My wife was aggressively non-supportive of my smoking. My wife is not supportive of my vaping. I told her I could go back to smoking but this time it would be inside the house. She yielded under duress. She was not supportive when I had a motorcycle. She wasn't supportive when I wanted to buy a sports car. She is not supportive when I eat bacon or cheeseburgers. Or bacon cheeseburgers. She isn't supportive of my Starbucks addiction. I told her I could replace it with a raging alcohol addiction. She said I wasn't funny. She isn't supportive of when I am funny. She has some sort of negative reaction to things that bring me joy. But other than that, things are great. Terrific. Yeah. I have to go cry in the shower now.
And you're still married to her? :sneaky: You glutton for punishment you!!!!

Told both my ex's to never make me chose between them or the bike. I still have the bike. :D
Last year while hubby was on his yearly 2 week bike tour to Colorado he met some guys at an overnight park. They were amazed that his wife encourages him to enjoy his bike. I used to go with him but it has gotten to painful for me. There is absolutely no reason for him to give it up just because I can no longer do it.

Some guys have to fight tooth and nail and bribe to get to go enjoy their bike. I just don't understand that kind of relationship. I wonder if it is a trust issue or if it is jealousy and the wives don't want their hubbies to enjoy time away from them. He will be going up to the south Dakota this year to visit our ex brother in law. :D

I think the secret to a successful marriage/relationship is giving each other space. If trust/mistrust is a issue then a successful marriage/relationship can be a very rocky road to travel. BTW: Hubby and I just celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary.

And that is all from Dear Abby :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I solved this kind of issue years ago.

Divorced the wife, got a dog.
lmao I like the way you think! I went through a couple years hoping for a relationship, then I swore off relationships and rotated FWBs, after a couple years of that I got my one true love, Who will and has loved me through the hardest time/s in my life, my 3 yr old Aussie Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix Satie Vae! (pronounced 'SAY-TEE VAY'... It took me ~a week to decide what to name her bc I had to put a spin on it, lose the E's and the space, youll see ;) hehe dont be ashamed if you have to write it down to figure it out) She's done more than I can type for my mom and I... My mom was Diagnosed with Leukemia a year and a half ago, and ended up with septic shock from a Staph infected 'PICC' line (delivers meds directly to the heart,) which led to a Month long Induced Coma, we came close to losing her but she made it! anyway she was VERY weak after leaving the hospital (they shouldve done more PT) and having issues going from sitting to standing, especially after sitting for any length of time... within the first four days Satie had basically trained herself to support my Mom when she would stand up! I couldnt believe the weight a 75lb dog could support! (we would never put too much pressure on her though, dont want to risk her getting hurt.) It was mostly at night, bc my Mom didnt want to wake me up just to help her stand up, even though I told her to... but that Dog has changed our lives for the better! Especially when it comes to my depression/anxiety... She is just amazing and I dont have to worry about her sleeping with my friends, so thats another plus over some past relationships lol live and learn! Just thought Id put in my :2c:, Ill never pass up an oppurtunity to brag on my Vaby!

That is a wonderful dog! I have an Aussie mix, and a Border Collie mix. These dogs are so loyal and smart!

I think the issue has been touched on, people need their own interests even if the passion is not shared with your SO, at least let them enjoy their passion. My hubby is a tractor nut, me sure tractors are fine, they are fun to drive, but no I don't eat sleep tractors, they are not my thing. But for him they are his life, fine with me

THEY ARE! I usually tell people that 'My dog is too smart for my own good' lol I remembered seeing an ad when I was around 10 years old, it was a guy camping, sitting by the fire with his dog sitting right at his side... I thought "I wish I had a dog that was that loyal, etc."... and sure enough, Sati has a habit of sitting either at or ON my feet lol Im really glad she was the last puppy there... I cant imagine having any other dog in the world... I wouldnt want any other! I've always been a 'dog person' so to speak, as in I preferred dogs to cats or other animals... but I didnt really know what that phrase really meant until I got my Vae. She's actually been a big factor in helping me quit (Im a dual user, but down to 5 cigs a day usually) because I felt so horrible about her breathing in my 2nd hand smoke. We switched to smoking outside and its help us cut down even more! Ive been struggling with these last steps though... Between depression and stress, etc. it feels like Ill never make the final jump... Slowly but surley I suppose

I almost feel guilty chiming in here... My wife supports every single activity I engage in no matter how asinine it is.
She wasn't too thrilled about me going sky-diving for my birthday a few years ago, but she encourages me to grow my beard, keep my long hair, scuba diving, Cameras of every kind and format, etc...
She wants me to get a motorcycle, start home brewing beer again, (we have 2 refrigerators in the shed that's dedicated to beer).
The freezers of both fridges are storing nic.
I also own 2 Reo Grands and a Woodville... she bought all three for me, and now owns a Grand and a Woodville for herself.
I empathize with everyone here with a spouse that restricts every aspect of your lives, I've been through it before... not pretty.

Sorry, I didn't mean to rub anyone's nose in it...
I just feel blessed and felt the need to share.:)

I'm gonna go give her a hug and tell her how much she means to me now...

You will get there :) My toughest cig to give up was morning coffee one, took me a month to stop that one cig habit. I Eventually replaced it with vape and have been off cigs since 2011 I love vaping!

I watched as they began their ride out of town yesterday. Not sure how many clubs were involved but it took over an hr for them all to pass.
I feel sorry for those whose other 1/2 don't allow them to have this much fun!

I bet you do dishes, vacuum and or keep her car clean. Men just don't understand how sexy they are with a broom in their hand. My hubby totally supports me. He told me buy what you need if it means you never smoke again. 26 years and going strong.
