Okay, here’s a pic of an actual STM rba and below is my feeble attempt. I love a building challenge, so I WILL master this!

Curious as to how to wick this? I would be tempted to install wicking before putting coil on deck. Since you don't want to block air flow, are the tails out of the top only? And wouldn't that cut down on juice flow? It seems that the amount of rayon/cotton would be less. Maybe extra long tail?

Let us know how you proceed and what, if any, problems you may encounter. Its always fun to experiment.

Nope, I just bought some precoiled SS round plain wires from Advanced Vape Supply. It's so much easier for me with precoiled coils, I have some on order from FT as well and those aren't nichrome either. You can probably find what you want with enough digging.... Good luck,

Anna

I realized after posting that I should have just said stock/replacement coil heads. You know, those that come included with a tank when you buy a kit. Also, the premade RBA coils that Kangertech sells for the STM are nichrome.
:)

eta. I too use premade coils as much as possible. Easier for me also.

I read(somewhere) that most, if not all, of premade/stock coils are nichrome. Anyone else have info on this?

:)

AFAIK, they are all NiChrome unless otherwise specified (i.e. Kanthal, Ti, ss, Ni, and so on).

With the STM, I used FT nichrome premade coils exclusively. When I got the ego one tanks I started making my own coils, again, using Kanthal. I immediately noticed that the ego one vaped much smoother (less harsh) and initially attributed it to the difference in the tanks. Out of curiosity I made a Kanthal coil for the STM, vaped it and found it was just as smooth as the ego.

Has anyone else experienced a difference in taste/harshness with different metals?

I really like Kanthal--maybe because it forms a protective aluminum oxide layer, which keeps any potential metal particles from leaching into my eliquid. But I really can't tell much of a difference between NC and Kanthal. And I know people who actually prefer NC--tastewise. We're all different. :)

So I have a spool of nichrome wire and a spool of nickel wire. I’ve been hesitant to use them because it’s my understanding that they’re not as easy as kanthal or 316 L. However, I’m curious as to how they vape. I’m wondering if any of you have had a bad experience using those types of wires?

NiChrome is similar to Kanthal - You use that in POWER mode.

Nickel (I'm presuming Ni200) is TC ONLY. Build between 0.1 and 0.4 It's the same a wrapping any other coil, but just make sure your device is set to NI TC (or use TCR with PROPER settings)

ETA - DO NOT DRY-FIRE Test it on an ohmmeter

Vape Purchase...I picked up my first Mech,a Surefire King Mod clone...

View attachment 703757
It seems well made, copper plated contacts, magnetic switch and smooth threads.
I played around with it a bit,it's kinda neat. :)

welcome to the mech side! make sure to keep it clean, especially the threads and contact points. if anyone else is interested, I got one of these a couple weeks ago and have no problem recommending it.

$6.77 (Free Shipping) Knight V2 Styled 18650 Mechanical Mod (V2, 18650, Brass + Carbon Fiber, Black) at m.FastTech.com

it's my first mod bigger than 22mm (besides a couple hybrids) and the difference between my 22mm toppers doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would.

What’s the highest ohm coil there is? Do they go past say 3.0 ohms?

Oh my God, Chels, I just got your PIF package in the mail. I don't even know how to thank you enough for your incredibly generous gift(s). I feel like a kid on Christmas morning, lol. I know that we have been talking about this via the conversation function of the site, but I also want to let everyone know publicly (if they didn't already) how kind and generous you are. Thank you!

I’m still pondering how the wicking will work!

With vertical coil on a rebuildable, the wicking goes in the chamber AROUND the coil. I tried it a few times, and liked it, but then that topper broke, and I went wholesale into Kayfuns, which do not lend themselves easily to that setup.

I kinda blew this year's vape budget by March of this year. I do have a 30 year vape stash with triple redundancy.

My next present to myself will be a Dicodes Dani Box Assuming I can still buy one next year with the impending doom.
The FDA announced they are going slower on their crackdown. What impending doom are you anticipating for 2018?

These pieces of legislation from our elected officials.

One or both could be in force Jan 1 2018

Ontario Bill 174

Ontario Bill 174 – Summary | ECTA of Canada

Bill S-5

Notice to Industry from Health Canada RE: Upon Royal Assent of Bill S-5 | ECTA of Canada
In the US any legislator is entitled too introduce any bill he chooses without limitation. Then it comes down to what support does it have. I would have thought Canadians are too sensible, too clear headed, too sophisticated, too wise, to crack down on vaping. Only dumb americans would do that, right?

In the mean time my solution is to communicate with my elected officials AND keep 10 mods, 10 atomizers, and 500,000 mg of nic on hand.

I watched a video several months ago and I was surprised. It seemed like as far as legislation goes the UK is pro vaping, Canada is anti vaping, and the US is neutral. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

To the member who asked if squonk mods come with an eGo connection, apologies if I came across as being "snooty". I didn't know what that connector was, I have educated myself (Google again!) and the answer is, no, as far as I know there aren't squonk mods with eGo connectors. Then, again, I may very well be wrong (just ask my wife) .
