Also, no stair climbers,no roller skating,runners,nor walkers allowed.Forget that summer of boating you grew up doing as the risk is not acceptable. No hi-heels for the ladies,& no Beatle boots for the men. Matter of fact, we will only hire people that never stand up nor leave their house. Apply with in. Also, no Monty Python fans cause they are just 'silly'. Bring me a 'shrubbery'.

You've been watching it for as long or longer than I have, The answer is long after we're long gone, if ever. The nation has been breeding sheep for decades, then teaching them to follow and obey.

I prefer the word realistic .. I don't live in World of constant conspiracies, Govenment takeovers, Black Helicopers, blah blah blah ..
I live in the greatest / most free / nation in the World .. that regardless of it's mistakes, missteps and constant learning and changing, is still The United States of America ..
And to me, I'm glad to add a fresh perspective since it seems to me the same posters pushing the same old agendas and rhetoric continue unabated .. whenever a thread like this pops up, it's the same song and dance routine ..
The problem with that, Uncle Willie, is that nicotine is being targeted as an indicator of an unhealthy applicant regardless of whether or not that is actually true. Those of us that care about decisions being made based on factual information will have an issue with this. This decision by the hospital targets a minority population of nicotine users and denies them employment opportunities based on an assumption of health and lumps all nicotine use under the blanket of 'smoking'. The two are not the same, and them doing this reinforces the belief in others that they are equivalent. Do they have a legal right to do this? Yes. Do we have the right to call them whatever we want to because of it? Yep. Does it really erode freedom when people can only earn an honest living and support themselves if they allow employers to dictate what legal behaviors they engage in, even when they are off the clock? Many of us believe that it does.
And I would beg to differ that 'the most free nation in the world' is the one with the most people in our for-profit prison system for non-violent drug offenses. The most free nation in the world has the most prisons and the most people per capita in them. Who would have thought that?
Actually his take on things is rather typical/average. Same as 'Uncle Sam'. Just like the fed holds funds over the states head till the state conforms,this will lead to the same place (loss of sovereignty)with humans. They have done this with road funds,school funds, on & on. 'No soup for you!' Americans will allow any kind of draconian measure as long as it is in the name of health,or the children. Notice how so many are 'sick'? I thought a health system makes people healthy? Everyone has been diagnosed with one illness or another & then the doc maintains them in a state of ill health LOL. folks can't see where this is leading? To enforce these laws, blood tests will be mandatory for all. We have already been 'bled' financially. Next will be 'real blood'. But as they say, if you have nothing to hide blahblahblahyadayadayada. Just don't mess with our coffee!
