@MikeADore I honestly didn't even think about that! May not be a bad idea. My partner had a GS-Air tank and we both didn't really like it, though. We may have just been unlucky with the coils we purchased, and sort of stopped using it after two boxes that could have easily both been duds. Some were OK. Might be worth a shot again. I know the GS-Air range is really fairly popular and the price is right.

@Kenna not a bad idea, but IMO "beauty" rings are anything but :( Still, a distinct possibility to be able to use what I already own at least. Also, good to know about the KFL + v2. I have some reading to do.

@kad2371 Actually, I think I do know where to get them if I want to go that route. I still have a couple lying around too. I just never really loved rebuilding them; I never found them to work so great that way, and a lot of times any burnt taste stayed around even with cleaning and removal and rebuilding etc. But yes, thank you, that's good to keep in mind!

@wvducklady I would highly recommend the nano if you like your Mini. At first I just got it because I figured it would be good to have cross-compatibility with the coils (and it is) but it turns out it's a slightly different vape IMO. Because the base is smaller, so are the airholes. Wide open on the nano is more restricted than wide open on the Mini, and so on. It gives a really good vape with the most current coils, so much better than the originals out of the box IMO. And yeah about the clapton! Good luck trying to fit that into the RBA, but I'm sure you could do it if you unravel the ends especially. The prebuilt .5 clapton coils are really excellent and hold up so so so much better at higher wattages than the original .5s. But of course that's no tootle puffer gear!! That being said, the (comparatively) "higher resistance" coils-- the 1.2 and 1.5s-- pair very well with the more restrictive airflow of the nano. I actually have a 1.5 in there right now :)

Out of pure curiosity, is your STM RBA the same as out of the box, or did you drill out the channels or make any modifications? Mine is the same as out of the box and works just fine, but definitely does better with slightly higher resistance builds.... it doesn't wick quite fast enough for anything much lower than .8ohms unless I go 50/50 or more PG.

And then just as a general comment I did find a list of tanks/RBAs with their diameters, so I have a few other ideas now though some are no longer really available or otherwise out of my price range.

I really love my Kanger STM (Sub Tank Mini)! It has an rda deck option too, and it is way better than the coils in my opinion! It is my favorite tank besides my Smoktech FBC tank (a tootle tank). Some day I want to get an extra STM for back up, because I would cry without mine! Lol

jus cause you mentioned it
wonder if you know/used a 'bell-cap' for the subtank mini
I have several and love using them
so simple and light (no tank cracker juices please)
sorta turn the STM into another animal...

That's true. Once you get it cleaned of machine oil and get it into vaping shape all you do is invert it, unscrew the coil deck and fill it. Some people like to fill it by removing the top cap or smaller cap that holds the drip tip. I like to use the coil deck method. It gives me a chance to inspect the coil and wick, and dry burn and do a wick replacement if needed. You don't have to worry about air hole leaks that way.

Boy your right about the machine oil. Took me 4 try's to be happy enough to keep vaping it. I washed it, vaped a tank, cleaned and repeated 4 times till I was satisfied it was all out.

So I DO still tootle puff, but I'm really more of a SubTootleWhomper. I do it all, and recently haven't been tootling as much. Here's the question:

If you could recommend ONE topper that really shines anywhere from 6-20W (preferably more in the middle, say 10-12?) and isn't too expensive-- i.e. no Kayfuns unless you've got a clone you really love!-- what would it be?

I rebuild, so if there's an RTA or RB/DA that you think does particularly well with higher-resistance builds, let's hear it. Replaceable stock coils fine too, but don't want to spend too much on what will be an out-and-about topper.

Here is my pick, excellent vape.

Looks like a good option, which I will probably eventually get.

BUT I would also like to find something that is 18mm or less so will fit Provari, too.

I answered your other post I did not see the 18mm requirement sorry.

I dug out the Infinite KFV4 tonight and gave it a good wash. Put an 8 wrap 26g spaced build on it, wicked with Rayon and trimmed 70/30. I filled it up with "Havanna Vape", powered to 25W and forgot just how great the KFV4 vapes.

I need to put it back in daily rotation.

The GEM fits that role perfectly, I have mine mounted on the Mini Volt for a quick grab and go.

Maybe I should edit my original post to say 18mm or less :( Not to be ungrateful, as I'll probably end up getting a 22mm (or 21) MTL capable RBA/RTA anyway, since I have plenty of devices that can fit a </= 22mm. I'm really liking the idea of having a couple of those types of toppers for before bed and just generally, especially in place of my drinking cigarettes.

ed: although I do really like the look of that GEM clone. It does hit all the points besides being small enough for my Provari without a beauty ring.

I haven't had the time yet to do any real research but now I have that list of a few smaller-than-18mm RBAs so maybe once I zero in I can ask a more specific question or two... just figured I always trust the opinion of other longtime members of this forum in the meantime.

I will have to look into the nano! It sounds right up my ally!
I used 32g and 26g for my clapton, and I wrapped it around the 1.5 diameter of my coil building tool, so it will fit :) I just need to put it in! Lol My rba deck is the same as out of the box. I did not make any modifications. I am pretty happy with the way it works :) I have never modified any of my stuff, because I just know I would screw it up! haha I use rayon to wick with, but maybe where i vape at lower watts is why I have never had wicking issues of not wicking fast enough. I have a .7 ohm build in it right now vaping at 9w :) My eliquid is always 30PG/70VG or 20PG/80VG. I really love the rba deck! Plus I love my superman vape band I got on it right now ;) lol I lost my batman one :(

The Provari beauti ring doesn't look like any other beauti ring. It looks like the top of a P3. You really should take a look. They are in the accessories section of the Provari site. I can't give you a link, I'm on my phone. You'd be able to use any 22mm tank & it would sit flush.

The Gem is on my list to get. Also I want a Calix, but I am waiting for the clone of the V2 cause I do not want the airflow to come from the 510. If I like it ill go ahead and get a authentic as I already have some By Leo gear and like them very much. My opinion it looks much nicer than the Gem or the Kayfun but everyone is different :)
