I vape wherever I want to. Restaurants and pubs are ok with PVs, and people smoke cigarettes in the street. I will not be classified as a smoker, and be treated like a smoker, that died along with my analog addiction. I have not once been asked to stop, the only time people approach me is to ask questions about my product, and often leave with the intent of buying a PV of their own. I don't go to cinemas, why do I need to pay a ridiculous amount of money to listen to people crunching on popcorn and rustling crisp packets for 2 hours? If I eat out (which is seldom, eating out with a 1 year old baby is a nightmare to say the least) I don't sit and chain vape, we eat and get out of there as soon as we can. The only limit I have is I don't vape in the same room as the baby, but that's just common sense no? I'm tired of people whining and saying they feel this and they feel that because they HAVE to vape in a smoker's section, or they HAVE to vape outside in polar temperatures. If it's such a pain in the backside then stick a patch on your arm and deal with it. I started vaping so that I didn't carry my child around with clothes that are saturated in the glorious chemicals that come off of a cigarette. But some of the people here carry on like they are oppressed and picked upon because they vape, what the hell? Stop the whinging and deal with it. If I'm vaping in a pub over a pint and someone comes and tells me that I'm bothering them I'll move across the pub from that person and continue my flavour experience. People are too quick to moan about things that they have no idea about. ''Your vape is giving me cancer'' Then move to a cabin in the woods and stay out of the damn city, or better yet, buy a personal oxygen hood and stop your whinging. How many of you check your labels on the food that you eat? You think a bit of second hand vapour is going to take 10 years off of your life but sit down and eat a meal full of GMOs and steroids? Wake the hell up.

edit: Rant over :vapor:

I agree that there is no reason to make something illegal just because someone doesn't like it. But should we do something just because it is not prohibited? If something I do bothers someone else, I usually take a good hard look at what I'm doing and why. In case of vaping I came to the conclusion that it's better to do it in a way that's OK with everyone.
Good philosophy. Can't argue with that.

I'm just not willing to tailor my behavior based on not offending someone. If it's not doing anyone any harm, they need to .... and leave me alone. The easily offended make me uncomfortable - I'm willing to call it a draw with them.

If there weren't so many cry babies in this world ,this wouldn't be such a big discussion
Let me clarify, The cry babies I'm talking about are the ones that Got cigarette smoking banned in parking garages, In Parking lots, In your own car in a parking lot, No smoking signs in the middle of a park in the great outdoors. Are they going to ban vaping in these areas also??
So many people today crying about every little thing that they think Offends them.
I vap wherever I feel like,Unless someone opposes it, Then they can leave My Space or I will leave their space But some places it should be done discreetly.
Talking about cry babies being offended by anything : A man was offended by another man at a movie theater Texting his babysitter during The previews.
The man that was texting did not attack the other man or touch him, The offended man, a retired police officer pulled his weapon and shot the guy dead Right there in front of his wife.
Another case of someone making a big deal out of nothing
If there weren't so many cry babies in this world we wouldn't be worrying about where we could vap or if it was going to be banned

I agree with you here. I just want to vape without being hassled. I don't want to get shot for texting my babysitter either for that matter. The more people whine the more of an issue it becomes, but I have noticed that people love having something to moan about, like me moaning about people moaning. Everyone is just so concerned about what everyone else is doing.

Hi, me again.
I flew MIA-LA quite a few times.
I don't know now, but then, it took 7+ hrs.
Did I violated federal law at the end?? What'ya think?.
At the beggining, the smoke courtains
were part of the fun. The coughs were a sideshow.
And my point is? Not everybody can stand 7 hrs awake without puffing.
Me included. My deeepest respect goes to those who can.

Baditude said it best. It's all about using your best judgement

Yes, I would agree with that. Although I am about fed up to the teeth with the Smoke Nazis and their unbending attitudes; ever notice how many of them are just DOUSED in perfume?? That stuff is much nastier than just about any smoke I ever smelled (except maybe cigars ;) ), but no one tells them "you can't reek in public." I think they wear all that perfume so they don't have to bathe!

But, given my sensitivities to perfume and many other aerosols (hairspray especially, some women just go NUTS with it, in public restrooms!), then I can understand if someone is allergic to PG -- although that must be rough for them, it being in so many foods. When someone just doused in perfume walks by my table in a restaurant, I can't keep eating, it takes my appetite away completely. And even though I'm a smoker, I confess I find it a relief not to encounter tobacco smoke in restaurants anymore.

I think what makes me most angry is when I'm standing outside smoking, either freezing or roasting, but observing the smokers' etiquette of not inflicting it on others, and someone either walks or drives by and gives me a look like I'm a mass murderer that ought to be shot on the spot. I even once told a blue-hair "it's just a cigarette, lady, not hard drugs!--and I'm outdoors, so give me a break!" She stuck her nose up in the air like the self-righteous prig she was, but at least she didn't bother me anymore.

It also makes me very angry to read all this tripe about e-cigs by the same Smoke Nazis, which amounts to the effect of an image I found on some Vapor Facebook page -- "I'm not a diabetic, but since I don't use insulin, no one else should either." It's just so self-righteous, so holier-than-thou. People like that ruin things for everyone.

