I have some temp control questions, I've been playing around with it on the Jac + Doggy for a couple days in SS mode. My experience is mostly good but I'm not really satisfied with the temp of the vapor until 460-470, which is apparently the magic number for the possible carcinogens to appear. I *want* to use and like temp control,
so I guess my question is, is am I still better off using TC even with my temp set that high? I really dig the consistency of each toot, in wattage mode it's always the end of each toot that the temp is what I seem to like. I don't know where I'm going with this really. I'm not afraid to try temp control, just roll up the sleeves and get in there and try it.

refresh me what your set-up is ?

The studies on that are seriously flawed. There is no magic number. Especially when devices all produce different results and readings. The number on the screen doesn't represent coil temperature. There not using temp sensors. They're using wire resistance to estimate possible temperature. So even if he side wasn't seriously flawed that showed the carcinogens you'd have no idea if you're actually over 450 or not.

Also your coil need to be recalibrated after you use it a few times. It adjusts and so reseating it when cold may make your device more accurate. It's not unlikely that you need to set the baseline more accurately. Also another thing ignored is coil mass. Which is going to greatly impact temperature and heating. As wel as displaced heat. As is wicking and air flow.

If you want really accurate temp control or the best chance to get it use nife48/52 which has a much more sensitive tcr. MUCH more. The tcr of SS is .0089. The tcr of nife is .0405. Huge difference.

The thread about the carcinogens at 450 is riddled with scientific issues. I wouldn't put a ton of stock in it. Instead read some of the factual information from dr farsalinos. Someone who is studying ecigs with no agenda and as an actual scientist.

Don't get me wrong, I'm vaping any way I look at it. I'm finding actual benefits in coil health that are observable to me so that alone, and not experiencing any burnt cotton taste at all since I started my experiments, has made it worthwhile. Not going to go out and change every setup I have or go crazy, but this setup has the capability so I see no harm in playing with it. Do you have that wire that you mentioned? Any possibility of getting a sample?
