It's a big outlay up front - worse for me since I'm pretty much paying the way for 90% of two people's vaping - wife bought her own cigs plus a pack or two a week "for the house," I mostly only smoked at home so I bought a bunch of "house" packs and now whenever I buy new e-cig goodies I have to buy the same for her (though she recently covered a big fasttech order of 4 batteries/a dozen Evods for us to share)...not counting the dollars so much as the heaters I don't touch at the moment, but since I'm about one big juice order away from being set for a few months I think I'll be approaching break-even sooner than later as long as the big money stuff like batteries doesn't fail.

At the start, think about saving your life more than saving your cash. If you can get off the cigs by any means that works for you, worry about the cash later. My two cents... :2c:

Local B&Ms are my biggest downfall. I walk in and I almost feel compelled to walk out with something. So I have been avoiding them as much as possible here lately. Unfortunately, I will need to go soon ... I am out of my favorite juice ... don't know how to make it ... and haven't been able to find a replacement online ... oh my aching wallet

i have saved about $300
i have plenty of juice, lots of attys, wick wire, 3 mods, 2 more on the way, some egos... mind you this is between me and my man
you get the picture...
the best way to think of it, is how many mods do you REALLY need??
your main, a backup and a backup#2
then like 3 different ways to hold your juice and 3 spares for each type
then 3 drip tips
atleast 1 rba and supplies
then for juice um a dozen different flavors? different strengths...
so keeping those "guidelines" in your head might make you want to spend less...

I think if I had just stayed with my 3.7v Egos (and Smoov Rev/Ego-t clone) and basic tanks and such, I would easily be breaking even already, at just under three weeks. I'm treating this as both a permanent nicotine delivery system solution AND a hobby, though, so I'm still hunting down and tuning in my perfect setup.

I'm very, VERY happy with the dual battery Bolt and Artemis tank system I'm using now, though, so I think most of my future expenditure will be on a few more artemis tanks, cartomizers (both for the Artemis and just the plain old Boge ones), a few dripper atomizers for testing out new juice and blends, general bits and pieces, and juice. Sounds like a lot of stuff but most of it is cheap as chips, especially as I plan on moving away from disposables and toward rebuildables.

Ive saved a TON of money vaping but thats not why I started in the first place. My intention was to quit smoking and so far Ive been successful for going on 9 months. Saving money was an added bonus.

I think some people confuse being cheap with saving money and those arent the same thing. Sometimes you have to lay out a little extra money initially for quality and that ends up costing less in the long run.

Just my take on it. If you look at my signature Ive saved over 1900 dollars in 8 months after an initial investment of 400 dollars for my Provari, Phiniac tanks, Smoktech cartos and juices.

I'm in Va where analogs are $4-$5 a pack. Some of the cheapest analog prices in the country. Even still I've saved a ton of money. Vaping as a analog replacement is cheaper for sure. Vaping as a hobby can be a different story. Although its a story you write. Either way if your spending more on vaping than analogs it's your fault. There are lots of ways to vape cheaper than smoking. I don't rebuild or DIY and I'm still saving money. $80 in my Blu phase, $100 in my ego phase and $200 for my V3 flat top, fluid flask and some carto tanks. The rest is maintence, about $50 a month. I was spending $130 a month on analogs.

I am the same with the local b&m. They were the ones that get me set up in the first place and they are local so I feel guilty that I get most of my stuff online now. But they are so damn expensive! $8/10ml juice!

When I smoked I spent 50 -60 a weeks on cigs. 1-1.5PAD at 6.50 per. so 200-240 per month. AS for vaping, I'm still a noob ( 6 weeks and counting ) In the past week or so I've spent about $150 alone. Upgraded from eGo C to a twist and looking at the Vamo, a bunch of tanks and a .... ton of juice as I am still looking for the perfect flavor.

I agree with every one else. the upfront cost is a bit more but over time will save money. in 2 years of off and on vaping (full time vaping
and no cigs in the last 2 weeks) I have spent $300 in hardware and maybe another $150 in juice.
This last purchase ( tesla vv kit $90) I payed for it by doing online surveys. have a separate bank account for survey money, so if I dont have the money there I dont get any thing.

I love calling my addiction to vaping and vape gear a hobby. Wasn't really a hobby smoker, though. This is a whole new world. Thanks to my proclivities and being on the forum too much, I have averaged about $400 per month on vaping and vape gear, and I don't see that slowing down over the summer, maybe next year. My wish list always has several hundred dollars worth of necessary gear on it, necessary because you guys all have it, and I just want to be a part of the community...or, maybe I just have an "addictive personality." But, let's just call that my hobby...sounds far better and the wife can't win that argument, at least not yet...my days are numbered.

I'm up for a Semovar now. Explained the details and importance to the wife the other day. She asked me if that's the last APV/mod I'll ever need. Of course not, honey, new and better gear comes out everyday, and trying to have the best vaping experience possible, and here's the kicker, and stay off the analogs is important, for Pete's sake. Pete is not our son's name. I could save money, I DIY, I just don't want to. Ok, I have a spending addiction now, but it's not breaking the bank, I'm not really at deficit spending anymore, I may have saved a few hundred already....that's why I need the Semovar, right?

Sure I had illusions of saving money, at first, but that was before I discovered ECF and about 25 US vape shops, plus Fasttech, that I have a responsibility to help support, as a responsible vaping community member. What kind of a person do you think I am? I love my new hobby. I've seen your pictures, so I know you do to. Saving money? Child's Play...I'm saving lives! Thanks for being here.

Vaping for 22 months, have spent $750 and have enuff gear/ batts, juice, etc to last me another year.
I never buy Version 1 or buy the "hype" as they're not only overpriced but usually have issues hence Version 2, 3, etc. Always wait for deep discount sales and one month after beginning to vape I began to DIY my juice.
I'm not an impulse buyer and prefer to research anything I'm thinking of buying....my wife that's a diff story BUT it's all good and in fact she's always pushing me to buy new gear :D

Yes , i feel the same way about SPENDING on new shineys , but in the long run it will really save you , I have 2 - Vamo v2's and MAMY different tank systems , cartos a couple home made box mods , 3 - 14500 batteries , 6 - 18350 batteries , 3 - 2 battery chargers ... Just got in an Oddy clone and set it up , used it once and went back to my ViVi Nova .
When will it stop ? Well , as long as Phil keeps making videos for YouTube and rating tank systems , if they are any good , i will probably try to buy one if i can afford it . Really wanna Nautilus clone or better yet an ORIGINAL and same with a Russian .
I really have a good supply of puched cartos for my other tanks , but will use those if my ViVi craps out on me before i can get a couple more as backups .
I have lots of wire , just ordered 4 feet of Silica to get me started on rewicking with that .
Oh , another thing too , i have at least 10 bottles of food flavoring from various stores to add to bad juice if i get any and i do get get bad juice sometimes . Not to mention the candy flavorings i pick up from a candy supply store locally . I can go on and on about purchases , but even if you have a good supply of items , there is always 1 more thing you forgot to pick up or well , you get the picture .

I'm not seeing why you "need" two lighters and at those prices too. Am I missing something? I haven't had to use a lighter for vaping - ever.

when i used to smoke, i'd spend maybe $60-$80/month on cigarettes.
i felt i was spending way too much money on cigarettes.

then i got into vaping, thought i'll actually save a LOT more money on cigs.
it turns out, just last and this month combined, i spent close to $600!

last week i went to vape shop, i walked out $50 lighter. today i walked into vape shop, i walked out $70 lighter.
yikes! i feel so guilty, as if i just spent my life savings on gambling. (not saying i have ever done so)
