I started vaping in May, smoking 15-20 cigarettes a day. At the beginning of Sept I was down to 5-6/day and last Thursday I smoked my last one. I have one pack left and its in the freezer. (I'd rather choose not to smoke them than feel like I can't smoke them) when I turn 70 all bets are off. Haha. I am currently vaping 100% vg 12mg of nic. I have a shoebox full of juice and when it gets low I plan on stocking up on 6mg, rinse and repeat til Iam at 0 nic. So far so good. I've had a few frustrating moments but I just vape away til the urge passes. Good luck and welcome to ECF!

Yup! I'm glad to see someone else doing that besides me. I don't know if it'll work for everyone, but it's been a great physiological trick on me: knowing that I'm in complete control of if I have another cigarette. It's been a few months for me, but one of these days I want to take my pack I have left and frame it on the wall or something.

I know, I'm a bit sentimental :p

Though there is another trick I used back when I had big cravings: tell myself to wait two hours. I would tell myself that if I still wanted a cigarette in two hours, I would promise myself I wouldn't feel bad for having one. It just took cranking up my wattage a little bit on the device, and doing something else. Then I would look up from my desk in three or four hours and realize that I no longer had the craving.

Oooh that's a good idea, then I won't have to worry about becoming addicted at 70 and cigarettes costing upwards of $100/pack :p

I have been vaping for 2 months now. I used to smoke about a pack of little cigars a day. They are still only $1.89/pack. Since I have started vaping, I cut back to roughly 1-3 a day and they taste like crap now. I have even caught myself putting one out right after I lit it. It's weird though because I find myself smoking more at work than if I am at home. Usually on the weekends, I only have that first morning smoke at around 11 a.m and I am good for the day. A pack now will last me 7-9 days. I am glad 0% is working for you. Keep up the good work and happy vaping!!

I smoked 3/4 pack a day for 7ish years.

The day I impulsively purchased an ecig for 'fun', was the last day I smoked a cigarette, almost 2.5 months smoke free.

Still now it baffles me how easy it was to switch, and how much I didn't miss smoking. Prior to vaping I tried to give up a few times, and would last a 2 days max, and my mind would be riddled with thoughts about smoking, not the case this time :)

I didn't even realize when I had my last one. I didn't have that last cig freak out moment lol. It actually happened very naturally.

This is one neat thing: I used to freak out when I had only a half-pack of cigarettes left and I planned out how I would ration them until I went to the store. I don't do that at all now. If I run out, I vape.

I know the feeling; alot of people do.

I moved to 0 nic pretty quick also, but I did keep a special tank with nic liquid just for an occassional puff and highly recommend doing that in the earlies.

Once I found I could stay off the cigs themselves, vaping nic sometimes has not been a problem.

I just started vaping 2 weeks ago, I had a half a pack/day habit. I decided to go easy on myself and get 12 nic juice to start, and so far I'm down to 1 cig a day max (usually when I forget I had to charge the batteries and I'm craving my nicotine, lol). That one cig, it's almost like a reminder of why I'm switching; the drag is so light in comparison and the taste is bland and nasty. Eventually I want to decrease the nicotine, but right now I'm just happy to have a way to get my nicotine that won't involve freezing this winter!

I am at 51 days cig free from a pack to pack and a half day habit. I started vaping and no cigs since. My first juice was 18mg but am down to 12mg now. This seems to be my comfort zone for now, so I'm in no hurry, but will drop down further down the road. To me vaping has been a miracle. I didn't think I would ever be able to quit.

This thread has been great for me, everyone. I'm in a similar boat right now. I still have one in the morning, one on the way to work, one on the way home, and one before bed. I find the higher nic juices to be really irritating on the throat, but I haven't tried any for a while. Are there any blends of PG/VG that make it better? Is my local shop's high-nic juice just garbage? Again, thanks for the inspirational words. Happy vaping!

I started vaping with 24mg juice. The first week I was down from 2 PAD to a couple with coffee and one after each meal. Sometimes, I'd have a cig before bed. I vaped all day long with a Joye 510 cig-a-like and a fixed voltage eGo with the early A, B, and C tanks and cartridge atomizers.

I did that for a couple of years. One day I started vaping and smoking after each meal just to compare. The vape tasted good and the cig tasted pretty nasty. Once I accepted that realization I knew I could quit those last few and I did. There were no withdrawal symptoms at that point.

Earlier this year I started cutting my nic level from 24mg to 6mg. I first dropped to 18, then 12, then 6. I vaped a little harder for a few days each time, but it was really easy. I'm thinking now I could go to 0 nic and not miss it, but a little nic is supposed to be good for the mental processes. After the first week I was able to stand around smokers and vape and not want a cig. My wife smoked sitting next to me while I vaped for over a year before she used a prescription med to quit. She never really liked the tedium of vaping, even if I maintained her ecig carts for her.

Don't think that vaping is addictive like tobacco. Your cigarette is carefully designed with chemicals intended to create and maintain your addiction. Ecig juice is just plain old unadulterated nic and you can taper off without withdrawal issues. The most addictive part of vaping is that it replaces the hand to mouth actions of smoking. It gives us something to do and provides a little nic to stave off the desire for a cig.

Higher pg tends to make the nic hit harsher.
