The plastic body feels (and is) cheap. But, it works fine... kinda durable, too... surprisingly...

I'm not attached to metal construction. The plastic would likely take quite a beating and still be presentable. I just looked up specs and it's a wee bit fatter than the Macro but also a wee bit shorter. Would have to be all black for me.

How's the connection between the battery case and the body?

It's challenging at best, Pletts. The longevity of this mod is prolly not going to win any awards. It's held together by little plastic tabs. I've already experienced a huge issue with the USB port coming loose, and the faceplate disengaging.

I still like the damm thing tho!

Dropped one of the two I have a few times on concrete, might be lucky, but I was impressed it did not break, battery pack separated, but no break. When you remove USB cord if you sort of pinch it (push with fingertips as you pull with fingers) it stays fine. I do know what your talking about though, happened to me first time I USB charged it.

The reason WHY I will soon have two of these little cuties is exactly that. I wanted to solely use the USB for batt charging due to the lack of integrity of the body itself. But now that my USB port resides in some mysterious crevice INSIDE the mod....... le sigh.

cc, wish I had just ONE tinkering bone in my body. I actually did attempt to open the thing up, but the little silver tabs on the side started getting really wonky and loose. In fact, it took quite a while to get one of them pushed back in, and I never did get the body open.

Hmm. Macro has better charger too (that matters for us simpletons that use USB charging exclusively).

Yes, believe it is a 2 amp chage if I remember the specs correctly.

Don't try to remove the full panel, just the bottom by the USB, just pull it out a little bit, remove battery pack so nothing to short, you can get a tweezers in the edge to pry the edge slightly, place the USB board back in the holder slots, it just sort of sits in place. pop the face back on. One caution, two small little plunger type plugs push into the up/down button, carefull not to lose them, they just push in place. You can see one white plunger in pic, its stuck to board side of button, other one bounced around my floor, took me 10 minutes to find the little bugger!

Would have shot a few more pics but cam batt died, lol

I'm really on the fence about the Hana One. Worst case I end up with a couple DNA40 boards for possible future fun. As I normally use a rugged tube, these would be quite a departure, but the funky nature of it is tempting. And the price!

Polar opposite, nothing is disposable, except wick and wire, helps to enjoy tinkering though.

That's the thing. I don't have the skill set to diagnose and replace parts on a board. I do take them apart to see if it is anything obvious.

Who would actually bother buying a DNA 40 in 2017? You can get a DNA 75 for the same price.
Maybe they never go over 40 watts
Maybe they like the way it looks
Maybe they dobt want to mess with escribe software.
Maybe tgey have a Mac and can't use the Escribe software
Maybe they just want one
