The button is slightly covered

What batteries are those? name brand & other markings.
Which power device are you going to use them in?
I ask because most power devices use flat top, the extra length from the added button top can cause issues with some power devices.

AW button top would be a much better choice for your provari, the other power devices you've mentioned would be better off using flat top.

They are LG HE4 batteries. Using in my pro vari and Hana modz

I didn't realize that flat top and button top are interchangeable...?

The earlier Pico's had a habit of slowly creeping up in power by .1W whenever you changed the atty. Temperature control refinements and other minor software issues. If you don't use TC you'll probably never need to upgrade your firmware on any mods unless there is a major issue.

I stopped using the stock firmware on my Pico and Cuboid. The third party firmware "ArcticFox" brings most Wismec/JoyeTech devices close to DNA functionality (Monitoring, Profiles and TFR capability). Which is pretty sweet for a $25 mod!

GitHub - maelstrom2001/ArcticFox: Custom Firmware for Joyetech, Wismec and Eleaf battery mods

That's pretty sweet. Have you tried it on the Pico? The docs cover the Joytech mods. Wondering if all the same features are there on the Pico.

Those button tops on the lghe2 cells have been added on / after manufacturing, LG doesn't make any vaping size cells with button top.

In your provari they will over compress the base cap spring and push up/ put strain on the positive pin which is in direct contact with the chip. Over time it will dislodge the chip & cause all sorts of problems - firing/menu button misalignment & misfires, the screen being pushed out of alignment with the viewing window up to no longer functioning needing to send back for repair.
Best to use AW cells in the provari.---> AW Batteries

Ive had a few hana's dna 40's never used a button top in any of them, might be why your having troubles with installing & removing the cells from the device.

I run ArcticFox on both my Pico and Cuboid, I'll not be going back to stock firmware. The feature set covers all devices from JoyeTech/Wismec/WeeLeaf since they are basically the same company. ;)

The Pico and Cuboid do not have any clock hardware so the clock function on those devices is software based and will have to be set quite often. If you don't use the clock option then you never need to worry about it.

I thought IMR was a reputable source, why are they changing the battery by adding a button top?

My guess is the second insulator is just a sticky ring holding the added button top in place over the flat top HE4. I'll bet you could probably pick off the smaller insulator and easily remove the button.

Forgive my ignorance but why do they make them with button tops if they are not necessary?

Pull the white sticker off that is on the side of the battery the one with numbers on it, it is only there for compliance with shipping regulations.

Button top & flat top are not interchangeable per say, there are a few power devices that can use either.

The provari you have requires button top, but, the button tops that are added after they leave the factory increase overall length.
That's why provape recommends AW cells, they are true to size due to being manufactured as a button top.
