I use Tri-Focals, so need a bigger lens area for the 3 focal areas, so not about style, but usefulness. :)

LOL, you look like you belonged in the JCPenny catalogues from the 70s.

ChelsB, sorry the paint is flaking already, that sucks! :(

I wish I had funny pics of myself to post, but my mom has them all hoarded away in photo albums. That's okay, you want to talk about big glasses? I got my first pair when I was about 5. I got contacts as soon as I was able, and I don't miss glasses and what they did to the bridge of my nose... I was the proud wearer or Bubbles type glasses, you know? Was told at one point I might go blind, but fortunately the progression of my eyes deteriorating slowed considerably.

Mine are varifocals and I had them as small as I could get away with - ideally I'd like them slightly smaller 'cos I'm only a small person :2cool::D

I'm a small person too! The pair I own, I got 4 yrs ago and they came from the kids section because of my small frame.

I was planning on mixing up some juice testers tonight. Take the nic out of the freezer, get the flavors out. go downstairs to get a few more bottles and my water heater is leaking.

That sucks! We replaced ours a few years back....so another 7 to 10 years to go.

The water heater is *right next* to my vacopalypse closet... Sigh. It's enclosed, but the husband just did stuff to it recently, do not ask me what. It still seems to be going strong. The only vape related thing I have on the floor is my VG base-- it's too heavy for me to store it anywhere else. I may have overbought, LOL. Sorry to hear about the water heater, I so hate it when appliances go bad....

Glasses? I got a set of progressives about 3 years ago... they're trifocal with a gradual change in focus.

Water heaters? Ours is chugging along. I know it's more than 7 years old as that's when we bought the house. The O2 sensor and igniter is bad, but I broke the glass when I was making a repair, and it works fine with a match.

Bad pictures? Not happenin'

In my almost 61 years I've never been to an eye doctor...Over the years I've been to the drugstore and purchased a few pair of reading (magnifying) glasses.
My problem is I got to the stage of needing different glasses for different things (mid distance and reading). I got so fed up with forever swapping from one pair to another, I went for varifocals which are sooooo much easier .... and to keep on the vaping topic, I definitely need them to see the screens on my mods :D

+1 for progressives. Just tilt your head to focus them in.
I'm waiting on a replacement pair now. Back in February I got my 1st progressives and found out I carry vision insurance at both of my jobs. They ran the numbers on both so I could pick the best deal. So last week I'm riding the Harley to work and I've been dieting so my jacket is a couple of sizes too big, and the inside pocket isn't as secure as it was when the jacket fit well. My glasses ended up somewhere along I-72. My exact replacement pair will be ready Saturday, and ran on the other insurance, costing me a whopping 3 dollars more than the last ones.
Until then I'm just switching tanks when one gets gunky so I don't have to rewick while blurry.

I was just stopping in before going to bed because I have been very busy (in good and bad ways) lately. But I will leave you with a 3rd grade school picture of myself from 1975 to make fun of. I couldn't sit still long enough to get a haircut that didn't look like it was performed with a chainsaw. I'm missing one of my front teeth. I'm wearing a blue crushed velvet vest and matching pants. And a shirt that looks like Walt Disney threw up on it. I finally got around to scanning it and adding it to my hard drive. I was straight up pimpin'. Enjoy:

lol...luckily, your description is much more gruesome than the actual photo. I suspect we all have such hidden gems lurking somewhere.

Yup.

Don't care for the blended / varifocal type, mine have lines. The work I did before retiring made it sometimes unsafe to move my head to get things in focus, where moving just my eyes was ok. Turning your head when it's inside a 480 volt switchboard can lead to unwanted contact... and that was about the lowest voltage I worked with!

I had vision correction surgery in 2009, it was amazing. A miracle, really, took like 10-15 minutes and I could see immediately, after 30+ years of being blind as a bat. I was tired of my glasses sliding down my nose while I was massaging (the last thing you want to do is touch near your face after rubbing your hands all over someone!). It won't stop age related vision deterioration but it was still worth it, I can still see 8 years later. I may pick up some mag glasses for coil building, right now I use a jewelers loupe to check the tiniest stuff.
