When I get to the end of this week, that's what I'm gonna do. Then every time I get the urge to smoke I'll open the cabinet and say "&$%#@^&%# you lousy cigarette!!! And Atcha says @^#%$@&#% too"![]()
You can say it for me as well. Or to me if you like.

Dang. I was looking at charts like that but they seemed to be too good to be true. I thought it would be more difficult than that.
Let's start with the wire thickness, the higher the number, the thinner the wire. You can use thin wire ( 30 or even 32 gauge) to build your coil. The advantage is high resistance with a relatively small number of wraps and fast heating. The thicker the wire, the more wraps you'll need to stay above 1 ohm resistance. That translates in the need for more power to heat the coil or it will take a rather longo time to heat. You can look at a chart of AWG for an easy reference.Hey! I finally have a stupid question, woo hoo! How do you determine the diameter of wire for building coils by the gauge number? I have a velocity style deck with 2.95 mm holes in the posts, and I want to make sure that I get wire that will fit in the holes, but I want to make an above Ohm build on the thing. So...should I be going for thicker or thinner wire to keep the resistance up and what gauge should I be looking at to fit into the 2.95 mm post holes? I want to tootle puff on my velocity style deck.

Think of wire like a hose, the bigger the hose diamete, the easier water will flow (less resistance )

Also, am I reading that correctly, that thicker wire (lower number) is giving you higher resistance? That's how I thought it would be but I want to make sure.
To get dual 3ohm coils (to wind up at 1.5ohm total resistance) you are going to have to use fairly thin wire, or a large number of wraps.I should also say that I'd like to play with a dual coil set up that I can keep above Ohm, in the 1.5 Ohm-ish range even, although I realize that doubling your coils halves your resistance. So a 3 Ohm coil that would fit in a 2.95 mm post hole would be nice.

Examples -
32awg with a 2.5mm dia 7 wraps per coil would be about right. At 3mm it would take about 6 wraps. At 2mm it would be 8 wraps.
26awg - now you need 30 wraps at 2mm, 25 at 2.5mm and 22 at 3mm

I'm confused. The bigger the wire the more resistance. So wouldn't that be opposite of a hose?Think of wire like a hose, the bigger the hose diamete, the easier water will flow (less resistance )
The bigger the wire cross section diameter, the lower the resistance. The bigger the wire length, the higher the resistance. There now, it's clear as mud!I'm confused. The bigger the wire the more resistance. So wouldn't that be opposite of a hose?
Hello
My name is TomCatt ... and ... uh ... well I'M A TOOTLE PUFFER!![]()
I've always been a Tootle Puffer, even back in the good old days when I was building my own box mods.
I vape strictly DIY peppermint at ~2.5 ohms and 6.5 watts. I've been doin' it since shortly after I started vaping and dang it, I'll keep on doin' it!
It's just
12% Perfumer's Apprentice Peppermint (3.6mL in 30mL)
1% PA Sweetner (0.3mL in 30mL)
in 70/30 PG/VG
If you use pure peppermint oil (I have), you use 0.36mL in 30mL - actually with the syringe I use to measure, I just use 0.35 mL since that's what graduations I have to work with, same difference
I've been holding steady at 5mg for the past 3+ years

I would recomnend against pure essential oil.
