Who cares who uses what. The article I read, said the guy was using ecigs for over a year. It also said that it blew off part of his tongue and lit the room on fire. It's scary as hell to think about. In my opinion some if not all of that is bullsh**. I just don't see that much damage coming out of a ecig. It's a terrible tragedy and it's terrible for the vaping community. Still sounds like a scam fronted by Philip Morris tho.

Does that really happen? I never noticed. I'm not into mods at all, and would not recommend to a noob. I do see many times though where mods are the first thing recommended by some in the new members forum, without any reference to the fact that they're a little beyond what the average vaper needs.

I dunno it's how I took this one.
My $100 mod will last a lifetime, meanwhile your $20 ego/kr808 batts will keep dying & you will have to purchase new. THAT IS THE PURPOSE OF A MOD, NOT TO MENTION MORE MAH, & BETTER VAPE.

Now that we have that out of the way..... my heart goes out to the Vaper, family & friends. This is terrible news for the entire Ecig community.

I'm still waiting to hear which lifetime battery she uses in that. I hope she does regularly change them when needed so nothing goes boom.

This is of course also your opinion. May I ask which lifetime battery you are using?
If you look at my original post, I said MY MOD will last a lifetime.........not my battery. My batteries will probably last at least a year or so since i've got many different sizes and many different mods that I use at different points in time. So, yep my $10 AW-IMR battery will probably last a year compared to the lifespan of an ego battery..............I think this is pretty darn good.

I read your post I do not need to re-read it. You compared batteries to a mod. You never mentioned changing your batteries. In all fairness you have to compare apples to apples. i think your IMR battery could well last a year also. For the record, since I do not know which mod you use, I will only tell you that vaping as I'm sure you're aware is a personal thing. I have a mod, a 5 v mod, and I do not like it. Does it put out plumes of vapor? yep. But no matter how I try to switch cartomizers around I just don't seem to be able to get it as good as my 510 (I'm sure an ego would be the same but for the record I don't care for those).

I simply wanted to let people that had no clue (and they're here) that because you buy a mod you have no expense after the fact. Batteries must be eventually changed. Some more often than others.

Personally I like having to change batteries thru out the day. Mimics analogs. I like holding it just in my mouth and puffing when at work. If you have to push a button on your 100 mod it will do me NO good at certain times cause I "hold on with two hands" a lot and still like the feel of a cig hanging out of my mouth. I am glad you found "your" perfect device....but to assume it's the right PV for everyone, well it's wrong.

Regards and happy vaping,
Deach

title of this thread is contradictory ,,just more fear
Title was not meant to cause fear, the title is from the article. I was only passing on this story because I have been monitoring daily for any developments. If the guy was using a Ego or a Volt, I want to know. I doubt he was by the way.

And don't forget to toss your laptop, your iPad, and your Kindle, while you are at it.

I'm not throwing out any of those things but my cell phone has me a bit concerned since I holster it on my belt. As a precaution, I've dug out my old steel enforced cup, just to be on the safe side.

From what I've been able to find out so far it seems like Tom has owned the following mods.

Chuck
Prodigy v3
Screwdriver - MK I
Screwdriver - MK II

It also looks like he used the prodigy v3 and chuck at 6v with stacked 3v Tenergy batteries.

I want to make it clear that this information is over a year old. I am in no way saying that any of these devices or batteries were part of the incident.

What I will say is that this incident has caused me to become a little less casual with my vaping. I've been using a tube mod thats basically air tight with stacked batteries for a long time. I haven't stopped vaping, but I feel a lot better now that I've cut a nice sized vent slot in my mod.

I'm relatively certain that I've found his username across a couple of forums. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to post the username, but I would be happy to let a mod verify the information via pm.
I suggest bringing the information you have to the attention of rolygate and letting him decide what to do with it.

Not sure why, but this comment reminded me of this here:

even after the trick is revealed people still think there is some Mordor wizardry going on...

MOD or Not...
hopefully all the press will calm down soon
none of it is really helpful to our cause.
The general public wouldn't understand MOD
even if it was explained to them
So far I haven't seen anything on TV.
