Vaping in public

So sorry for your loss! And yes, those memories will last.

Thank you so much for that.. I'm still walking around in a fog, trying to wrap my head around the loss. :(
I know it takes a long time for the grief to become more tolerable, but for now I just have to take one day at a time, and think about the good memories..
Thank you again, your kindness is deeply appreciated..

It is a match or lighter that can cause the gases in oxygen to ignite or explode. And since there's no need for a match or lighter to vape, there's no risk posed. :)

I think the hottest attys are cooler than would cause a problem with oxygen if there were no flammable fumes in the air. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with it, personally. Kind of like analogs at gas stations: you ever try to light gasoline with a cigarette? Even though it doesn't work, I wouldn't smoke near a gas pump.

Glad you didn't have someone as overly cautious as I am hassling you.

When I started vaping (3 months ago) I told my self that I wasn't quitting smoking, just quitting tobacco. To that end, I went out for my smokes just like always. I would go about my business as I always had, at work, at home, everywhere. Then, one evening at my local watering hole, I just took a few drags inside and my whole world changed. I was suddenly free. Since then, I vape when I want, where I want. In addition to the new found liberty, I have had the opportunity to discuss PV use with others and I've even helped a few people exchange a bad habit for a better one.

As many have pointed out in this thread and others, using a PV in public is good for us all!

hahaha......

it certainly is a conversation starter. i was at a family gathering the past weeked and now 3 of them want the same thing (which i will order for them).
what is starting to bother me a bit is the fact that i seem to be the one that has to do it all for them. not the unit itself but juices as well and as u all know, its hit n miss.
i do like that they are interested and gladly ge them off analogs but...its starting to take up lot of time to explain it all and then order stuff. the last 3 weeks ive turned many 8 people to vaping.
sometimes i vape someplace "because i can" even if i would not have lit up an analog there. i do find myself vaping in places i would not smoke, including my own house. i agree fully also with Cookiebun

sounds like we have the same problems.. so i will tell you how i fixed that.. I got tired of making several orders every month to get supplies and starter kits to all my friends that wanted to start vaping and get away from analogs. so what i decided to do was first decide on a hardware model, and a juice supplier, luckily i found both topics from one vendor. then i got the cash together and placed an order large enough to get a wholesale discount... now i carry a duffle bag full of ecig gear anytime i go out.. and for my closer friends, ieven do home delivery if they kick me some gas money.. no more making 10-15 orders a month and having to go to the office of my apt complex ever other day to get my package.. and i make a little money on the side out of the deal as well.. I dont wanna give the company infgo out though as i am new and dont want to get hit with a banstick for trying to be a "non-registered supplier" but if you look around, there are lots of companies selling hardware and juices that will give you a nice discount on certain sized orders.

Just be courteous. So far, I have asked bartenders/ shopkeepers if they mind if I use my digital cigarette before I start. The cool ones laugh and remind me that they're legal, but warn me that I'll get funny stares from the uninitiated. The rest just ask, " your what?". Which gives me an opportunity to educate them before they are misinformed by an idiot or a rude vaper (None of my fellow ECF'ers I hope). I didn't foresee how condescending analog smokers would be. Most have assumed it was some gimmick and I was a stupid shmuck. Suckers!
my personal opinion on the condescending attitude from analog smokers has a lot to do with jealousy that we have found a way to get away from killing ourselves with tobacco... i have found that even the worst of the worst will warm to you enough to be bearable if you let them try yours (i carry a couple flavors for mine that are just for sharing so i dont have to use my personal stuff after its been in a strangers mouth) once they see how nifty it is and that they might actually like it.. very few of them will continue to give you a hard time about anything other than helping them make the switch.

Some of you have mentioned that you now vape inside your home. I haven't begun vaping yet seeing as I'm waiting for my first order but I too plan to begin vaping inside my house. My question is, how do you guys feel about vaping with animals/pets present? Obviously blowing the vape at them is probably a bad idea but considering the amount of nicotine that can be distributed through an ecig is greater than that of a cigarette, are you still wary about them while they're around?

from my experience, i have 4 10+ year old cats... i smoked in the house and i was a very heavy smoker.. two of my kitties would cough from time to time (i know bad owner.. their occasional coughing was pushing me to the point of quitting as it was, even before the heath scare that was the final straw)

i vape in the house, and i vape a LOT.. i go through 5-6oz of juice a month.. and my cats havent coughed a single time in at least 9 months now thank god.. my roomie doesnt smell anything, i even vape in the exam rooms at my dr appts and none of my 4 docs have ever said a thing about smelling anything.. and one of them has actually done a decent bit of research and told me he came to the conclusion that it might not be totally safe for the actual user depending on flavorings, but the risk from second hand exposure was most likely even less than the risk of damage from exposure to all the common stuff around the house to clean with or car emmisions while sitting in traffic.

I too used to smoke around my pets. I stopped about six years ago and have been an outdoor only smoker since then. Even being an overly cautious person, I can tell you there is absolutely no risk as far as the vapor is concerned for pets (provided they are not inhaling the vapor directly by blowing it at them). The liquid, however, means death to a cat or dog. Keep it securely locked away, they can get into the most surprising places if an odor attracts them. I would make sure I had fresh carbon in my fish tank all the time, but again, I am overly cautious and don't currently have a tank anyway.

I am at Disney World 1st day very cautious around resort and the Kingdom....A lot of stealth in the bathrooms..Wife wondering if I was ok..2nd day vaping in the haunted mansion, Dark areas and attractions, Epcot fireworks. 3 rd day feeling more comfortable about knowing how to vape in public w\out drawing attention.Note to self do some DIY for less vapor when out in public= less vapor, however if you can keep your draw in long enough the vapor is minimum....I will try to update another 5 days to get comfortable at WDW.....

Perhaps my favorite public experience involving a PV was about a year ago, when I was enjoying my newly purchased, first ecigarette (one of those outrageously/hilariously low quality 7-11 PVs) in my college's library. A girl walking past started making a scene, coughing and waving her hand in front of her face, yelling for a librarian to take me out for smoking indoors, complaining about the smell, etc. The look on her face was priceless when I stuck my supposedly lit cigarette behind my ear and asked her what in the world she was talking about.

So today..well in an half an hour will be my first day off of tabacco..and first day of vaping...well I got yelled at today when I pulled into a parking lot...while smoking my METAL e cig(does not even look like a cig)....My two year old was in the back seat...I never smoked in my car if my kids were in there...I was told there was no second hand smoke or toxics in the vapor so i did it in the car when I had a huge craving...I explained that it was harmless to this said person..and they just walked away saying something about my mothering skills..lol.
