Knowing what the items were might help... pm if necessary... I often get promotional samples in the mail...Sorry in advance that this is so long, but I've got a real mystery on my hands, and I'd like any/all input anyone can provide to hopefully help me figure this out.
Got a package delivered by USPS today, Sunday @ 2:17PM. Had my full name and billing addy on it. Was a bubble envelope, with what sort of felt like maybe a DVD box inside it...with a Lexington, KY return addy on it.
I knew it wasn't vape mail I'd maybe forgotten I'd ordered, but I haven't ordered anything else recently.
Brought it in the house and just put it aside until about an hour ago. Remembered I hadn't opened it, so I did. It contained a fairly flat box with 2 items in it that I have no use for, wouldn't have ever ordered, and definitely didn't pay for! There was no packing slip of any kind in the bubble envelope nor in the little box.
First thing I thought was...well, maybe 1 of my CC got hacked, and to cover their butts, someone had these things sent to me at my billing addy of record, but had much more expensive things sent to a different address. So I called my CC company and asked about both of my accounts. Nope...no unusual activity nor transactions I didn't know about. So Whew...at least that was good.
Did a Google search for the 1 word company/brand name on the Return Addy on the bubble envelope, and got many results...most of which just matched the 2 products in the box. There was NO company/corporation with that name though...in Lexington, KY.
I then searched by the address only, and it popped up that it's an Amazon Fulfillment Center there. I haven't ordered anything from Amazon since about 2009!
So:
Why did I receive these items that I never ordered or paid for? I know for certain no relative sent them to me, nor any of my friends.
How/why did Amazon "pull up" my full name & mailing addy, and associate it with someone else's order evidently, to ship these items to me instead?
Any ideas? Anyone ever had this happen to them before?
If they were vaping items, I probably wouldn't be so surprised, or if they were from a company I regularly deal with, because I order a lot online. But they aren't vape related at all and I don't even GO on Amazon.com any more!![]()
Well, then, what you have there is a goof.Items are:
Linholl Li GS04 huawei honor8 black 2PC
Anti-Scratch Shatterproof Glass Screen Protectors

Probably a goof in Amazon's order fulfillment process... a shift of one record in a database...Yes, I agree, but how? I haven't ordered from Amazon in more than 8 years (was Jan. 2009 last order). How did MY full name and addy from back then...get associated with someone else's order...most likely placed online just last week?
I mean...when I place any order online, it asks right there on the Checkout page for my full name and billing addy. Aren't we filling that out under the assumption that it is THEN used for the mailing/shipping label?

I'm quite sure their order fulfillment database and their billing database are very separate lolWell that certainly doesn't make me feel like my info that's still in their database is very secure then!! If it was my name and addy this time...what's to say it couldn't be my, or anyone else's...phone number, CC info., etc. that gets associated with the wrong person's account another time and another, etc.? I'm not happy about this at all, and will definitely be contacting Amazon this AM.
ETA: Thanks for the help, Shawn. I appreciate it! Didn't mean to come off like I was "killing the messenger" so to speak. Sorry if I did.
Nope... no ringtone, no music app, no alarm tone, no known website. Two questions about your story - Have either of you, or any phone tech., ever been able to make your wife's phone play that same Twilight Zone theme since that happened? Or have you even tried to get it to? I know it would drive me nuts, and I'd have to!
How interesting. Thanks for sharing that article!Appears to be somewhat relevant...
