Gearbest is off the list for me, they did something that was in their TOS, but it really annoyed me. I mean, it was my fault, I inputted the wrong address unknowingly but it STILL seems unfair that they wouldn't let me pay again for S&H, but no, they kept my money AND my product. It was in their TOS, which I now read over rather carefully.... I was annoyed too, it was a tank I really wanted to try, Oh Well. I guess you get what you pay for though...

Anna
Had they already shipped the product?

I MUCH prefer FT to all of the vendors but I've bought quite a bit from both GB and 3F.

That's total BS! I'd avoid them too!

They had, and I was using paypal which I hadn't used in a LONG time because I heard they were easier to work with in case of disputes... I ordered once from 3F and it was a good experience. I even went to my old house to see if it had arrived, and it had and they returned the package to sender. I know the folks that bought the house, so I'm sure they did that, and I'm pretty sure Gearbest got their product returned to them. I guess it may be hard to track such matters, but I believe it to be possible, but they wouldn't entertain any offer I offered them, and then "captured" my funds, so I was like, F it. At least it was only about $20. In contrast, IMRbatteries had the same thing happen and refunded everything, including shipping, and just had me reorder, and even sent it 2 day shipping for free. IMRbatteries is the best. :)

I don't blame them since it was in their TOS, but I won't use them again, either. I'm very capable of screw-ups of all kinds, so I didn't want to risk it, and they were really snippy about it, too. I would've been happy to pay the return shipping AND reshipping, and I told them that. But no.... :) It's okay, I'm over it, and fasttech is really my preference at this point. 3F was good, also.

I can understand that for sure and with the language barrier (and other factors) you are NEVER going to get the kind of customer service you can potentially get in the states. I'm surprised that Paypal didn't refund your money if you opened a dispute. I got my money back from 1 vendor (none of the ones mentioned) as well as my cost to reship product back via PPs dispute feature.

That said, this seems a rare case and while I can understand you not wanting to use them again, I've ordered many items from GB at fantastic prices, especially during their sales, and had great service and product at very low prices. So I would encourage ordering carefully but don't write them off for others. Just my 2c.

And ALWAYS use Paypal for purchasing from China.

I didn't open a dispute because it was in their terms of service. I kind of figured that it was my error. I'm not saying they are a bad company, but they are a bad one for *me* because I can get airheaded. :) They do indeed have great prices and I would have gotten a great product very inexpensively. Like I said, I don't blame them, but they'd have to have something absolutely insane around to get me to reorder from them. I think they have the right to have terms of service and abide by them, but it does seem unfair to penalize a mistake I was willing to Pay For, and that kind of TOS either means that it's too much of a hassle due to order volume to deal with an error, or that they like to Capitalize on Errors. Since I am error-prone, I decided to stay away....

Hence some of those other factors I was mentioning... pretty good for a communist country :)

Seriously, remember these people are very new to capitalism so there are quite a few more lessons for them to learn. and yes, losing a customer is one of those, I would never disagree.

I just got this email from Bank of America. Has anyone else received a similar email? I'm assuming it's for vaping purchases as that's pretty much the only stuff I buy online that's not through Amazon

I've gotten that from Bank of America before when I've used a merchant that has had their business compromised. It usually means that they genuinely have had a report from a business that their CC system has been hacked, but I think they sometimes do it as a precaution if they feel you've ordered a lot of stuff from the internet esp. overseas, that happened to me early on when I made some "overseas" purchases. It could be a real thing or just their attempt to ward off what they might feel might be fraudulent action that you haven't reported. They're usually fairly quick about issuing a new card, but it can be a PITA.

Ya, I remember getting one of those notices a long time ago, (back in the 'dial-up' days)
and then I got a notice of a $0.02 charge (which the bank refused) and my card went dead.

It would be nice to know who the "undisclosed merchant " is so I can avoid them in the future!

I believe banks that get such alerts from merchants have different policies about disclosing it if they go to the bank directly, so that such merchants AREN'T avoided in the future.... I'm not sure what BOA's policy is, but you could certainly call them and ASK for the name of the merchant. They may either politely inform you that they don't do that, or tell you that you bought a lot of stuff online and they were afraid that your card had been compromised, but didn't want to ask you first. It's easier to cut off the card than track down the person and ask them if they are celebrating a vapersary, LOL. So, you may not get an "answer" either way.... BOA is pretty proactive about "possible fraud" these days.... They're on the hook for it, not you, so they don't care about your personal convenience. I always call them if I'm travelling so I don't get my card cut off mid trip. That is REALLY unfun.
