By the time any stores popped up in my area, I was three-plus years vaping, and already giving my business to people I'd come to know and like.

The industry will change much (we are but a microcosm), and all that may soon change too - but for now I remain to a loyal client to my past.

Plus, well, not really BUYING too much anymore. Now I just whip whatever out.

    So to speak. :blink::blush:

Guess I was lucky, a B&M opened up here in O-Town in 2008. So way before I gave vaping any mind.
When I did start vaping (2010) there were already some fairly good products to choose from (and they seemed to have all of them on the shelf)
After my first cheapo starter kit ($75) I bought my first real mod ($45) from them.
BTW I still have & use that old Mako.

Ok now I'm really confused. Miss TO correct me here please. Ps came in two coats. The flat non-shiny called powdercoat, and the shiny, heavier coat called cerakote. Right? Wrong?

ProVape didn't use powder coat. Early on they used chrome and black chrome, but those didn't hold up very well. All of the tubes are first media blasted. Satin slivers are just media blasted; Polished & Ice are polished (after the blast), and the colors are CeraKote and ZenKote. That's the official story (I'm skipping 24k gold). In addition to experimenting with applications (like the fades), it appears they were also trying different components - the bronze, for example, has a texture none of the others do. CeraKote colors used to almost all look matte, so calling some of the later colors "CeraKote" is likely just for convenience. Perhaps ceramic-based is more accurate. I don't know what top coating is on my emerald green to make it shiny, but if they had more shiny colors earlier on I would be poorer. Note: The Stealth is triple dipped in matte ceramic/CeraKote

ProVape never revealed what they were trying, but some older users might remember when the inner battery contact changed from round to rectangle or when you couldn't give alcohol baths anymore due to the change in the board adhesive. No warning, things just happened.

Does anyone remember back when I was trying to predict upcoming ProVari colors from a CeraKote chart?

But do you remember that it was after the v2.5 boards started coming loose that WE asked ProVape if they had changed the adhesive? We were the ones who figured it out.

Mmm hmmm. I believe that Kat and I were just still watching then, both not yet having made the jump to the 2.5s. We jumped later, thanks to y'all who ventured.

I believe the gloss colors are still cerakote but with a ceramic glaze either mixed in or as a top coat. I can't remember exactly. Powder coating is just the process used and not necessarily the paint media. The media is a crystalline powder that can be ceramic based or not depending on coating type.

Yep yep. As DPL said, we were watchers back at that point, but once you all got them fixed for us.......... ;)

HappyCamper, you must certainly be one with the beautiful new white Provi!

I think it's a great day for some Provi love.

Thank you!!!! That's much more coherent.

I was using a 2.0 at the time, so never gave it no mind. ;)

course I clean my 2.0 board by letting juice seep through it
