I am a new e-cigs and noticed that my first night i had the hardest time sleeping. My mid was racing all nifht and i know how nicatine is a stimulant. My question would be if it is normal to have trouble sleeping when first switching over? Do I need to not vap for a certain amount of time before i go to bed? Thanks for all the help, this forum rocks in its support

Welcome to ECF Kinger,
I'll let others address your sleep question, I can fall asleep drinking a pot of coffee, vaping a 10 ml bottle and standing on 1 foot, so I'm sure no help there.
Just want you to know that getting off cigarettes is one of the best things WE can do for our bodies, not counting our families, friends, clothes, furniture, walls,.....you get it.
I smoked for 40+ years and it's now been a little over 3 months for me and I still can not believe it. I had tried everything to quit and even some you couldn't imagine and it never took. With vaping, day 2 was my last cigarette and I did it fairly easily.

Best of luck and much success. :thumb:

I had a bit of the same issue when I first started too. Could be the nic, could be withdrawal from cigs, could be stress, could be all of these. Like keyzgirl said, try lowering your nic directly before bed. I would recommend some light stretching, deep breathing, and maybe even looking into taking a sublingual melatonin (1 mg should do) before bed if this continues.

It's definitely your Nic intake I would have to say, if you can stop vaping an hour or two before you hit the hay it would definitely help you fall a sleep, I have the same issue and its just hard for me to put the dam PV down, I wish there was a trick to stop vaping when it gets close to bed time, simply because I find myself vaping more so at night

It varies. For some it is just their bodies adjusting to not sucking a bunch of carbon dioxide and toxins before bedtime. For some it is the nicotine - but some need to vape lower nicotine before bed and some like me need to vape extra-long before bedtime.

One thing that that messed up my bedtime at first was I found it stressful and disruptive to "take my last drag" for the night and THEN have to go into the bright kitchen and start unscrewing and screwing things - disassembling my ecig and setting the battery up to charge. By then I would wish I could take another drag! So I bought one more totally spare battery so I can leave my ecig set up all night right where I like to vape it. That worked great for me. Now I really can take that last drag and then head up to bed. And if I get up during the night or when I get up in the morning, it is right there so that also made mornings easier.

I'd say it's nicotine affecting your sleep. Back off and put it somewhere you have to walk to get to it and you should be fine. Huffing an ecig right before bed will stimulate you sometimes. I usually have mine next to me while watching tv late at night and forget to use it. Then, I get sleepy and head to bed. A distraction helps. If I'm posting on ECF, I'm vaping heavy. TV makes me forget about it.

I've been vaping for about 4 months now. At first, there was only what I considered a good change in my sleeping pattern - I woke up much earlier without grogginess. After a while, tho, I found myself up until 2 or even 3 in the morning. Oddly, I only slept 5 hours a night and was never tired.

Having read this post, I just figured out that this happened after I started using a passthru. That passthru generates so much smoke - I love that part of vaping, the exhalation. I think I could just watch myself exhale for hours on end...

I read in another post what Keyzygirl recommends. I have 8 mg carts on hand (down from 11mg) but still have an 11mg nearby for an occasional hit so I don't get too frustrated. I also started keeping a stash of hard candy around - butterscotch, root beer, peppermints - they've helped to cut down on the constant vaping.
