Hello everyone... I hope you're all having a spectacular weekend - I'm having a lazy one for a change. It's good to catch up on all that's been going on. Some great images and music as usual.

I see guppy has shared his mug with you all :) - did you win the contest guppy?

Hi Alis, I really liked Beats Antique got the dubstep bass w/out being dubstep - pretty cool... and the second one too - bookmarked ;) TY

Sun, I sure hope the kittehs are fine - those were definitley cute pix you posted :) The painting are nice too Sun, I also like the "odd-shaped" cats under the moon.

Pri and Sun... I absolutely love rain. Probably now more than ever since it's relatively rare here, but everytime it rains and I look out at the Sandia mountains, I really want to be up there camping. It may sound odd, but I recall the moment that makes me feel that way... a camping trip up in the Santa Cruz mountains when I was a kid. The skies opened up for the entire day, and we just hung out under a tarp for the day tending the fire and playing cards. We barely had anything to eat since a raccoon had ransacked our goods the previous night. Not very exciting but certainly memorable and apparently left an impression on me.

Hey SD, good song and fitting for the rainy day theme... I bet it's fun plowing the snow when you have a hook-up for your truck - I sure know I would - as long as it wasn't all-the-time.

Sorry I missed you whodat and doom - hope all is well.

1st to say, great stuff cactus! You amaze me with what you bring and i love it and don't get me started on snow plowing because i love it and always have! That was my main job at the Outdoor Lab School for 9years in the winter anyway and i get very creative with my plowing and very detailed indeed! Back in the big mtn ranch country, I learned all forms of snow removal, let alone the almost 20 years I did it too for the School District at other School Sites and on my own! I believe this is my forth snow plow pick up truck and it's a nice one, 2008 Dodge 4 door 4 wheel drive(ofcourse)and a "BOSS" plow this time, I've had my Western's and Meyer's and this "BOSS" seems to be the best! I help my neighbors out and do my own and thats about it for now but love to show off of what i can do with it and to see there amazement works for me, I'm very good at it and just love doing it! Different strokes for different folks, crazy isen't it! Kinda like this but not quite, close though!

It's Daytona 500 Sunday! The first race of the season and the biggest! Starts at 10am I believe, already have it set to record!

Dale Earnhardt lost his life in this race in 2001 and it was kind of a freak thing, he'd been through much worse, his seat belt broke when he hit the wall they say! He was the greatest racer of all time to me and still is today, I believe! A legend and even in his own time! The big #3

His son Dale Jr which is a great racer will be there racing in #88 and I'll be a rootin for him too! He just posted the fastest lap at the final practice today and good luck tomorrow Dale!

That's awesome SD... if I ever get some ranch land I'll hope to have you as a neighbor... reminds me of a buddy who grew up in North Dakota and now resides in KC, MO... he absolutely loves mowing lawns and bought himself a nice rising mower a couple years ago. His neighborhood doesn't have fences (at least not all houses do), so on the weekends he'll just go out for a few hours and just mow his and neighbors lawns - for the fun of it. For him I guess it's just the "alone-time", listening to music, and the childhood memories I suppose... I know I couldn't get "that into it", but for him it's apparently just therapeutic.

The season is upon us eh. Honestly I never got into pro-racing of any sort only drag racing myself... it just wasn't big in the Bay Area. I remember though seeing the Earnhardt crash live at the time and thinking there's no way he could survive that impact - terrible day for racing I know. I used to drag race out in Sacramento when I was 17, I actually had a blown out '78 Camaro that did a 12.5 1/4 mile. Fun times, I'd head out to Manteca to meet up with friends and we'd take old highway 99 (that I-5) replaced - so little/no traffic. We'd hit 155 for a great portion of the drive there - dangerous in hindsight but fun as kids (and gas was affordable - even to kids ;))

SD I'm going to have to watch Mask again... it's only been 20+ years since I've seen it. I recall the storyline but not the movie in its entirety. I'm sure it'll have more impact today than when I was a pup.

Pri... nice song, never heard of Fogelberg before. I even listened to Leader of the Band (his biggest hit I suppose) and no recollection :( - nice and mellow though - thanks for the introduction :) The Princess Bride... fun and cute movie (well-balanced romance, adventure, and comedy) - Indigo, Vizzini and Fezzik... great supporting characters IMO.

