You'll be a nice addition to the thread Bryce - we can use a little Hawaii Aloha, and I don't think anyone would object to pictures of your hometown! Which island are you on? I had friends stationed on Oahu and was lucky enough to spend 3 weeks there a few weeks ago - absolutely stunning and awe inspiring in it's beauty, even in the middle of Honolulu!
I hope you're able to come to Disney again to celebrate your fathers life, and both of you cheating death! If anything deserves to be celebrated, that certainly does!
If you wanted to share your story, you could contact Linc and the We are Vapers crew -
We Are Vapers | An Exploration into the World of Harm Reduction | We Are Vapers . They're gathering stories and will be continuing to film through VapeStock - even if you can't make it, your family's story could be hugely inspirational to others, and could help open some eyes to how vaping can change and save lives!
My dad, his sisters and my mothers family are from Honolulu. I was born and raised on the Big Island. My family moved here because of the increasing crime rate in the late 80s to early 90s, so for a brief moment in time, I was living next to my relatives and grandparents in a huge duplex house, which we now rent out to my extended family, who we are very very close to. I live in Kamuela, the scenic country/high altitude part of the Big Island. I have a direct view of Mauna Kea and its observatory in my front yard. The bad part is that its not really like Hawaii, seeing that its in the 60's all day here and the "theme" of the town is 'paniolo' or cowboy country, and the nearest beach is a 45minute drive away. Theres definitely beauty in the scenery and a lot of virgin land to appreciate here though. Much nicer than Oahu IMo, but not as nice as my favorite island, Kauai.
I hope so too, but we would need to win the lottery to be able to go. And a big one at that with how much we owe in medical expenses.
I will give that website in the link a visit for sure. In fact, Im pretty sure that me and my father were one of the first people to sign the petition online to legalize e cigs and write letters to the FDA about how they can benefit smokers everywhere. Kind of cool how they decided to classify it under a cessation device/aid in the future (forget when though). Itll be good to spread the news to people and enlighten them on how e cigarettes, being so similar to analogs, increase a smokers chance of quitting, while being as safe, if not safer than traditional methods of nicotine replacement methods.
While we are cheating in the smoking department, its too bad we arent cheating death. While he has his sickness, I have mine also. Central Sleep apnea. No cure, no real treatment; if its my time to go early, then its time to go. On a brighter note, im pretty sure that if I didnt quit smoking, id have some sort of respatory illness now or some other serious complication, so that makes me feel a little better.
Anyway, thanks for the kind words and support. I will always push E cigarettes on the public and try and save lives. I have somewhat of a humanitarian nature inside of me, and I cant stand it when people are going to go through the heartbreak and insanity of cancer from smoking......
