I still remember thinking I was Mr Cool haveing a 9600 baud modem....I could down load a short text joke in under an hour![]()
My avatar, I see myself like Wile E. I think I'm a genius but most of my grand plans end up just like his.
What? I remember when I had an internal 2400 baud modem, and everyone was amazed that I could get on bulletin boards. They heard the modem, but could not see it! It probably cost about $100 at the time.
No usb ports... Had to manually configure the COM ports. Heck sound cards were a PITA. Remember "sound blaster compatible"?
ok.. who remembers a computer game - fortran language - called adventure, circa 1980? and if you remember it.. who remembers how to open the clam?
Yep....I remember keypunch cards. Then they went to long strips of paper fed thru the phone....then cassette tape type things that recorded the data, you put it on a phone and transported the data that way....then floppy disks, the big ones. Then diskettes. CD's. Now there's little travel drives (not sure what the official name is, I have one tho).
Wow this thread is a trip down memory lane.
And DOS! I was lost in DOS! Glad when they came out with Windows.
And my name was the name I used for my first email address years ago. dws (my initials) iz (is) me. Like ToysRus.....get it? I didn't know who to be when I joined the forum so I decided to just use that.
Wow, I've been pronouncing it down size me (dw siz me).
