Just wanted to add my 2c to the original topic:

First of all, my personal belief is that I don't particularly care what you do with your own body. Not just with vaping, but smoking, drinking, drugs, whatever, as long as it doesn't affect me or anyone other than yourself, knock yourself out. We're all adults, capable of making our own decisions.

That being said, I think a lot of the animosity toward the vapers who've never otherwise used nicotine is due to the current political climate. There's a strong perception that non-smoker vapers will only accelerate the widespread ban of electronic cigarettes, and that, if banned, will easily transition back to "normal."

In contrast, a lot of ex-smoker vapers (myself included) have tried most of the smoking cessation products on the market, and none have worked other than vaping. If banned, most of us would likely transition back into analogs. For the overzealous among us, non-smoker vapers serve as an easy target for a lot of our frustrations.

Some serious whizzing going on in here. seems rather silly.

It is not the What but the Who when talking addictions.

Some people get addicted to candy while others can't stand sweets.
We are not all wired the same and cannot assume others will have the same needs, wants, desires or addictions.

That is not Denial, or the Mississippi :D just fact.

How about a lifetime of nic addiction. Is that worse? Not saying that will happen but.

The bold italics above are mine.

So are you suggesting that anything that could cause addiction should be banned just in case someone gets addicted?

No one here has any incontrovertible proof that nic is not addictive in any form regardless how it is introduced into the body. You can blow all the hot air you want.

Nothing is not addictive for everyone. Blowing hot air and nail biting included :)

He was demanding you prove a negative. And then dismisses, out of hand, each and every study that provides evidence his assertions are wrong, refusing to even discuss them. Which is the typical ploy of the propagandist when he has no facts to back up his assertions. Denial, denial, denial. Critical thinkers see through all that, of course.

Thanks for responding but now I'm a bit confused. I thought you have been vaping with nic for a while already. The FDA approved patches and gum for over the counter sale BECAUSE they found it is not habit forming in never smokers. So, is the same true for never smokers who vape nic? It would be worth having an informed answer to that question. The answer would start with people who never smoked but are vaping nic. Are you one of those people?

I will be as soon as my nic delivery arrives. I'll make sure to report back in the coming weeks to see how I experience it.

Couldn't agree more on your view on things.

Your point about it being because of the current regulatory climate also makes a lot of sense.
I can definitely understand that with it being an essential cessation-tool for many of you, it would be catastrophic to see it banned.

But at the same time, I think that it's inevitable that more and more non-smokers will take it up as vaping becomes more mainstream.

It's undeniable that nicotine has a lot of benefits, while also being a quite nice, perfectly legal stimulant.
The downsides of tobacco smoke, are what's kept me, and I suspect plenty of other people, off of it for all this time.

But had there been an hypothetical insignificantly addictive cigarette with zero to few long term side effects, I would have already taken them up a very long time ago.

Vaping, it seems, is this hypothetical cigarette come true.

Living in a scandinavian country, where smoking is strongly on decline in favor of snus, and strongly stigmatized, I can also foresee that many snusers will be going over vaping, provided regulations around it don't get too stringent.

In fact I have already met several at my local vape shop, which had gone over to vaping from long-time snusing.

Perhaps not in your country, which is somewhat unique in terms of snus use and low smoking rates, but in most countries it would be far more acceptable for you to smoke than vape.

That is totally ridiculous.

But even more ridiculous is that the anti-vape politics that permeates our gov'ts and regulators permeates even this forum here and has attempted to control the convo even in this thread. Go figure that out.

I doubt that many here are worried about reverting back personally. Most of us have enough nic base in our freezers to last us a really long time. Personally, I've got over 15 years worth and I add to it on a regular basis. So a ban will not affect me any time soon. What we're worried about is that a ban would deny other smokers who've not yet switched the kind of opportunity we had.

Absolutely, I honestly can't fathom how there can be such stringent policies, such as nicotine ejuice being illegal to sell here (not to import though, due to a legal loophole), and the upcoming 2016 EU vaping directive, when you can freely buy cigarettes which are documented to easily kill you, within a few steps no matter the direction you walk in.

Speaking of which, if I end up enjoying nicotine, I should start stocking up on it very soon, as the upcoming 2016 EU directive will effectively ban e-cigs as they are now EU-wide.

Can a 72mg/ml nicotine VG solution be freezed as is? Won't it expand and break the bottle? How long is it viable/safe to store it for?

They get their tax money from cigarettes. They want it from eliquid now. That's hard to understand?

People have been asking that question for a long time. It might behoove you to get some in PG and some in all VG. Just in case one turns out to store long term better. No worries about expansion though. Outlook, IMO, is good for the long term. If I remember correctly, freezing it is best in a deep freezer or one that can reach colder temps.

Sure, but they could easily impose taxation without burying everything in red tape and stringent regulations which will effectively destroy e-cigs as they are now.

As of May 2016 in the EU/EEA:
  • E-cigs and refill containers must have a mechanism to ensure leak free refilling (not possible with current tech, banning all currently existing products)
  • Replaceable heads are likely to be banned. Under the new rules changing the head on your atomizer might be considered ‘tampering’.
  • Refill containers over 10ml – Banned
  • Maximum size of cartridges or tanks 2ml
  • Electronic cigarettes must provide a consistent dose of nicotine, so variable-voltage and variable-watt products will probably be banned
  • Maximum nicotine strength of e-liquid is 20mg
  • If a “competent authority” believes any product may present a health risk in any 3 EU countries (there are 28) they may be prohibited in all.
Bloody nanny state...
