The Vape Summit for 2014 in Houston Texas was a fantastic get together of vendors, distributors and mod makers from around the world. Well over 40,000 people attended this two day event that started at 10:00am Friday morning (10/7/2014) and ended Saturday night at 6:00PM.
Amongst the magnitude of people being treated to free samples of just about every juice on the market today, some angry mod makers and summit administration were busy kicking vendors to the curb for attempting to sell clones of mods, tanks and rdas, right under the noses of the actual manufactures of the authentics. The most disturbing aspect of this issue to me was that having overhead several heated arguments, many of the offenders actually believed they were selling authentics.
Though it was nice to be given samples of enough juice to not have to buy any for the next 2 years, my main purpose for attending the summit was to add some more mods and rdas to my growing collection. On Friday, the largest collection of mods in the word was auctioned off. Over 500 authentic mods and rdas with a starting bid of $10.000.00 was auctioned off. Yet, with over 80 authentic mod manufactures on site, combined they did not have 500 authentic mods to sell combined.
Though I did not bring my collection to sell, many people including the guy who actually owned the 500 plus mods to be auctioned off, were blown away by my collection of 214 authentic mods and 248 RDA's. Many of the mod makers who made them were astonished by how I came by some of the more difficult ones I have obtained and actually discussed how they were made with other mod makers and myself. One of the most common questions I asked all of them who came to my table was, 'how many of these have you actually made?' I was not surprised when a French man who made my Steampunk informed me that he has only made 718 of his.
There is no doubt that the majority of mod makers agreed that there are many people who own clones that believe they bought authentics. There was also very little disagreement that many sellers who sell authentics as clones do not realize that they are selling clones. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to talk with any of the mod makers who mass produce mods, but if I had, I would of most likely embarrassed some of them with facts I have uncovered over the past few months of their relationships with the same manufactures that produce clones of their products.
I really enjoyed the Vape Summit here in Houston. I was both delighted and amazed at seeing some very nice box mods that sell as high as $1,600.00 I was hoping to see more of the mechanical mods that a lucky few will be able to obtain over the next few months, but it is getting harder and harder for the mod makers to get these mods though US customs. Many people do not realize that many of the authentics are turned around and sent back to where they come from by US Customs agents. Though I had heard many rumors to that affect, several of the mod makers I talked to confirmed the same.
Amongst the rare mechanical mods I seen, one vendor had a beautiful Skeleton Key that was sold for 275.00 dollars. I also seen a MVC Kingpin that brought a ridiculous 485.00 dollars. I am glad that I bought mine last month for $250.00 lol. A beautiful box mod made of silver, 14kt gold and inlays of rare gems, estimated retail value of $1,600 was raffled off to someone with a lucky raffle ticket that were sold for $1.00 each.
It was a long two days, but I came home with about 300 free 30ml bottles of juice and countless 15ml samples. I definitely wont have to buy any juice for some time to come. Amongst some of my favorite vendors that showed up, the booths of Suicide Bunny, Holy Grail, 2 Puffs and Steam were constantly packed with people. Anyone need a t-shirt, ball cap or juice sample?