Love museums... as you should Pri - having access to the best of the best ;) When we were there, we got caught in a rain storm and sought shelter within the Met (we'd been planning to go there regardless ;)) but I think we could have spent days there just admiring all the works. One could certainly vacation there and spend a week at just the Met and Guggenheim - you're too lucky :)

Oh so glad the cold is gone...lots of people have been ill and oh love love museums guppy oh hope the children just love it ..it's fantastic when they do....oh enjoy it and thank you so so much i just LOVE that song...love it * {{{{{hugs}}}} xoxo

That's a nice "our song" for you and your wife guppy. My GF and I have "several songs", but consider this "our official song"... don't ask why we're not married... I'll just sound like a jackass (we've been together long enough for sure) ;)

This me and my wife's song :)

Yeah I don't really get into all the Nascar stuff but don't miss the Daytona 500! You should check out the Arizona Nationals or whatever they call it, NHRA tomorrow, ESPN 2 at 6pm mtn time! I love drag racing, I just sold my 1967 Camaro 10 second drag car some years back, I even got a Wally with it, if you know what that is? I did all my own engine work and everything but the machine shop work! I ran it in Super Street for NHRA events and Super Pro for ET events, alotta fun and a lotta money and finally got too much, the fuel then was over $5 a gallon, don't know now, probably $10 or $15 or more! Anyway check it out, the NHRA pro guys just ran there first race at Pamona last weekend and this weekend it's Arizona! I like watching the Nitro cars at over 300mph and under 4 seconds at 1000 feet, great stuff, WILD! Oh and my first street racer was a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner 426cu in 425 hp and used to take it to the strip too! Great car and think i told you about it, or told someone, anyway back then you could have a great car like that for just over $3000 and it was a 12 second car without doing much to it, fun for an 18 or 19 year old kid and that tells ya what age your dealing with here, whipper snapper!
My Camaro looked something like this when i first bought it

And more like this, after some time!

I wish I had all my old pics and know it sounds like BS but I lost most on one of my moves and many, many didn't go on the pc but when I do run across some I will post with authenticity! All I know is the guy that bought the Camaro is having fun in Texas and said he had it in the low 9 second range, a lot different than up here at altitude at Bandemeer Speedway!

Very nice SD... yeah sometimes I get the itch to grab onto a project car, but then there's nothing to do with it out here, besides "those" days are gone. I loved the '67 Camaro, not as much as the Chevelle of the same year though. Isn't the Wally a trophy? Where did you get 10 sec (not in CO I bet) - oh NVM @ Bandimeer Speedway - damned impressive? You must have been using more than a jet fuel mixture back then right? Bet you still wish you had that '68 Plymouth Roadrunner - super nice car (stock even). I only have a couple hardcopy photos of my ride back then, maybe I'll give 'em a scan soon :)

Oh and as far as work goes, I didn't do too much from the state I bought it in, except every year we'd have to pull the engine and slap in a similar stock engine, just to pass emissions in CA :2cool:. I was getting too many tickets for speeding and car being too loud - no exhaust just headers... would set off car alarms left and right. One morning I picked up my GF and she went for a seat and fell on the floor - I forgot to mention I'd stripped the interior - oops  - she wasn't pleased. Those were the reasons I ended up selling mine. I take it yours wasn't street-legal and you treated it that way... I needed mine a a "daily driver" too.

Well the Camaro was smaller and lighter than the Chevelle, was one thing! Yes the Wally(wally Parks originator of NHRA)is a trophy for NHRA Nationals and Divisional events, I won mine at a division 5 event! I ran in the Super Classes which are Super comp, super gas and super street, which are run under an ET index. 8.90, 9.90 and 10.90 and thats sea level standards. So what they do is have an adjusted altitude index and at Bandemere which is at an altitude of 5800 feet aprox that 8.90 is 9.47, the 9.90 becomes 10.53 and the 10.90 is now 11.59 and there are tricky calculations here to determine that and not going to go into that! Running at altitude is quite different than sea level, takes a lot of different jet configurations for carbs, gearing and timing also very important and basically have to run a much leaner combination. So anyway I have had my car run a high 10 seconds on a good air day because what the car see's and what the actually altitude is, is two different things! Use of a weather station is needed and i had one where you can calculate what the car see's! So on a medium day running at 5800 feet the cars thinks it's running at about 8500 feet due to humidity, temp, barometric pressure and actual altitude and a few other factors. So you calculate all of this to find the adjusted altitude of what the car see's and you can get pretty good at this after a while and tune accordingly and thats what i found to be the most fun, to learn how to set everything up and make good consistant runs and having all the right electronics, in the car and other for tuning purposes! Oh yeah and fuel, I used Leaded 102 octane, it all depends on your compression ratio of what to use. If you use to high or low for your ratio, your defeating the purpose of higher or lower octane! WOW, i'd love to be into this again and thats why i love watching racing so much and knowing a lot of what goes into it, very sophysticated!

sucp_1007_01_o+1967_chevrolet_camaro_z28+driver_side_launch.jpg

And like these Nitro cars, they rate them at something like 10,000 HP now and when something goes wrong it's like a nuclear explosion, fun to watch!
