And, the other way is to double the silica over and use a thin piece of kanthal to thread it through the coil.
I had to do that the other day. For the life of me I couldn't get my coil wicked, so I used a piece of kanthal to make a needle threader!

I noticed that on the STM RBA the pre-installed coil only makes contact with 1 side of the screw. Isn't it best practice to wrap the wire around the screw as much as possible?

Since the STM uses a large flat head and has the shoulder to help trap the wire, one side only is just fine. It will clamp and hold the wire without being wrapped around the screw. On decks without that shoulder, wrapping is a good idea.

I have my favorite local B&M shop that I've been going to for a few years now, but I like to venture out to others. I bring my Nautilus mini with me because it's funny to see the reaction I get from them. I'm instantly treated like a noob.

Ive had many DL RTAs & RDAs in the past, but I have found that it takes a lot more skill to perfect coils and wicking on a MTL Rta to maximize the flavor with very little juice consumption. If your Vaping at 50w or 55w not much difference between the two. A 5w difference on a MTL tank is huge.
Yup and yup!

I had beem vaping for a few months when I discovered ECF. It was sp nice NOT to be treated like a noob here because every time I stopped in at my local B&M they looked at me like I was an idiot.

Can't stand vape snobbery! What a joke.

Gotta say that I am not liking the hate being dished out to B&Ms... almost ALL of my shopping is now done at local stores (I'm rural, so local means within a 100 mile radius), and most stores around here are staffed by relatively competent people who are open to discussion. The most local is managed by a 50ish gentleman who is VERY knowledgeable and vapes every which way. I've watched him ask lots of questions of incoming vapers - almost an interrogation lol - to attempt to tailor their vapes for them. Yeah, they're overpriced, but, again, we're rural... ain't much not overpriced when compared to the big city.

Can't speak for AZ, of course, but regulations HAVE impacted a lot of things in AR... a lot of companies will no longer ship to AR because of regs, and those that will charge a bit more because of the AR fees they are required to pay.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, instead of getting hurt feelers, try to talk... to educate... it'll make you a better communicator, and make them a better B&M.

I have to agree Shawn. I LOVE my local vape shop as well. When I walk in there, I'm always greeted with a smile and "hey! How are you?" They answer my questions without treating me like I'm stupid and go out of their way to help. I love those ladies!!

I have NO problem with local B&M shops. I have a problem with snobbery in any form.

Once ordered a Blue Moon at a craft beer place and asked for an orange slice in it and got this from the bartender... "we don't conform to that" with the snobby nose in the air... so you will sell me a blue moon but not put an orange slice in it... get out of here, its freakin' beer!

You can also actually wind a coil directly around the silica. Just make sure you use a pin on top of the silica to give it some room.

Just don't mind if your desk ends up looking like this ;)

Oh I have my favorite B&M I'm there every week and they guys there are great. Very helpful and cater to the new vapers. I got my first set up there over 2 years ago. There are like 7 shops in a 20 min range from me and I always send someone who is just getting into vaping to that store. They won't sell mechs to anyone who doesn't know what there doing and they don't try to sell you the most expensive kit they have. Say your a menthol ultra light 100 cig smoker, your probably not gonna walk out of there with a Alien 228w with a Baby Beast on it. Probably a Nautilus or a Joytech AIO of some sorts. It's not as big of a sale but with good customer service there gonna keep coming back for juice and coils and eventually more hardware. A good shop will never forget how confusing it can be when you first start vaping.

I don't rebuild on a desk. I wind coils, rewick tanks etc sitting in a chair in the living room while watching tv. It keeps my hands busy which is a MUST if I'm sitting down. Otherwise, I'm not sitting down. For some reason, I have to be moving.
