Cool video and pic SD. I passed on a couple cross-country drives when I was a kid - my brother went but I couldn't stand the thought of being cooped up in a car for the summer. In hindsight I sort of wish I had gone. For some years I liked road tripping but never to the extent of going coast to coast... nowadays I hate driving for more than eight hours at a stretch. I suppose driving used to be more leisurely and there was less traffic...

Got me thinking of route 66 and memories of the past cactus! I used to travel a lot, coast to coast in the early 70's and such and found it easy to do on the cheap! Used to spend some time in ABQ and loved the place as i traveled through, many stories to tell from there and tried to travel the old route 66 as much as possible but even then it was a dying hyway but was fun finding new old places and learning the history and not much left now except for short tourist stretches and such for the times but very interesting and love the nostalgia of it all!

I'd give it a go... unless of course you think a compound fracture of the forearm and a couple blown out knees would be a downer

guppy -- Congrats on the happy marriage! (You didn't specifically say you're happy, but the tone comes through.)

My fiance is from Ukraine (no, she's not one of those Russian mail-order brides. We've known each other 40 years). She insists we have a kolomyjka at the after-wedding celebration.

Typical one:

I doubt I'm up to it. :)

Junior and the drummer are fighting
About a woman in the neighborhood
Oh, the drummer never hit a bad lick in his life
And Junior never hit any good
Yeah, the colonel said that women are for loving, not fighting,
But that didn't clear the air
'Cause Junior's still living in the blackboard jungle
With his Elvis Presley hair

[Chorus:]
Yeah, the drummer's got the drum, the colonel's got the gun
And Junior's only got a knife, he'd better run
It's a shootout on the plantation, it's so hard to understand
Why do some people have to hurt somebody?
The firewater's not the villain.
Oh the last one to kiss is the first to shoot
And stabbing your friends is such a drag to boot
It's a shootout on the plantation
Oh, heaven help Mister Swan, yeah. (help me)

And the cold steel blade is shining
Enough to cause your blood to freeze
But the drummer is drumming a Rolling Stones' number
On Junior's head and on his knees
Oh, Oklahoma's lonesome cowboys are turned on in Tinsel Town
I knew there'd be some cameras rolling if Andy was standing around.

[Chorus]

Won't somebody help me
You gotta help me, help me, help me..
Why don't you help me, help me?
Why don't you tell me about it?
Why don't you scream and shout it?
Won't you help your mister?
Won't you kiss your sister?

More Leon Russell

Now the day is gone and I sit alone and think of you, girl
What can I do without you in my life?
I guess that our guessing game just had to end that way
The hardest one to lose of all the games we played

But the time is past for living in a dream world
Lying to myself can't make that scene
Of wondering if you love me or just making a fool of me
Well I hope you understand I just had to go back to the island

[Chorus:]
And watch the sun go down (sit and watch the sun go down)
Hear the sea roll in (listen to the sea roll in)
But I'll be thinking of you (yes, and I'll be thinking of you)
And how it might have been (thinking how it might have been)
Hear the night birds cry (listen to the night birds cry)
Watch the sunset die (sit and watch the sunset die)
Well I hope you understand I just had to go back to the island

Well all the fun has died, It's raining in my heart
I know down in my soul I'm really gonna miss you
But it had to end this way with all the games we played
Well I hope you understand I just had to go back to the island

[Chorus 2x]

Last Leon for now:)

Janie was my first love
we shared the pains of school
she offered me a balance for awhile
and she gave me innocence
I seemed like less a fool
she always had a line to make me smile
but we separated early
not an easy thing too do
sometime seem tomorrow'd never come
but we couldn't keep together
for all the times we tried
we had a sad reunion tonight

Oh how we laughed together
trapped in the grapes of wrath together
yes and we loved each other
Me and Baby Jane
but now she's gone forever
Lord help me stay together
see her vacant eyes and a needle in a vain
Oh baby, baby, Baby Jane

I see the purple mountains
I'm lost and in between
a place that I know well and in a bad dream
Others stand beside me too late to try and find
excuses in the face of being blind
but now she is awaiting for the feeling of the cold
to free her from the nightmare of old
she was a part of me silently alone
and too far down to draw the line

Oh how we laughed together
trapped in the grapes of wrath together
yes and we loved each other
Me and Baby Jane
but now she's gone forever
Lord help me stay together
I see her in the sky and early morning rain
Oh baby, baby, Baby Jane
