No. 24 is lower resistance than 26, and 26 is lower than 28 or 30.

Tge numbers goes up and the resistance goes up then you get to a 30 gauge abd almost impossible to sub ohm unless you only have 1 or two wraps

Also, am I reading that correctly, that thicker wire (lower number) is giving you higher resistance? That's how I thought it would be but I want to make sure.

I know but it is still going in your lungs and could be dangerous.

It's always a good idea (which I follow most of the time :D) to wear nitrile gloves (the blue or purple "rubber" gloves - can get them at a pharmacy or paint/hardware store) when DIYing. Besides safety, it cuts down on sticky/stinky hands :)

What i go by is the rising resistance.

As you go the resistance will slowly raise.

My current coil started at .77 and has raised to a .8 when it raises .2 ohm to .97 i will toss it thats when flavor drop is noticible to me. But i use Kanthal. Dont dry burn Nickel or Titanium.
Pretty similar here, although a different value.

coils will gradually increase in resistance with use. That's normal, and it can take a long time. Smaller wires will "fade out" quicker. When it gets to a value that's not in a range you want, build a new one.

Being a "high ohm low power" vaper, I build to 1.5. When they approach 2 ohms, I'll build anew. That's just MY preference - adjust to what your like.

To avoid snipping off a leg taking out a gunked wick.... well, being careful does work most of the time. But a dry burn will get it out in a hurry! Just do it over a sink, so you have somewhere safe to blow the burning debris ;)
Um, yes, specifc model KF would help, as there are several...

If the leaks were straight down the 510, perhaps it's insulator (o-ring) was damaged. Other leaks are generally from a bad tank o-ring.

Having had to run the 510 in further than on others may just be a manufacturing variance - or, as you suspect, an actual manufacturing defect. Or the screw itself may jost be a tad longer than is normal. But not usually a problem unless it "bottoms out" and you can't get the deck to be solid. (Or the pin has to go in so far you can't make contact.)

On your mysterious air leak... with it fully assembled (empty), cover all air intakes and try a gentle draw. If you get ANY air coming through, yes, you have a leak. With a bit of luck, you'll be able to hear where it's coming from, and go from there.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

(and copying this to your thread - Classy's right, as usual! )
Think of wire like a hose, the bigger the hose diamete, the easier water will flow (less resistance )
Guys your posts are excellent. I learned a lot reading them tonight. Thank you!

You're absolutely correct Bea. And that bridge over the Atchafalaya basin is always the bridge that warms my heart. Because I know I will be close to my family when crossing it.

I really like that bridge too. I've crossed it a few times and every time I want to park the car by the side of the road and just look at the scenery around. Very pretty!

I'm Cajun. My mother and father were both Cajun.

So do you speak Cajun French?
Hello

My name is TomCatt ... and ... uh ... well I'M A TOOTLE PUFFER!

I've always been a Tootle Puffer, even back in the good old days when I was building my own box mods.
I vape strictly DIY peppermint at ~2.5 ohms and 6.5 watts. I've been doin' it since shortly after I started vaping and dang it, I'll keep on doin' it!

Glad to help Bea. Maybe you will tootle on a Kompact Kayfun

I have a K+ lite and the bell cap and other spare parts. I bought it all a year ago after you and I talked about it.

But trapping those damn leads takes forever :( so I don't use it. It's in my stash. Believe it or not I have no trouble coiling the itty beetys for GS Airs so that's what I do since I just love those tanks anyway

You can tootle puff on it but it wont have tge flavor of a Kayfun or other flavor chasing atty because the velocity has bigger chamber and restricted airflow.

Know because i tried with a Velocity 2 mini when i thought i would have to give up on my Kompact Kayfun because it was getting to be a pain in the .... to build. Then @ToolmanTexas. Told me about tge replacement screws on Amazon.

I got a set of hex screws from eBay yesterday's. I think the heads on the Amazon screws are better though.

That's cool. I'm not really looking for a flavor chaser build. I want to (primarily) recreate a smoking sensation and I'm willing to give up flavor to do it. I even order flavored juice at high NIC and 100% PG, then add VG to get the numbers I want, and I'm happy with that in the tanks that I use for MTL. I already have hardware that lets me flavor chase or cloud chase if I want to do that. I'll play with it occasionally and throw in juice that's already set up for it. It's nice when I feel like it. But the biggest thing for me is making sure that I stay off of cigs and fiddling around with various MTL set ups seems to work.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend! I'm wondering if one of you really knows your kayfuns would be willing to help me identify a couple of mystery KF's? I don't want to clog up the thread, so please PM me if you're willing/able to help. Thanks much![emoji4]

Ok, great! Here's the first one. I may have asked before but don't remember the answer. I have boxes to put them in now that I'll identify with the correct version.
If you guys are wondering why I don't know which one they are, it's because i didn't buy them:
ETA; Tapatalk is having trouble uploading photos, I'll try again in a minute
