So many people are so new to this they can't even read the ohms on a coil, and they are buying box mods and tanks, throwing more confusion in the mix. For me, keep it simple and worry about how to vape and get off cigs. When I've got that mastered I'll worry about moving up, but that may be months away or never.!
I think You are being very wise.

BTW, I don't think I've welcomed you here…WELCOME…to one of the best threads, full of very nice, very knowledgable people! Don't hesitate to ask questions.

There are no rules that say you have to turn this into a hobby or continually buy the flavor of the week

I am quite happy vaping every morning on the same tank and juice that got me off the smokes 2.5 years ago, I prefer to blister pack my coils and buy my juice. It is so cheap in comparison to smoking it is ridiculous.

That said I am stocked up for every scenario I can think of.
My exact feelings on all the above!

I've even had people ask me 'which end of the battery was the positive'!
It's so easy to assume that folks know all this stuff when the reality is why should they already know.
IMO it's unfortunate that our newer products facilitate not knowing, and vaping has become much like using a cell phone. We have no idea what goes on inside it ... we just know how to use it.

And then the noob wants a mechanical.

That looks so idyllic - I mean the ocean view, not the iStick/Nauti combination which is what I'm tootling on as I type (only mine's silver :D)

The Endura might not be for everyone, but for me it's been the perfect solution. I'm a beginner. I don't want to adjust settings, build coils, or make juice at this time. I just want to quit smoking, and these do the job. As I read these forums I think more beginners should try these. So many people are so new to this they can't even read the ohms on a coil, and they are buying box mods and tanks, throwing more confusion in the mix. For me, keep it simple and worry about how to vape and get off cigs. When I've got that mastered I'll worry about moving up, but that may be months away or never.
I had an interesting email exchange with Phil Busardo, thanking him for his T18 video. He told me that of the massive amount of devices available to him due to his reviews, the T18 is still his wife's favorite!

Absolutely, @redeuce! That's what it's really all about, becoming an EX-smoker. Whether or not any individual chooses to delve into the "hobby" aspect is irrelevant. If the new vaper is wrapped up in what may be major arcana, they may not find that place where they reach for a vape before reaching for a cig.

And welcome aboard the cukoo train!

    :shock::shock::shock:

Then they get hurt…it makes the news…vaping gets a bad name again.

I look back. and have to chuckle because I was no different. In fact my first real mod was a mechanical, but at least I was already well versed in electrical applications.

Back in those days we really didn't think much in the terms of watts or temperature. It was all about volts .. ohms .. and amperage. So perhaps the learning curve was a bit easier to wrap our heads around.

Not as nice of a view as Toolman's morning coffee spot, but it'll have to do.

My raggedy old, chipped, scratched, and worn Evic & Tron S with CLR (rebuilt countless times over the last 19 months and still going strong). Also loaded with HS (No 5, with a hint of Gold Ducat & Vanilla for Pipe).

The beastie is Elsie. One of our 5 rescues. Elsie is one of two blind cats in the herd. Victims of feline herpes, when they were born. Daughter is a vet tech, and they were brought in to the hospital as struggling, stray kittens, with their eyes almost hanging out. She made a deal with the docs, if they did the eye surgery on the house, she would adopt them. Both times, the docs agreed. Don't feel too sorry for them, though. They're actually the biggest trouble makers of the bunch. They both fly around the house, up & down the stairs, wrestling with the other cats. They don't know they're blind. It's amazing how well they adapt.

You sound exactly like my Brother in Law and He's using his T22 to get off the smokes. He likes the
no fuss no muss approach, pop in a coil, fill and vape.
Yep, that's me. Lol. But seriously, I see people on here everyday that are complete newbies that are asking for help on their GX350, then in their next post ask what is a coil? As I read the boards, it is obvious that many newbies are already in way over their heads right from the start. In my opinion, a person just off cigs and starting vaping should not be letting a B&M talk them into an advanced unit, or any adjustable unit for that matter. It's hard enough to quit smoking. Anything technical is just going to complicate the process and create frustration. A newbie should be looking for a simple, dedicated MTL, AIO device with an internal battery to start with. A few months down the road, they can move up if they choose to more complicated rigs.
I started out with some unsatisfactory devices, and quite frankly was ready to give up. Out of frustration, I started doing extensive research. I stumbled upon this video on Phil Busardo's website, and I credit it to saving my vaping life. Moderators, I'm not sure if it's proper to post a link like this to a site, but in my opinion this is the most important video for a new ex smoker to watch. It is vital and would probably keep some newbies from giving up. I think we lose a lot of newbies because they don't fully grasp the complexity of this process, and fail to stick to basics. Then they get mad and quit trying. There are other devices available besides the one he is reviewing. But what is important in this video is he accurately describes what a smoker goes through and needs. You can relate to it, everyone. It's long but worth it:

Taste Your Juice | THE INNOKIN ENDURA

Many long time quitters forget that to a newbie, the single most important factor in someone trying to quit is to replicate the feel and satisfaction of the act of smoking as close as possible, and to find a MTL unit that puffs like a cigarette. Most units don't do that, and most newbies seem to be overly excited about getting into vaping, and get blinded by all the neat things available. You have to crawl before you walk. It's like giving a 16 year old kid who got his drivers license yesterday a new Ferrari and saying good luck.

Replicating the smoking procedure and mouth to lung method is, in my opinion, vital to the success or failure of a vaping newbie. Fellow newbies, please slow down, find a proper unit that still makes you feel like you are smoking, get used to vaping and not smoking, then and only then move on to the advanced stuff.

By the way, it does not have to be an Innokin Endura. But it has to be a simple, dedicated MTL device with no bells and whistles other than a fire button.

That was me with the evod 2 and protanks 2
It gave me the drawl like I did when I smoked and I still use them when I'm out and about. I moved to a rebuild this year in fear of the deems and I really enjoy it. I was nervous, but so many helpful people here walked me through it!

I agree with all but the adjustable. At least a VV device for tuning the temp and flavor ;)

I started with 650 eGos and CE4+ toppers. The advent of VV sticks was a huge improvement, imo. :)

I agree with all but the adjustable

And I'm the other way around, and found it in my best interest to learn how to adjust the resistance instead.

The reality is that ohms law is a circle. You have three values (ohms-volts-amps)
Changing any one of the three will cause the same effect.
