I work for a corporate company in the customer service department. I was telling our HR generalist about how I quit smoking and have starting using a vp to help in my goal of staying off analogs. She told me that since it's not "smoking", she'd have to inform management that I'd be using it at my desk. She volunteered this information without any prompting by myself.

I told her I wasn't interested in using it at my desk (too public for me to have some sort of announcement go out), but I'd use the bathroom or something like that. She said it was fine and she'd address it individually with anyone who mentioned it to her. I was pleasantly surprised by this.

Has anyone else had a similar situation? Can you vape inside?

I vaped at my old job and no one noticed for a week. Then this mean manager I SHOWED the vaporizer to told the bosses. They never talked to me but this ....... said if I ever used it inside again he'd have me fired. So in my opinion, it's best if you don't tell your superiors or even your co-workers and just let out your puffs discreetly. I still vape when I'm in my nursing courses and no one notices - one teacher I had was really liberal and I'd vape right in front of her and she never said anything, but then again it was a speech class and she would leave the room for 10 minutes every midterm/final to allow us to cheat so your mileage may vary!

I am a network consultant, so I don't have a desk in an office that I work at everyday. However, I have shown most of my clients my pv and so far I have had no complants from any of them when I vape in their server rooms or at a desk. In fact, I even got a few of the people that smoke to think about vaping instead of smoking.

To those of you considering using without running it past the management first... just remember there was a thread on here a week or two ago by someone who got 'caught' and fired for doing that.

I vape at my desk when my boss isn't around, just because I don't want to lose my smoke breaks :p. He knows about my 510 and thinks it's great. I even converted one of my co-workers to get a pv as well. I do enjoy getting to get up and go talk with my co-workers who smoke/vape so I'm not just sitting here all day.

First of all, I'm not sure why you needed to ask permission to vape in the bathroom, but anyway...

I vape in my cube. I vape outside with the smokers on our smoke breaks. I vape in the bathroom.

I pretty much just vape as I please. :)

My company has some nosy, and vocal, employees. I've found that it's better to give people a heads up BEFORE it becomes an issue. I know that if I hadn't spoken with someone higher up, one of the employees would have seen "smoke" in the bathroom and an email would have gone out to everyone on the site about "smoking in the bathroom" or even worse, being called into the VP's office and having him yell about "smoking" because no one bothers to get the facts before hand. After all, if it looks like smoke it probably is...

It wouldn't have mattered if there was a smell or not. Then I would be in a worse position to explain what was going on, which could potentially force me to stand outside in the rain when I wished to indulge or even be fired.

I stealth vape in my cubicle all day. Nobody is, or will ever be the wiser. I don't blow out clouds of vapor, I hold it in until it is gone. As far as anyone is concerned, I'm just chewing on the end of a pen.

If I brought the issue to management, they would be quick to ban it in the building. It's just a fact. I know the environment I work in. I doubt I would be fired if caught, since my manager likes me and I am a valued employee, but they'd probably tell me I couldn't do it anymore.

I stealth vape in my office. I also go outside for a quick "smoke" break once an hour. for like 5 min. just to get my eyes off the computer. I have shown it to my boss and explained to him what it is. I dont think he would have a problem with me doing it at my desk but I just take a puff and hold it in till no vaper comes out. I have been talking to a few of the rig pushers ( I work for an oilfield company) since there are places they cannot have open flames and a lot of them smoke I have been telling them about PVs and a few of them are very curious about it.
