While most of mine do have the capability, I'm also in the 2 (or more) camp. I check battery status (and tank level, of course), if low, swap in a fresh. No longer a concern. And the single 18650 silicone battery sleeves are about the size of a chap stick, so not a big bulge if I do want to carry a spare.
I still prefer having a backup battery handy. I think each of us has our habits that work well for our style. I do keep an older Ego-T 18650 mod with a micro USB port in each car for an emergency backup and charger.
I have this in my bag at all times.

hehe The talk of spares reminds me of my first few months vaping.
I was so afraid of something going wrong..... I would carry enough spares to equip a small suburb. Spare batteries, spare tanks, spare cartos, eliquid, and lots of spares of spares. I needed a small wheeled suitcase to carry it all. It was a mindset of no trust in my equipment or me and my memory of always having a pack of smokes on me. Slowly I started to trust, i whittled down the amount to almost enough spares to equip my street and then all of a sudden one day, the panic of being without my vape gear vanished and I really only take 2 setups. Not because I need spare but because I like 2 different eliquids. Choice not necessity.
As someone who needed to carry a pack of smokes and a lighter when going to the letterbox.... this was amazing. Heck I can remembering driving a couple of hours to get smokes one day when I ran out.
These days I go hours without vaping and there is no panic.

My business trip to Egypt a year back taught me to carry good backup. A tank met an airport lounge floor on the outward legs, I was stuck using a cruddy setup from an airport shop for the next week. (My mod was fine, but the junk clearos available in the airport all had eGo fittings.)
I have a small ziploc with a mech, an 18650 in silicone holder, an RDA with fresh coil, and 10ml of eliquid. That normally sits in my car, and I'll periodically rotate the 18650 and eliquid. If I travel that bag will go in my carry-on (liquid moved to the 1Qt liquids bag)
The airport gear was bad enough that at night I would bring out the broken tank and use it as a dripper, couple drops on the coil at a time [emoji3]

And make sure your spares are all compatible with each other! I learned that the hard way. I had an 808 setup and a 510 setup. The atomizer ran dry on one and the battery ran out on the other.
I've got a slew of 510/808 adapters, ones to convert both ways [emoji3]
I usually always have main rig, 5-10ml juice, spare small tank, and a full iCare on me anytime away from home. Sometimes throw the iStick Mini in my jacket pocket if I'm going to be stuck in a building all day.

I always carry a backup as well...Von Earl or icare on me.. along with my regular set up... I like the security and the ability to switch flavors as well... some times I get that look from non vapers / smokers when I break out the other device and they ask " you have two vapes?" I have to chuckle thinking about all the ones I left at home.. smokers are very loyal to there one brand of cigs...they don't understand what there missing out on.
So you guys like the icare? I'm thinking about getting one.

6 RGM2 split up between carryon and cases.
6 bottles of juice split up between carryon and cases.
2 Packs of coils in the cases.
1 surge protector charger.
1 power convertor.
List of vape shops near where I will be.
Make sure the charger fits the convertor before you get to London or you end up roaming Oxford St. looking for a usb charger at less than 1 amp.

I have my trusty provari, making sure the tank is full and the battery is well charged. I also take an icare along as a back up. I also have a spare battery in a silicone sleeve and a fresh coil that live in my purse permanently. Just in case…
The mere thought of coil dying, tank empty, provari decides to quit or I drop it and something breaks and I'm away from home is enough to cause me a panic attack. It's not like I can stop at the corner store and buy a pack of cigs

I like them a lot for when vaping stealthily is the only way. I also carry one of my two in my pyrse when I go out fir an extended period of time.
I have the original one but there is a whole line out them now, diff sizes. It's good for a little stealth mod for back up situations or like work. It's more of a device that I take out with me and not really use at home... it won't be your "go to" device if that makes sense.. for $10-14 it's worth it and does come in handy..
I would take that gear for 2 days til 2 weeks.

We all have our preferred methods.
I put one in my fasttech cart but read about spitting and auto-firing issues so I've been hesitant. I would like a tiny think I can throw in my bag. From looking at the coil, it looks like spitting could be definitely be a problem.
