I quit smoking the day I started vaping. The first 2 weeks was a bit hard but I was determined to do it. The hardest part is reprogramming your brain because for years we had it believing it need to smoke. I've dropped my nic to half what I started with but I don't have intentions of ever quitting vaping...if it happens then it does. I only wanted a safe way to get nicotine and this fit the bill.

There are entire forums here dedicated to tobacco harm reduction that the FDA and AHA don't want you to read. The only thing about tobacco and nicotine that is harmful is the ignition of the tobacco plant...burning and inhaling smoke...check out the studies from Sweden about snus and cancer rates...very eye opening:)

I quit the day I got my PVs but I had a weeks worth of chantix left when I started vaping so I kept taking it I think it made the transitions easier for me, I smoked the whole 2 months I was on it granted I had cut down to 4-12 cigarettes a day from a 2 PAD habit but I was still smoking, in fact it was chantix that made me look at e-cigs again it was time to refill that $140 script and I was thinking this crap isn't working there has got to be something else

I quit smoking the first day I got the PV. Had 4 analogs left in the pack and couldn't bring myself to throw them away, so finished them that day. That was 6Mar11 and haven't had an urge for a cigarette since. Went from 24mg to 12mg in about 3 months, then tried 6mg and that was too low. Would take 12mg to work, casino and golf course. The 6mg was fine for home, but after awhile I forgot which was which and found I just played a round of golf with 6mg and was fine. My body was getting used to less nicotine, but part of the urge must have been mental.

I've been on 6mg juice for about 3 months and decided to try using 12mg to see if I could vape less often. Found I was vaping about the same, but the 12mg was making me sick. Nice experiment for me. The wife and I went to dinner the other night and talked for quite awhile after we ate. I didn't notice the difference, however the wife did. We've been married 39 years and I've always been in a hurry to leave so I could have a smoke. I didn't even notice it. Had the PV in the car and still waited until we got home. That was pretty cool.

Please sign the petition if you haven't. Only have until the 27th of this month to get 5,000 signatures and last I looked we still need over 500. We are asking the White House to consider e-cigs as an "effective alternative" to smoking and the White House will give us an official reply if we can muster 5,000 signatures. Please help our cause.

Thank you in advance............. Hig

Yes I have seen a couple of people in Classifieds selling off all of their vaping stuff because they felt they no longer needed to vape.

But I think most vapers totally quit smoking early or immediately, and then continue to vape.

BTW If you are continuing to smoke - there are chemicals in cigs that make them more addictive than nicotine.

This was me, a year ago. I quit smoking the day I received my kit in the mail, and then quit vaping about two months later and sold all of my stuff. I did fine for about 10 months and then started craving...not so much cigarettes, but the act of inhaling smoke or vapor, so I purchased some new PV's and I'm back at it. I'm currently vaping 6mg or zero liquids. Some people ask me why I would want to reintroduce nicotine into my system after being off of it for so long, and I point them to the positive effects of nicotine. It really does calm me, and to be honest, I don't think it's as addictive as everyone says. I believe that most of the addiction from cigarettes comes from the chemicals (as you noted, dormouse) and just the act of smoking itself (hand/mouth fixation, inhaling, etc). But that's just my opinion.

I agree !!

To answer OP - I quit all "Smoking" about a week and a half into vaping ( about a yr ago now) and vape low nic. or zero nic . I just really like the ritual of it all , the drag the exhale etc.. so vaping has worked really well for me. I had been an extremely heavy cig smoker (over 2 packs a day for
+ years)

I did the same, also...started vaping a year and a half ago...then went to 0mg nic a few months later.

Then, went up to 6mg, then 12mg...thinking that I would benefit from the nicotine.

Come to find out, the nicotine actually didn't help me...so now, I'm back at 0mg nic.

It made the degeneration of my cervical discs quicker (I was due for another cervical fusion in another 2-3 yrs)...though, I cannot attribute the nicotine with proof...just my hunch.

I started vaping to completely QUIT smoking and completely stop consuming nicotine.
At this point I have reduced analogs from 20 to 6 per day.

For some reason, when I just think about this one being my last real cigarette, my mind/body go nuts. I start feeling physical discomfort and need lots of nicotine. In fact I'm fulling myself with excuses like "don't feel like going outside - that's why better to vape" etc.

Anyway, sooner or later I will completely switch to ecigs. Than, I'm planning to reduce nicotine to 0 and than, hopefully, completely quit vaping.

It may be complicated, because vaping itself seems to be attractive.

Has anyone quit smoking and viping?

Haven't had an analog in 16 days and the eventual plan is to quit both analogs AND vaping but I'm happy with where I'm at right now.
