Hei... i have vaped a year now and recently i stopped, because i started to feel weird-tightness around throat and itchiness in belly(like you have with anticipation). Those symptoms may indicate thyroid problem and today i went to doctor and they took some blood test-ill get the answers in a week. I started to get these symptoms when i started to smoke different e-liquid(about 2 months ago)...well i dindt get those symptoms all the time when i vaped the new e-liquid, but i did get those every now and then-soo i stopped vaping and after 2 weeks i got these symptoms again-and now im really worried that i ruined my health with vaping. Has anyone had any problems with thyroid after starting to vape? And is it even possible that e-liquid could ruin your thyroid?

Since you started having the symptoms again 2 weeks after you stopped vaping, I doubt that vaping and thyroid symptoms are related. Glad you went to the docs and had some tests. Thyroids go whack for all sorts or reasons...so sorry you having trouble :(.

I very much doubt it, personally, especially since the symptoms stopped, and came back, after you stopped vaping.

I can't think of anything in e-juice that would trip up ones thyroid. Most of the stuff that can trigger it is radiation-related and there's certainly no radiation from e-cigs.

Also, smokers are at higher risk. This could, very possibly, be an unfortunate side-effect of having smoked for a long period of time.

Also, keep in mind, nothing's said and done until the results get back.

I have almost every symptom of hyperthyroidism. I've been tested for over and over for the last few years, up, down, and sideways, and I've also been tested for every other disease and disorder that can cause symptoms like hyperthyroidism. Nothing. All negative.

So, just wait for the test results basically.

Were you a smoker before you started vaping? Have you gone back to regular cigs? Cigarette smoking can cause thyroid issues.

I'm not a doctor. But I've had hypothyroidism for years and have never heard of those symptoms.

BUT... those are typical symptoms of a reaction to Aspartame.... have you been experiencing a heat wave and are you drinking lots of diet sodas?
Aspartame causes blood vessels to restrict in the neck and throat as well as other parts of the body. Many professional singers avoid aspartame because it dramatically limits their range by constricting their vocal chords.

I hope you find the problem soon.

Good thing you went to your doctor, smart move. If it's broken, fix it.

When I began vaping, I had a tightness in my throat. It was actually a ball of fluid, because when I looked up, I could feel fluid draining down my throat. I also got ear infections. I auto-inflated -- pinched nose shut and blew air to inflate cheeks, thus popping ear drums lightly to assist drainage of ear canals. I did this for about three weeks until everything cleared up. I can't advise anyone else to try this, as I am not a doctor, but I did get this info from my son's ENT specialist years ago.

On another note, some ppl get a Herxheimer reaction (can read about it on wikipedia or google it) while they are detoxing. IOW, you get worse before you get better. You probably know this, but drink a lot of water. I read a doctor's report that says you should take your weight and divide it by 2 to see how many ounces you should be drinking each day. Sorry about your delay in vaping, and I hope you feel better soon.

I'm the only one in my family that didn't have thyroid problems. Since I am new (a little over a month) to vaping, I haven't had any of those symptoms, but I use VG e-juice. I'm so glad you went to your doctor and if your symptoms get any worse before you get your results, I'd go back, especially if you feel like it's starting to cut your air intake.:2c: I wish you well.

Hi, I have Graves Disease, and have been both hyper(prior to treatment) and hypo(during treatment), even having a goiter I never experienced a tight feeling in my throat and certainly never any itchy feelings.

I know people tend to not want to listen to wikipedia however I have done lot's of research since my diagnoses(another story in itself) and have found that the information they have on the thyroid is pretty accurate. Also you might want to look up some things on the mayo clinic website. I find it to be an excellent medical resource.

I'm glad you went to the doctor and sure hope you figure out what it is that's caused you grief.

I too have Graves Disease, and have never had the OP's symptoms. Only time I have had a tight feeling in my throat is while smoking. Allergies have even cleared up some since quitting analogs.

I've always been hypo~ as well, but it is something that should be dealt with by a professional function test.
I did find that increasing D3 levels every day I take 1000mg+some in my other supplements, and can really tell the difference if I don't. It really dealt with sleep disturbances, just general all around mood and feeling of well being. I think being hypo you're prone to fatigue and crawly itchy sensations especially when trying to fall asleep...drives a person crazy! I always had to get up, walk around, read, watch tv, etc., then go back and try again. Sometimes I'd even make a cup of coffee. (I drink too much!) Or a bowl of cereal lightly sugared. Wouldn't hurt to do some pancreatic testing as well if you have excessively dry skin, dry mouth, dry eyes, and mucosa, etc. D3 and Omega3 for me really helped to lessen the effects of hypothyroidism. Mine is just low normal, I was told, but should go back to a good Dr....no one gave me numbers or function parameters. I doubt they knew what they were talking about, seriously.
Best of luck to you, Kutsikas15! And Congratulations on your Year of Quit!

Hello fellow Thyroid sufferers!:)
I too have hyper and its a disease often masked by and exacerbated by SMOKING - my symptoms improved once I started vaping and my doc reduced my meds. Now I get to take them one a day or none if I feel ok down from 3 a day. Mine onset about a month PRIOR to starting vaping btw.
Perhaps the OP is simply dehydrated. Dehydration can cause a whole host of issues in the body and vapers get more dehydrated than smokers.
