Now I have to figure out what to do about Defender. I don't think it was active before the update.

Well you can download bit defender (free
buba.gif
) and it should
dash1.gif
turn off defender.
And/or download O&O ShutUp and turn off everything you hate about win 10
drinks.gif
. I like and use both

But you'd have to be careful at what you "turn off" otherwise the whole thing will go belly up! Just my guess.

I just discovered that Defender is only active on Edge. So if Defender craps on my day I can go to Explorer and do it there under Norton. I mostly trust Norton. No idea how Defender decides to block sites or downloads. The error window said something about problems have been reported to Microsoft so maybe it just works off user reports. The 2 times it has blocked me were for a download and a website that Norton said were fine. And it doesn't give you the option of overriding its decision like Norton does. It just says NO.

there's probably thousands of systems (hardware) and 100s of processors (software/companies)

they're also nothing like what online retailers use.

ETA: I didn't mean to sound "snooty". I just see a lot of misinformation about credit cards, EMV, skimmers, etc, and it kind of irks me. my job includes installing/troubleshooting POS systems at c-stores.

I started in the good old days, writing Assembler on what I believe was the first commercial POS system in the UK. It ran each POS terminal in a separate partition, up to a maximum of 10, and you allocated memory to a partition by moving copper U pins in a row of holes on the back of the computer. The operating system occupied the bottom 250 bytes of memory in each partition. I guess things got a bit more complicated since then.

Exactly why I left the "tempting" threads for awhile.
I know what you mean. Boy, do I know what you mean!
@VapeLuvr, one of my sons does Uber, Lyft and favor... Might be something to look into while pursuing your next gig. You can make a good amount if worked hard and smart. Just a thought this morn :)
My daughter is thinking about being an Uber driver this summer. How safe is it?

Ya think? ;)

a little...lol. there's still some older stuff floating out there (at least in my industry). gas pumps especially. those are awesome to work on. if something it wrong, it can be only a handful of things...

who wants to watch TV while getting gas anyways?!?! but they break more often, which keeps me in business. :)

Thanks for the info Lowjumper. I just emailed my Brother about your O&O Shutup who has 2 laptops with Win 10 on them, and hates it quite a bit. I'm still on Win 7, so I'm at peace ATM.

@petrotech, I would strongly advise you getting the Kanger Dripbox 2 my vapor store $42 shipped. I have the Pico, Coppervape, REO , Wraith and several others. The Dripbox does TC better than its bigger brother and is not as bulky. The Speed Revolution is good, so is No Fear Unlimited, Origen Little is very good. Strike 18mm is one I have to try but I'm on a restricted vaping diet after my last purchase.

I'm not sure how I would feel about my daughter doing it (if I had one, 4 boys lol).

Yea, I wonder if NASA is still running 64k of memory in their computers for the New stuff like they were for Apollo missions, and the Space Shuttle's. Talk about an industry that should be cutting edge, but isn't, that's NASA.

so uh....that laptop I just bought isn't doing so well. been stuck on this for about 20 minutes. I guess this is why you don't edit the registry while drinking. lol. good thing i got an image before hand. lol