Let's hear it for Stealth... ;)

I heard a stand-up comedian say once "This women came up to me while I was standing outside smoking, telling me it will kill me. I replied: Let's make a deal. For every cigarette I smoke, you stick your nose in someone else's business. Let's see who lives longer"

I totally agree with you. Back when I was still smoking I observed all the rules and stayed out of peoples way and still got schooled by many people.

It will never be OK with everyone. There are those who think you shouldn't be allowed use nicotine recreationally (or do anything that looks like smoking) anywhere, even in your own home, much less where some impressionable young mind might actually see you do so, or worse, be exposed to even the slightest whiff of that poisonous fog you're emitting.

So where do you draw the line at which to tell them to bugger off?

Am I correct reading that you will move to a different part of the room though when asked? If so it lifts you many levels above people I have witnessed first hand (example from the bus earlier in this thread). I understand your point. I on the other hand don't wait to get asked. I try to avoid this confrontation. I have to say though, I might not be the first person whipping out my micro-coil genny, but when I see people vape in a bar and noone complains I most often will do it too.

I definitely don't let anyone tell me what to do in my house, car or anywhere on my property. When in public outside, I do it away from people. If someone asks me to stop, I move away, stop or explain if the person seems open to it. I don't however restrict myself to smoking areas. Like others have said before, I'm not a smoker. I never vape in public buildings, or any gathering of people, friends or strangers, without permission. That's I guess where my behavior differs from many others. I ask permission first and stop when asked. It seems lot's of you do it without asking first and then react when confronted. I guess my only hard line is my personal property.

Edit: I agree that it will never be OK with everyone. What I meant is, I try to do it in a way so it won't bother anyone before they have to tell me that it bothers them.

:D Good one!

My dad died of lung cancer, from smoking Luckies since he was like 10 or 11, but he was completely unapologetic; back before smoking was banned *everywhere* but folks were starting to wake up to the dangers of 2nd hand smoke, he walked into a "quickie-mart" with a cigarette, and this busybody woman was like, "don't you know how dangerous that is to other people?" He looks her up and down, blows out a plume of smoke, and says "lady, if I don't care if I'm killing myself with it, what makes you think I give a rat's ... what it does to you?"

A total card, that was my dad. :D

So if the "authorities" (be they federal, state, local, or whatever) decided that hence forth vaping is illegal everywhere except on your own property, you'd accept that and only vape there?

Hell no. I'm a great fan of STEALTH! In a closed bathroom (the "one-hole" variety, no stalls), no one is ever going to know you used an e-cig in there -- bathrooms are the place for stinks, right? ;)

ROFL... I can see why he would think that, it looks like something out of "High Times." ;)

My cat Tuxie is maybe 15 lbs, and scared to *death* of every human in the world except me and my husband, but she is FIERCE to the wildlife... mice, rats, chipmunks, birds, lizards, snakes, frogs, grasshoppers, crickets.... Man she is Vermin Control on 4 feet. But her *favorite* is cicadas (we live in GA where they're a constant chorus from July-Oct)... we call them her Buzzy Toys... she keeps smacking away at them until they're not buzzing anymore, then she looks up like, "Make it go again, mommy."

Ok, off-topic. Bad me. But I love the kitties. :)

This may be the right place to ask a question, or spout a rant that's been on my mind for a long time. So, in most places now, smoking is completely banned; it's the law -- that's the government. Yet they keep raising taxes and raising taxes and raising taxes on cigs so that now, the absolute cheapest I can find my premium cigarettes (VA Slims) is 5.51/pk -- and we all know, of course, the financial straits our hapless gov't finds itself in -- so which is it? Do they NOT want anyone to smoke, or do they want EVERYONE to smoke so they can keep making beaucoup bucks off it?

Now of course, this schizophrenic behavior is further amplified by the ninnies telling everyone that e-cigs are "more dangerous that real tobacco," which any SANE person would realize is COMPLETE AND UTTER BS!

So... to judge from the bans, they don't want anyone to smoke anywhere. But, to judge from the taxes on cigs and given the govt's complete inability to balance the budget, they must want EVERYONE to smoke -- so they tell everyone that something which is CLEARLY less toxic than cigarettes is actually more toxic!

Am I am the only one going HUH?!?!?! I think EVERYONE in Washington DC is completely brain-dead!

Hmm

Yep, and if ANY lawmaker had a single functional brain cell in his/her head, they would realize that a really good way to a) get people off smokes, b) get people off booze (now THERE's a dangerous drug for you!), while c) making buttloads of money, is to legalize pot in the same way that booze and smokes are legal -- TAX IT! They could easily make enough money IN ONE YEAR to go after every drug lord in South America!

But they're all much too busy having girl-fights with each other about healthcare, holding Big Tobacco's and Big Pharma's poor, pitiful little hands by telling lies about vaping, and holding out their other hand for all the other Big Corporate money, while basically flipping off their constituents. Yeah, they're a busy bunch -- corruption must be hard work!

More than a little peeved at my so-called government (can't you tell? ;) )
