I have dealt with nicotine that is 100 mg/ml on quite a few occasions. It has the strangest smell. The smell of it puts me in mind of insecticide. Maybe a corn-chip-py kinda insecticide ..... very strange smell. I have read previously on these forums that people dealing with high concentration nic equate the smell to insecticide.

That being said ..... I reduce it down to 25 mg/ml and have never tasted that insecticide smell in my juice. Is there any possibility that the concentration is off?

You know I thought the same thing at one point, since the smell was so strong, and because nicotine insecticides are usually in very high concentrations, just maybe he got the label mixed up. So let's say he sent me 100mg/ml and I thought I was cutting it to 1.8% I would have been cutting to more like 4.8% or just a bit lower I think, which would have made it around 48mg/ml. That would explain the sick as a dog nausea, headache and irritability, Basicly all the symptoms of nicotine overdose but I want to talk to Chris before I mix any more up to test that because I used about 5 or 6ml already.

I would suggest also ordering smaller amounts of stuff you haven't tried yet.

Thanx, I will keep that in mind, but when Dan offered me 250ml of 48mg/ml for 40 bucks I couldn't pass it up, I spoke with his grandmother on the phone and she is just so proud of him and that speaks volumes.

I'm sure he's a stand-up guy and will take care of things for you.
As we say here many times....Sheet happens and you just regroup and charge ahead.
Just wanted to wish you best of luck.

Thanx Rosco, I appreciate the support, I tried to vape some more today after letting it sit for another 24 to see if that would do it, but no luck. B4 I wash, rinse, and sanitize I'm gonna reverse engineer one of them and do the math and add what's left to cut it down to 24mg/ml as if it were 100mg/ml and see where that gets me..

Just got off the phone with MFS, The best customer service I have ever had period...so after a few tests we came to the conclusion that the juice was mislabeled and is of a much higher concentration than 48mg/ml, not sure how much but I will treat it as 100mg/ml just to be on the safe side. Their sending me 250ml of pg to play around with my mixing, and just to top it off when he gets more in Chris is gonna send me an eGo kit for my troubles wow now that's service I knew he was a stand up guy, He now has my loyalty like a brother. Chris at My Freedom Smokes, Linda at perfumer's apprentice, and Dan at arctic vapor all you guys Rock.....:2cool::2cool:

I'm glad the customer service was great for you, as you stated.

This is part of one of the only things that has worried me about vaping....thinking of just "who" is mixing up the juice
and the conditions that the juice may be mixed in....cleanliness , quality control, measuring, etc....

I am now heading towards DIY, just becasue of the above as well as what has happened to you...

I'm sorry, but to me, this is unexcuseable with something as potentially dangerous of a mixup on the concentration of nic in your juice!!! I personally would "trash" this smelly problem as there is NO way any one can state what has really gone wrong with your order/mixup/problem.

I'm pleased they want to put the problem right, but as Smokum has said, making assumptions about nicotine strength is not sensible. You could assume it's 100mg/ml, but for all anyone knows it could be 400mg/ml or whatever. If there's a real question mark about the strength of some nicotine base, or a labelling error is suspected, I would think the only sensible thing to do would be to withdraw it from sale until further testing had been carried out, and issue an urgent recall on any bottles from that batch that had already been sold!

+1 on the recall and it should be posted ASAP on their site as well as on this forum ASAP.

Slumdog... You do know how serious this is don't you? Glad you're here to type about it. WOW!!!

Hate to say it because I think the government needs to have less of a hand in my day to day life, but there should be legally enforcable standards in this industry no differently than you would find in the restaurant industry, the grocery industry, etc...
It kind of seems like the Wild Wild West in the juice industry. Anything goes. You really have no objective idea of what is in the stuff, the conditions under which it was made, or as in this case, the nicotine content. Anything could show up in that envelope.

Really, we take a leap of faith everytime we place an order. Luckily, many juice makers seem to have integrity and to the best of their knowledge are making the product in the safest way. Even still, I think we all know it's just a matter of time until we hear the headline, "Local Person Killed by Electronic Cigarette Overdose".

I personally wouldn't dink with this mix up. I'd be irate, but YMMV. I agree with other posters, I'd send it back.

Yup. Send it back immediately for a refund and order from either Gourmet Vapor when they have it on sale or from BoxElderChemicalSupply.com. Gourmet Vapor resells Box Elder that's why I included them. It looks like Box Elder is having a little sale and you can get 250ml of 48mg nic juice for $39.96. That's not a bad deal considering how long that would last me.

I suggest you send it back and not fool around with something that you are not sure of its nic level. Sounds a bit risky on everyones part.
MFS should send you a prepaid return label and get it out of your hands immediately. IMHO of course.

I didnt think of it that way but now that you mention it nicotine is a poison and not to be fooled with so I will take your advice and toss this batch because even though 100mg/ml is the highest they sell, I believe he starts with a solid nic base and mixes himself, so theoretically it could be any concentration...They told me legally they can't receive it back into their facility after it has been opened by a customer for liabilty issues.

Yes, caution is appropriate if you have something of uncertain strength, a known mislabel. There's no basis of estimate short of it possibly being anything up to the maximum nic base that they start with.

Frankly, if I was the vendor I would want to get it back -- they absolutely cannot resell it, however they certainly should care to find out exactly what they had sent to you, do a test.

I have no clue what the legality would be concerning an opened nicotine product, but he really should be able to receive a faulty product back in order to test it. I understand he also has no clue if the purchaser is sending him back what he sent to begin with. I get that reasoning.
So glad to know that you have enough consideration for your well being not to put a substance into your system that you know is not what it was purported to be.

This is why vendors need to carry product liability insurance. This is just the begining. I am sure this is not the first oops by a vendor. I know that bathtub or lab quality vendors need to improve. Lot numbers need to be stamped on the bottles. (In case of a recall?)

Another great reason to DIY. However, in this scenerio the nicotine fluid was bad. Heck I will pay the price and going to xtremevaping for my nic.

So am I, you guys here "My new family" may have very well saved my life. I am just starting to realize that this should be treated very seriously. I was blessed because this could have been a disaster story for myself and the vaping community. This is the kind of thing the government is waiting on to happen so they can say "We have to step in and do something or they will all kill themselves" please vendors, pay attention, your customers trust you now don't betray that..

Slumdog if you end up getting rid of it, buy a large bag of kitty litter and pour it in that before tossing, or if you have a garden save it and use it for pesticide this spring. The kitty litter trick is from one of our medical members that works with drugs and the thread on it can be found around here somewhere... still not awake enough yet to look for it. :)
