Anyway, I got the dog, she's an older pup, but her 'family' doesn't want her any longer... not sure why :'( She's a Shih Tzu... looks like a Pekinese to me :/ squished face... maybe they are calling Pekinese Shih Tzu's now or sumthin... Well, she's shaved, but still matted in places on her belly, matted hair at her feet, poor old girl :'( She stunk to HIGH HEAVEN! She was a bit confused about Petco :/ Got her home and bathed her... tried blowdrying her and she bit me :'( Tried brushing her and she bit me :'( I emailed previous owners to say in 24 hrs I may return her is she continues biting and growling when I try to touch her now... she's been traumatized, poor old girl... then she came to me and growled and bit me and I see she is playing... like a pup o_O You touch her chewies and the teeth are bared... she comes close to you and snaps and it's play... damned hard to understand a grown dog when I have raised my own from pups. Mine used to LOVE baths! Bath and scratching and towel dry and toenails clipped and blow dry and run through the house like a lunatic and jump from floor to sofa to momma's lap for a growl and a face lick and then back on the floor and through the house... Well, we'll see if I can figure out this old pup... I'd hate to return her and find the family that is giving her away sends her to the pound :'( She's asleep at my feet now... and I'm trying to figure out how I'm gonna get the matted hair shaved off...

#4. Hey VVVers anyone know how good the rubber grommets endcaps work with cinnamon? Will they get eating?

Sent from my NS4G powered by CN JB

The grommets on Ray's tanks are fine with cinnamon. They are made of silicone. I not only like cinnamon, but my favorite juice appears to have a sulphuric base, so you can trust me when I say something is safe.

There was just a thread in general discussion about the top of the provari popping off and the vendor telling them to hit it with a hammer or something to fix it.

I was incredulous.

I'm enjoying my telescope though.
That's nuts!! So much for their great customer service, and unrivaled repair service!
YOU - STOP THAT . . . I've almost decided to get the "eVic" . . . Not Nice - to put something else on "My" plate that I have to consider . . . :(
(Although, I still cannot afford a "Provari" and could only get one if I won it in a contest . . . SO what's the dif . . .;))

Now - If "You" do find out any information, especially that is "NEED" to Know - Please share "My" Friend . . . :D THANKS ! ! !
I'm leaning evic (from Ray, of course!) Myself. Just need to be sure it's gonna hold up!

Well well. being older is normally good. They know how to go outside and not on your floor, and usually know what to chew on.

Need to get on top of that biting. Im not sure the best way to go about that, but I know if you dont show her you are the boss and not her, it wont get any better. Not saying beat her or anything, cause that dont work lol

Is she crate trained ? might look into that maybe. From what I have read (never crated my dogs though) It helps alot with anxiety and makes them alot calmer. Gives them some structure.

The matts I would actually let someone else do it if she is gonna be all fussy. That way she wont look at you and think about all that hassle of shaving and trauma.

If she understands NO then you need to work with her and set her boundries with the playing hard and being over protective of stuff.

On the stinks. We got some rose blossom shampoo from our vet that worked really well on our pound pup. She stunk so bad when we brought her home we had to have all the windows down in the car. 3 or 4 baths later she was bareable LOL

and yeah I know I cant spell but y'all get the meaning ;p

Lisa, the bad smell could be because of bad teeth.. 'specially in an older dog. Good for you ffor adopting an older girl. We aged do need some special attention sometimes. TroyHoot is right about the matting. Let her hate the groomer for cleaning her up.

Have I been a bad boy? I'm not allowed to "like" many of the posts!!

Absolutely, I mean absolution :nun: Someday you must enlighten me about the sin bin

Thanks - Really appreciate that at least one person got that . . . ;)

As for telling "You" about the "Sin Bin" View attachment 174403- "My" Apologies, but it is a VERY PRIVATE CLUB and I have been sworn to secrecy . . .View attachment 174401So I really cannot say anything for fear of being "BANNED" permanantly . . . NOT NICE View attachment 174402

However, What I can say to "You" is that "You" would not be alone there and to make sure "You" read ALL ECF TOS VERY WELL . . . View attachment 174404
Other than that well . . . View attachment 174405

(I think this one happened after "My" stay in the "Sin Bin" To much "Male" for some people - if you get drift . . .;))

Since it is fairly new - I have not been able to find out about that so much - however I was able to learn that most of the original "eVi'c" that did have a problem (which I was very concerned about) were either recalled and/or are not now being sold by the GOOD Vendors - Like "Ray" . . . :D Just sayin' . . . ;)

Six years for a small dog isn't old, they live for freaking ever. I cannot stress crate training enough, especially with an animal that hasn't felt safe for a long time, if ever. And I mean real crate training - not just getting a crate and letting her out the first few times she cries. Only feed the dog in the crate; only give her cookies in the crate; lock her in the crate when she needs a time-out, when you need a time out and when you sleep at night. You probably know all of this, having had dogs, but I've done rehab with some pretty messed up pooches. The worst thing about small dogs is what they can get away with because of their size. People tolerate behaviors from a small dog they would never from a large dog, but a dog is a dog is a dog. No matter the size, they will always be testing you; that's why small dogs are known to bite people more often.

Don't set yourself up to be hurt trying to get the mats out. Take her to a groomer, or even the vet if you can afford it. And leave, don't watch. Muzzling a defensive dog is more traumatic for the owner, than the dog. They are pack animals and have to know who is the leader. Many people don't really understand what that means. It isn't as much having an animal that follows your directions, as having an animal trust and feel safe with you. Alpha dogs are alpha, not because they are more aggressive, but because the pack trusts they will make the right decisions.

I rescue Border Collies. They are the smartest dogs on the planet, but also have a tendency to be the most mentally screwed up. I learned the following method long ago from a trainer and it works; young dogs, old dogs, big dogs, little dogs, it doesn't matter. You can start anytime, but the most important part is consistency. Just like a child, they will test and push the limits, but if you give in "just this once" you've trained the dog that by pushing they win - like a kid who finally gets a cookie just to shut him up - then you have to start over. I apologize for jumping on a soapbox, but I've seen too many animals repeatedly returned to shelters due to behavior problems, until they get to the point they can't be safely adopted.

This is just one website, there are others if you do a Google search on Nothing in Life is Free. Nothing in Life is Free

ETA:
...then she came to me and growled and bit me and I see she is playing... like a pup o_O You touch her chewies and the teeth are bared... she comes close to you and snaps and it's play...

That is not play, it is aggression. How would you react if a 70 pound dog behaved that way?

@Uncle
You really outdid yourself and almost took up an entyire page all by yourself! A proud Moment!

The Ultrasonic Cleaner works really well for steeping juice and cleaning attys. Surprise, it works well on cleaning jewelry too!!

#3
Thanks, Uncle and glassman for the Ultrasonic tips! For $20, I think this would probably be a good investment! Especially if you can use it to steep juices, too! I have some I have been holding off trying, just shaking daily and waiting! Do you put warm water in there to bathe them or is is just shaking that steeps them?

I know to use distilled water and/or vodka! I once cleaned my vivi nova head with tap water and dry burned a little. I put it back in the tank and was getting the most awful taste! I finally figured out that it was the chlorine from the tap water... ewwwwww! If I do rinse under tap water now, I dry burn and then give it a good vodka bath that is hopefully getting rid of all that chlorine....

1 (maybe? I'll double check.)
2. (I was wrong!)

Anyone have any thoughts on the evic's longevity? Will it hold up? You think Provari, you think it'll be around for years. Will the evic hold up just as well?

I will be the judge of how "rugged" it is, I just ordered one from ray and I am a soldier who is tough on everything.
