;) Yup. Good old atomizers. Remember the 3-piece e-cig? That's how we all started.

You can still find them (sans cartridges ;)):

Genuine Boge™ 510 Dripping Atomizer - Vapor Authority (out of stock )

510 LR Long Barrel Bridgeless 1.5ohm Atomizer (Cisco Spec)

:w00t:

ETA: And cartotanks. I believe Kat is the only person still using them. :p

I still have at least one of those Joye 510s and an eGO mega.

I've seen the threaded bolt method done and it's probably the most accurate way to maintain even spacing, especially if you can mount the coil between the posts before unscrewing the bolt.
Nothing but. I can't even write right, and you expect me to do WHAT?!?!

I Have told several people following threads of a steel screw was a good way to make spaced screws. But always used micro coils myself
Interesting...A screw or Bolt...Hmmm...

I usually hand wind coils on a mandrel, then stretch and compress. If you compress there's always a loop on the end that wants to hug up to a leg, so hand spacing is probably the way to go if you can maintain it through the wind.
I ask mostly because of the "Gunky" Nature of my recipes and I've seen many comments around the .3-.5mm range for the spacing itself...Also that it makes cleaning the coil easier after a dry burn...I've got some pre-made, 28g wire and a jig coming...If the pre-made need spacing I'll do it by hand...

It'll just take some trial & error but it's nice to try and start somewhere near the right spot...Like the question on the cotton...To Peel Or Not To Peel :)...Some Say Yes Some Say No...Others insist it makes no difference and that the only real concern they pay attention to is the volume...We Shall See...Trig

Remember when ya always got 5 new cartridges with anything you bought??

Geez, those things were nasty... Remember all the mods? The straw mod, Lipton tea bags, blue foam, debridging... :D I couldn't deal with that--I chose cartos.
I still have at least one of those Joye 510s and an eGO mega.

Me too. And a 901.
:D Just tell me, is Cisco still the best?

I make touching contact coils on my gizmo (Kuro) and then just stretch them out a bit. Works for me.

I love this place...And being curious about the definition of "Micro Coil" I found this...

Spaced Coils
Contact Coils
Nano coil = less than 1.4mm ID
Micro coil = 1.5-1.9mm ID
Standard coil = 2-2.9mm ID
Macro coil = 3mm ID or larger

So I guess that means I'll be making...Spaced Macro Coils ...I'll just be happy if they work !!!

I agree. Micro coils is a misnomer when used to describe contact coils. I think contact vs spaced is the correct terminology. So I edited my post above... :D

I still use 510 and 901 atomizers and carto-tanks. I didn't use the cartridges for long. And, before I got around to blue foam, I discovered dripping. Much better.

At first, I had to just use an empty cartridge for a drip tip. Luckily that didn't last for long.

Right. That's where the term drip tip comes from. Another misnomer. We don't "drip" through our drip tips anymore. But we used to. :)

It's a two handed installation while holding a screwdriver in the same hand that also requires holding your tongue right. ;) I finger pick acoustic guitar and it's hard for me, too! Once you do a few it's a 5 minute job.

Still doesn't make me want to revert to ready made coils, though.

This method makes beautifully even spaced coils...I gave it a whirl a while back.My issue was that I didn't have a screw anywhere in this house with the diameter I liked my coils (2.4mm).I didn't really feel like going out to the hardware store to track one down soooo,I just use my homemade jig.I roll them fairly spaced and compress them a bit so it looks reasonably even and they work good enough for me. :)
