to wrap something resembling stiff, coarse hair on a hypo and installing it - without distortion - into a casing the size of a pencil eraser, or fastening down with screws that are so small the slot is only found by feel.

And, the other way is to double the silica over and use a thin piece of kanthal to thread it through the coil.
