So I'm off analogs for two and a half days now :vapor:. My dad is quitting with me ( I really need to teach him to fill his own carts) and he keeps saying that we should not just "move" to ecigs, but just use them for a couple weeks to quit. I dont think thats realistic, not for me anyway. I think I'm only gonna like vaping more and more, especially after my exotic flavors come in

I think I'll be vaping for at least a few months, I suppose I'll try to lower the nicotine content and reduce frequency.. however, I dont know when I'm gonna be at the point so that I could hang around smokers w/o a PV and not want to bum a cigarette

So I think that everyone on this forum is currently vaping, some signatures I saw show "I've been vaping for like 400 days"... What are your thoughts on vaping as a habit?

i didn't mean to quit smoking personally, i thought this would be a neat toy i could use where i couldn't smoke, so i ordered flavors that were non-tobacco - then forgot about smoking being almost obsessed w/ my new toy. long story short, when i tried a stink stick i could smell it, and when i tasted it bleagh. now i will smoke 1 if i can't vape and sometimes i just need that MAOI effect that the cigs have from their 4000 other chemicals. but it's as few and far between as possible.

I quit to Vape mainly becouse i have children and the mess of smoking a pipe. The Maintenance and tar that a pipe can produce can be a hassle at times. I smoked cigs for years and got to expensive so switched to black and mild’s still expensive so my last route was to smoke my pipe only, which is cheap (pipe tobacco is not in that same tax bracket as other tobacco, not sure why). The smell and tar get every ware when traveling or just going out with a pipe around. My finger was always brown/black from packing my pipe and I noticed my littlest children’s feet were black from playing on the back porch were I smoked my pipe due to ash and tar which disturbed me. Knowing that my children were absorbing nicotine due to my habit made me want to get a e-cig. Not for my well being. I love smoking/vaping but my children don’t need that.

So to answer your question, I quit to vape!! (For the sake of my children)

I have been vaping since July 15th and I do not see myself quiting it. I did quit analogs and I am quite content with that. Vaping is fun and I have not had any craving for analogs. Maybe I will eventually go to 0 nicotine, but for right now I am happy with the way things are. I smoked for 40 years so I cannot imagine not vaping for at least a few years!

I am vaping now - and enjoying it - but my main goal is to quit nicotine completely. But I am 60 and have been smoking since I was 12. I smoked through my pregnancy and throughout my son's life and then he became a smoker - and I feel a lot of guilt about that.

I had tried to use Nicrotte to quit many times - but I could not use the patches and the other methods taste so horrible that I could not bring myself to use them as instructed. Which is to use for at least 3 months and then cut down. That is what I plan to do with vaping -

The following is instructions for the Nicroette Inhaler:

"It is important that you use Nicorette Inhaler for long enough to help overcome your dependence on cigarettes. Normally this period will be at least 3 months. After that the dosage is gradually reduced. When you are using only 1 to 2 cartridges a day, then you should stop using Nicorette Inhaler. Use of the inhaler beyond 12 months is not recommended. Some ex-smokers may need longer treatment to avoid returning to smoking. "

Hi all!
Been reading all your reasons, and they're all good, but seriously, this is the answer to smokers actually being able to quit cigs. The patch & gum don't work cause the act of smoking is so powerful! You can quit the nicotine but still want to hold and inhale etc. It's one of my very few enjoyments in life and theres no way in hell I'd quit after decades, until I discovered the e cigs., and then only after my doctor urged me to look into them. I love vaping better! Never going back. Have four different devices & lots of flavors, all the stuff to mix my own, am loving it & having tons of fun, not to mention the health benefits! We're all among the lucky ones that have discovered this and may have saved our lives. Keep vaping everyone. Be happy and oh so grateful!!:vapor:

That's my problem, I can power through nicotine withdrawal if I absolutely had to. It's the act and ritual of the hand to mouth that I would be absolutely lost without. I used to smoke while I did pretty much everything I do in life and it's just a habit that I know I'm simply too weak to overcome and a stress that I simply don't need right now in my life.

My sister got me interested in vaping by buying a 401 kit & not liking the experience...when others had convinced her it was GREAT! So she brought it to me to figure out & after finding this place & reading for what seems to be weeks. I am getting closer to analog free... made it for about 3 days ...b-4 my only atty started acting up...hubby tried to "fix it" amazing how many parts there was to that little thing....I am waiting on my latest order...& missing the clovey goodness & gaging on analogs... ooooops babbling....

So in answer to your question.....my plan is to VAPE to QUIT !!
My hubby .....es @ me 24/7 RE: smoking & he thinks this vaping thing is stupid & expensive . But I really did not want a cig those 3 days & the last week or 2 I've just been using it when I could get it to work & now the last 48 hours (since he killed the atty), I really miss it !!!

So I think that vaping will really HELP me to quit . I am unsure how long I will continue to use nic ,but I do like the act of smoking, so I'm sure I will like most of the facets of vaping . I'm going to try the DIY route, I like the fiddlely mixing & measuring etc. I'm thinkin' I will be able to lower my nic levels easier by mixing my own juice ...
I think it should take a few months at the least to taper off the nic & then who knows ?

thanks by the way for the nicorette quote

....I'm just crossin' my fingers ... that this the answer to the "HOW to QUIT SMOKING question I have been struggling with for MANY YEARS.

*GOOD LUCK TO US ALL !!!

*a little Gambling forum lingo, seems appropriate here too.

I expected to die as a smoker,my switch to the E-Cig wasn't as smooth as some and i have moved from 36mg to 24mg.I dropped it to 18mg slowly and i lost my head. I didn't move to vaping to quit,i moved to vaping to stop my Family being affected.

So i am now happy to Vape for good.400+ days and counting.

Shh don't tell anyone but i sold my wife on E-Cigs by telling her we would be able to quit it all but i knew and know that i just wanna vape... I don't wanna quit at all and while she was complaining how we needed to quit smoking every other week or so i'm the one analog free for 14 days now and she keeps bumming a smoke here and there at work and it was her idea to quit. Oh well i'm loving the vape and will love it even more when i have enough juice and atty's stocked up so i can start spending my vaping allowance on mods!

Vape on!

Simply put. Both. Vape to quit and quit to vape.
I suppose a persons opinion on vaping as a replacement habit instead of an eventual quite smoking aid depends on an individuals personal goals.
Serious props to those who use it or anything for that matter to quit a habit all together but Im someone who would not have chosen to quit or even cut down with out a replacement. It may be harder to quit vaping once you get all the yummy flavors, maybe stick with some nasty juice for insentive. Its the "lessbad" theory on habitual use. I think Id throw myself in traffic if I couldnt perform the hand to mouth action for all my days. 2 months seems unrealistic, but can always play it by ear, let your bodies adjust to how it delivers the nic, find you mg then slowely reduce nic. It seems to me that if you set a "must quit" date it may lend itself to feeling of failure and anxiety for many complicating the goal but if the strict midset is a motivator for you than go for it.

I could probably quit the nicotine without too much hassle, but my problem is the smoking habit it's self. The motion of the hand, the sucking and inhaling and having that feel of full lungs. Do I plan on eventually stopping vaping? Nope. Probably will die someday a way long way down the road with one in my hand or pocket. I like the habit. Everyone has a habit, this is mine whether it has nic in it or not doesn't reallly effect me. Now what I really would like to drop is all this soda! Stuff rots my teeth >_> That will be a feat in it's own self if I can manage to drop the caffeine.

If I could kill this addiction to citrus pop I would be in even better shape lol :D But like you say, I doubt I will quit, whether or not there is nicotine I couldn't tell you at this point, but I know that this has worked where everything else failed miserably.
