At long last, after about 20 years away from the sport, I finally got myself a new bow. My question for you bow hunters (and gun hunters as well) is about vaping while hunting. Do you do it?

I'm thinking that, since I now vape primarily unflavored juice, that the smell would likely be so little, the quarry would not be overly aware of my "hide."

When I smoked, I would never smoke while stalking or hunting, but this seems to change everything. So, what do you do?

I would have to think it would depend on what your hunting. I mean some game animals sense of smell might be attracted to Gummi bear juice. You never know, you might be vaping something that might attract them. Not trying to be funny, I would think some game would be wary of any scent they might be unfamiliar with in familiar surroundings. I see your from Texas, I'm assuming boars would be the game your after since I hear they are a big problem in the southwest. If I remember correctly, their sense of smell is better than bloodhounds.

We hunt on our own land, so I don't know if the deer were perhaps used to our smell since we walk the property a lot during the off season. Not only would we not wash our hunting clothes every time we went out, but my husband would even smoke in his tree stand. We've had our fair share of shots at deer over the years, and many even within bow range. I am sure we'll both be vaping this year in the stands, although unflavored PG to keep the smell and the vapor down sounds like a good idea.

I have yet to hunt while vaping, as last deer season I was using analogs. But I did use analogs while hunting but only one or two while on stand. I am going to vape this year that’s for sure. Analog smoke is thick and can travel very far, plus the smell. I am sure how long it would linger on a person anyway. I am not sure, but I think a apple of some kind should do ok. The vapper seems to go away pretty quick so that is a plus. I also look at it this was. I have a cat and dog. Anytime analog smoke would get even close to them the would sneeze, cough, close there eyes and run away. Now I can blow tons of vapor right at them and don’t even flinch or care.

We always smoked while hunting. Maybe it caused some problems, idk. But there were always lots of deer to shoot at lol. I'd say vape away. Don't know about where you guys live, but in WV, there are freakin deer all over. You can get'em with a hammer here lol.

yeah I agree. and I only shoot the stupid ones anyway.

Yea, we're primarily looking at hog hunting, but some deer must be in the fridge as well. I'm liking the comments about vaping apple type juices. I'm not a huge apple fan, but if that'll put venison and pork in the fridge by golly, I'll suffer through it.

We'll be hunting on public land, but I usually "hunt the wind" anyway.

Yea, I used to bow hunt up in Wisconsin. Down here the deer are barely larger than big dogs.

LOL...sounds like me. Especially bow hunting. I have to figure out a way to get 'em to turn broadside and stand still though. They don't mind well. :p

I vaped all last season. Like with all things hunting, if you don't play the prevailing winds right you'll get busted(no matter how careful you are, you give off scents that don't belong). Just be smart about it and you'll do fine.

That's kinda what I was thinking.

I guess I'm lucky where I live. We have some Thompson trophy bucks as well as plenty of pig. The pig graze right alongside the cattle. It's not unusual to see 20 or more pigs at any given time. Maybe it's cowpies they like. Cowpies override any smell. I'll be glad to sell you a pie or two any time you'd like. :D

Blech!! Thanks, but no thanks. I think we have plenty around here for free. :p

I bow hunt too and the whitetails nose is way too good I don't chance it, I figure if I go through all the trouble to de-scent why ruin it. when I vape unflavored my husband says smell sweet, no actual smell just sweet.

Good to know. Thanks!
