So I went and bought about 50 pounds of Sockeye Salmon with it this month.

Is the Sockeye also good to use when making the smoked salmon spread that's so popular? All I've ever used was the King salmon we've caught. Geez...I love that stuff!

I still have in excess of 50lbs. of Halibut that I caught, in my chest freezer. I love it beer batter dipped and deep fried, along with a baked potato or fries, some cole slaw, and hushpuppies. Mmmmmm....

Wife gives me an allowance. So I went and bought about 50 pounds of Sockeye Salmon with it this month. That'll fix her!

She had to spend half a day runnin the freezer wrap machine.

lol... ahh the ole "I will fix her attitude"........ I can't get away with that with my Woman....if I did something like that she would make me wrap all the salmon....... So, I would lose either way. :glare:

Sockeye is one of the best Salmon there is.

When i lived in Washington i had salmon 2-3 times a week.

I would make Chujiro (sp) sushi often

Get a cut of King or Sockeye. Salmon slice it thin and wrap in parchment paper and freeze.

When i wanted sushi. Fill a bowl of rice arrange thawed pieces of fish on a bed of rice with steamed oriental vegetables .

On the side a small cup of soy sauce with Wasabi. That is a great meal!

We always cut of generous gill plates to smoke. Best snack cut of salmon you will find.
Got a shirt tail relative that owns the sportsman's Cannery at Winchester Bay, so we always got the smoked gill plates for free.
Sockeye is the reddest of all salmon (best tasting too).

This might upset some of you fish lovers!

    SEAFOODNEWS.COM [SeafoodNews] by Peggy Parker - August 8, 2017

In a highly unusual, perhaps unprecedented move late yesterday, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game called for a complete ban on Chinook salmon catches throughout Southeast Alaska.

Price of fish gonna go up!

But that ban is only for catching them in SE Alaska. There's plenty of Chinook in the waters around the rest of Alaska....right?

I can see where the charter boat captains in the Inside Passage definitely wouldn't be happy about that at all. Many tourists who go out on their charters there, want the Chinook especially. But, they do come in later to the more northern waters of the Gulf of Alaska and Prince William Sound. So there should still be some up there to catch, even this late in the summer.

I've had some decent smoked carp in the past. From the Saginaw Bay, where the fish glow a little at night.

But enough about bottom feeders already!
I love to fish. Hopefully I'll be fishing a lot when I retire in 2 years.:rickroll:

O/T: My new wheels. Well new to me. Actually I bought this for the wife about 10 years ago, when she could hardly walk across the street because of back and hip problems, she has since gotten much better fortunately, but now I need it. Now I can get around the neighborhood, and stores that don't have the electric carts to use. Just replaced the batteries and she's ready to go.
Too bad there are no decent vapes shops within riding distance of me, or a Dairy Queen. :(
