On topic: I can confirm that the first version has a wiring issue...the black one I posted on earlier. It indeed only uses one battery, the hot feed from the second tube is not connected correctly. I thought I had addressed this with adjusting the post set screws, but with further testing, no. I have been emailing the seller and even sent a video to the manufacture.

This issue is resolved in the second release of this unit (with the updated chip). The silver one I posted uses both together and charges pretty fast (I think it is 700ma).
Is there an identifier that denotes 1st or 2nd generation ?

Kangxin made, with brass fittings. Notice the battery adjustment screws inside the tubes

Finish is great, no flaws that I can see. Panels all fit flush. That white stuff around the top section is just paper towel debris.

@navychief52 so if I understand correctly if u try each battery tube separately(one battery at a time),one of them doesn't power up the flask?

It was BlueridgeDog, not I, that made the comment. I don't have either right now and can't comment.

Looking good Croak, do let us know how the chip is with temp control

Temp control working in a Marquis RDA in single coil mode, with a home-rolled Subtank OCC Ni200 head (sorta), and in a Kayfun V4 clone single coil, all with twisted 30ga.

Only thing I don't like is the 510 connector. It's hella fiddly. Screw came clean out when removing my Subtank, had to spend five minutes on the carpet trying to find the darn thing, and it requires adjustment just about every atty change (Subtank, Marquis, Kayfun, Atlantis, Rogue). My Varitube is going in sooner rather than later.

Fires right from sleep, and only takes a moment from deep sleep (to confirm same coil). Fire button is good, up and down buttons are good, though the up button might be a little sticky, nothing major, just requires center pressure since it's rounded, they're basically Hana-style BB buttons, which are not my favorite.

Just took the batteries out and both have the same level of charge,so it appears I'm using both.

Absolutely love the finish on this thing, it's a very smooth anodizing with just enough texture to provide grip, but not enough to feel like it's powder coated, and in black it's not a fingerprint magnet.

got my flask today.

1. finish is great, don't have any remarks here. VTC4 batteries going in without problems
2. kx40 chip, well, a lot to say infact. I have original evolv DNA40 at home, so direct comparison
- kx40 - there is ~1 sec delay when firing, no matter if it is in stand by mode or not
- there is small delay when releasing fire button as well
- it looks like TC is not working properly but I need to test it more. For now I prefer DNA40 TC function
- 510 is pain in the .... But I don't like 510 connectors like this. I prefer Varitube/Fatdaddy spring loaded 510

Overall? I like it, but I will put in evolv DNA40 in it. For me it is much better choice, as for nothing else because of that annoying delay

Oh yeah, one more thing. On evolv DNA40 you can adjust wattage while you are firing, on KX40 that is not possible. And for me that is one more + on evolv side

and one more. KX40 goes faster when you hold up/down button for adjustment. I wish that dna40 was that fast

I can confirm it's only taking 0.5a from the USB connection. Which is the same as the real VF, so about 10 hours to fully charge a set of depleted 2500mAh batteries.

Removed the batteries when it was showing half charge, both have the same voltage, so it's using both. But I already knew that, I was able to get it to power on with a single battery in either tube.

And did I mention I hate the 510?

Try about 6 or 7 wraps Chief, that should put you around 0.15 ohms. Try wattage between 15 to 20 watts, temp set to 420 or so (if using cotton), should flash TC message pretty quick if you're not drawing on it, and hold pretty steady around 390-410 with airflow.

Your basic problem is too much coil mass for that wattage setting.

When building coils for these things, try to shoot for above 0.1 and below 0.2 for best results.

Nice, Mine just arrvied in San Fran, so hopefully I'll get mine soon and be able to test it out! can't wait...

Now how hard is it to do a 510 swap and put in something like a Varitube...I actually don't know much about connectors and swapping it out, so don't know which is good lol
