What I found did it for me was to find a good solution that was far better than the cig-alike style of e-cig. A lot of folks recommend using something such as the eGo-style of e-cig to really get better vapor and such. I bought a Volcano Inferno starter kit and have been using it since Monday and I'll never touch another analog cigarette again. Smoking a regular cigarette tastes like .... now. Find a good starter kit, like the Volcano Inferno or the eGo Twist or something like that and give it a try. The investment is often less than $80.00 to get a full kit and get going. From there, your next real challenge is going to be finding a flavor that you like. I have the luxury of having a really great brick and mortar vapor shop (vaporite.com) not ten minutes away from where I live and they have a ton of samples they put out for people to sit in their comfy couches and just try to see what they like. Anyway though, play with a few juices, take advantage of the sampler packs many suppliers offer and find a few that you like and you'll be amazed at how easy it is to walk away from analog smokes, in my opinion. Hope that helps and I'm positive you'll get some others that will give you some great advice as well. Dig through the forums here and you'll learn more than you ever wanted to know too! Love this place and these peeps. Great group of folks here.

What type of analogs were you smoking before? I smoked Marlboro red 100's and liked the Full flavored tobacco from Volcano in the 16mg nic amounts. I found a Moroccan Vanilla Tobacco flavor from vaporite.com today that I really like as well. Do you have an Atty and a local shop that maybe you can try samples at? There is bound to be a flavor out there that you'll groove on.

I'm trying real hard to make the transition to e-cigs but I keep going back to the regular cigs after doing the e-cigs during the day at work. What is the trick? I need to make this transition. how do I make it happen?

Well first off congrats on trying to ditch the coffin nails. I'm kinda the opposite of you; I would vape at home but not a work (I was embarrassed lol). Anyways dude don't worry if it takes you a little while to get completely off of the analogs, it took me 5 months.

What kind of kit are you using? Cig-a-likes, eGo, something else? Also, what kind of juice are you using and from what vendor(s)? This can make all the difference too.

it's gonna suck, you just have to do it.

I would contradict this; when you are REALLY ready to quit them, it won't suck, you'll feel really good about it.

Thanks for the reply. I'm using the E-go T and juice from a local vendor. I tried the cig-alike and these didn't work. I like the ego-t, I just haven't found the right juice to make the switch. I need to do this. Any adice?

Sorry I didn't see your next post before I posted my first response. I would suggest trying juice from a few diff vendors; I found that I don't like the juices from my local B&M store, even as nice as they are :p I would also suggest trying unflavored juice, it can totally get you by while you find something you love. I happen to prefer it over flavors myself :)

I have been smoking the "kill yourself cheaply" cigs for a long time, I just need to find a replacement to get past this addiction. This is going to work, I just need to get over the hump. The e-cig is the way to go, us addicts just need to make the plunge! I WILL do it.

I might try the unflavored, this might do it, thanks.

First, my opinion, don't pressure yourself to "quit". You spent the day at work without cigs right? That's a win.

Finding the right juice is likely to take a bit of time and experimenting. There's no "one size fits all". You have to find what works for you.

I started vaping about a month ago. I still sometimes have a regular cig. In the past two days, I've had one. That's down from a pack and a half to two packs a day. I haven't officially "quit" yet but I'm ecstatic. One cig in two days? A carton used to last a week at best? If I was lucky?

Some folks here picked up vaping and walked away from cigs the same day and never looked back. Some of us are still trying to escape. Don't expect yourself to perform miracles, you'll just set yourself up to fail.

One of the big changes for me was inhalation technique. Discussed here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-information/337019-inhalation-technique-ecig-vs-cigarette.html. Cigarette smokers are used to inhaling into the lungs to get the nicotine (among other things) into the blood stream quickly. Vapor is a bit different. The nicotine is absorbed in the mouth and nasal passages. And a bit slower (cigarette nicotine can get to the brain in seconds, it's pretty peppy).

While I was settling in with vaping, it wasn't at all unusual to have a cig to "start" (especially after waking) then I could "coast" with vaping. Not a "quit" but it was a drastic reduction in the number of cigs smoked. I mean, big drop. The more I got used to vaping, the less interest I had in cigs. But it took a little while. Took trying different flavors and base liquid mixes and nicotine levels. I find the more I enjoy vaping, the less I want a regular cig and the time between them grows. 'Course, I'm aiming for the gap to become "for good" but I know I'm bad about setting myself up to fail, setting expectations way too high and not cutting myself any slack. Kind of a perfectionist streak. Very counterproductive.

I swiped the slogan down there in my cig from other folks around here who've been at it longer than I have: Don't count the ones you smoke, count the ones you don't smoke. How many did you not smoke today?

The e-juice is such a subjective thing. The flavors, the use of PG or VG or mix (and ratio of the mix), the nicotine level... what works for me, may be a disaster for you. There's no telling ahead of time. You just have to try things out and see what works. And that could take a bit of time.

I find the more I explore and the more I enjoy vaping, the more cigarettes repel me. I had one yesterday and hated it. Gave me a headache even and left me wondering what I ever saw in the things. Heh, today, if I feel that "pull" to go grab one (and I've a pack in the kitchen cabinet), I feel a little nauseated at the idea.

I say focus on enjoying vaping and leaving cigs will become easier and easier. At least, that's what's happening to me...
