I think it would cause a problem. A friend of mine was down here for vacation and wanted more info on ecigs so I gave her the forum site. She signed up for it, on my desktop, rather than my laptop, and I still got a TOS violation.. so careful! I would check with the mods, maybe, before proceeding. I can understand their reasoning, but it does make it tough for others in situations like this.. Good luck!

No---There is no limit to the number of members that can share an IP. There is a limit to the number of ID's a member can have. That would be 1.
Thanks Elendil!

With that in mind I will have her sign up with a new user ID and Password using our same public IP address and expect no problems. Unless she goes ape and violates the TOS. Correct?

Some questions are sooooo easy.

Speaking of TOS---you cannot substitute symbols to simulate a vulgarity.......a no-no.........

Which is why there's a :censored: emoticon now.

And, of course, why I can't use HTML entities to do characters with umlauts. Which I completely understand. It's just that sometimes, I really want an umlaut. :)

I'm going to guess that maybe she attempted to sign up while your browser was still logged in. Or if not, maybe there are cookies laying about even after you log off, and vBulletin doesn't distinguish. I could test that hypothesis out, but I'd have to violate the TOS to do it.

We have not near enough server space to accommodate all the multiple personalities on this site, so we will have to say no...........

yeah could you imagine Elendil all 14 of me showing up? Everywhere I go there is an ecig conference going on already! But vaping is cheaper for 14 of us because we all share the same equipment.

We usually do not comment on infractions or warnings, but I looked into the infraction you received. There were 2 additional ID's created from your IP and both of those were almost the identical ID to each other (1 letter different) both of those used the exact same email address which was almost identical to the email address you have associated with your current ID.

All of those circumstances led us to believe it was one person creating multiples. We can only make a judgment based upon the info we have. If someone is creating multiples with malicious intent, time is of the essence. Infractions can be reversed if a mistake is made. But there are days where we may investigate 30+ cases of multiples. Sometimes what appears to be a multiple, isn't and vice versa.

Like those?

Showoff. :p

Yeah, I know I can actually paste characters coming from an appropriate codepage. Then I'd have to go find them. And I'm really, really lazy. So I just want to type the entities I already know. Which is more portable anyway. I think. Unless they're encoded correctly as unicode, which didn't used to be the case, I think.

I just copied them from the Character Map that comes with Windows. Kinda easy.

Yeah and get rid of JerryLewis too... they'll throw you out for sure if you use that (and I'd report you).
