I started at 18mg. Went to 24mg to get off the final few smokes. Quickly went to 24/18. Dropped to 18 after about 6 months. Went to 12 after a year of that. Found myself vaping to much and adjusted to 15/12.
My setup hasn't changed in that time.
If you are going up, take it in smaller steps instead of doubling or tripling your nic.
I recently went from 8 to 12 mg. I have more satisfaction and no ill effects such as dizziness or nausea
I've never kwite understood the rush and/or necessity to lower one's "natural" nic strength. But then again, I was also not only an accidental quitter, but one who didn't even believe vaping was anything more than a gimmick. (a battery is going to stop me from smoking - yeah, right, sure, uh huh)
I also (laugh if you like) didn't believe there was even nicotine in the eliquid. Such a doubting Tomasina, me.
So I vaped 18s and 24s. I preferred the 18s but they were still a bit too much for me. I've found my happy place at 15mg.
Like you, Mr. Ock, I've seen much research on the addictive/harmful-less qualities of nic, and I've paid attention to the articles that speak of the possible health benefits.
Our bodies dictate what we need in terms of nic consumption, and like most others here, when I HAVE vaped a low strength (3, 6, 9, and sometimes even 12), I find myself chasing it, and naturally vaping more.

I am reducing my nic in part because some of my setups have gotten stronger, but I did tell myself that I wasn't going to attack my nic anytime soon as I didn't feel the need, exactly, having made the herculean switch to vaping, period. I was like, "Good enough for me," and if I don't like my reductions I will be going right back up....
I don't care if my nic ever changes though, because some things. I know diet pepsi is bad for you, but life is too short for me to worry about every.last.thing that's bad for me (if I can even figure them out).

I let my body tell me when it is time to drop the nic levels. I get headaches when it is too much.
I am currently at 15mg with no plans to change anything.
It is surprising how a small change in nic level can have quite an effect. Making up a batch of 10mg by accident instead of the 8mg we usually vape, we have reduced our daily consumption. The normal batch size I make, 375ml, lasted a number of days longer than it usually does, and I actually set my vape down for periods of time! Sticking with 10mg going forward.
I started 5 years ago at 18, quickly down to 12 due to dizziness and nausea. 12 down to 6 within 6 months. Down to 3 1 year ago when I started seriously DIY and not buying juice any more. I am fine at 3 mg. When I am doing nothing, yes, I tend to chain vape. But if I am busy, I am fine for hours without a vape. Still won't leave home without at least 2 mods and full tanks!

ETA: I like the suggestion of using clear wrap preserving the original wrap. Coincidentally, clear wrap is what I have a whole roll of![emoji4]
ETA #2: do I need to add these round “things” (don’t remember what they’re called)?
ETA #3: is it good practice to add clear wrap to all batteries? Thereby extending the life of the wrapper?

A clear wrap OVER the factory wrap may make the diameter too big for some mods...
I never put a clear wrap over a factory wrap, partly for that reason, and partly because it really doesn't need the extra protection - most of the time
The insulators may or may not be needed. If the originals are intact, just reuse them. Top (positive end) only.

Are leaky tanks ever caused by the coil? Or is it all about the air pressure in the tank? My Triton is suddenly leaking like a sieve. The only change is a new coil...

Once again, you pointed out something I hadn’t considered: larger diameter. Some batteries are definitely a snug fit already without additional wrapping,
so you have a good point[emoji4]
Insulators, that’s it! Don’t ask me why I purchased them. It was back when I bought vaping items willy nilly! If it was vape -related, I’d buy it! I’ve since come to my senses (somewhat [emoji38]).
