Wow man, I hadn't seen the actual mod before before just now, only heard of it. That thing is so damn ugly that I think I'll wait for something else using the same chip, or buy a chip and swap out the board in one of my other mods.

I'd only want it for giggles anyway. What's the point of a 100 watts in a temp control device? Maybe you could simulate a more aggressive preheat? I don't know man. 40 watts on all my DNA40 devices is already too much. I can't build a coil that will vape at 40 watts for more than a few seconds without hitting TP.

The only use for it I can see is if you're still using both Kanthal and TP builds. I like my .18 to .20 Kanthal coils, but they do need more than 40 watts, for me, to be worthwhile.

With 100 watts to play with, you could successfully use 26, 25 or even 22 gauge Ni2000, provided you had the deck space to work with. You could start to take advantage of all the coil artistry that's been applied to Kanthal by the cloud and flavor chasers, builds that require a lot of power to overcome the coil mass they're working with.

More power means more options, doesn't mean you have to use the extra power. But somebody will. Imagine a world where the Protank or even Kayfun "it's gotta be a cool vape" and "I only restrictive mouth to lung hit" crowd dictated the market. We'd all still be sporting 10-15w mods, attys with pathetic airflow, and using nasty nasty high PG juices.

In other words, imagine a world in which Phil Busardo and Dimitri's preferred vaping style is all that was out there. Scary. I'd be at the 7/11 buying a carton of Camels tomorrow.

Just note it is only 100 watt for kanthal.

When using nickel for temp protection it goes up to 50 joules, for all intents and purposes is just yihi's way of designating wattage/power when using temp protection.

I guess I can see why they do that, more power means more heat which means more resistance which could mean an unworkably large table of resistances to reference, either due to memory footprint or lack of processing power. Not to mention your margin of error shrinks as power increases the heat flux and speed of that flux on the coil.

has anyone tried the subtank mini on the Waidea flask? Does it sit flush? or even fit at all? Any pictures would be amazing, thanks.

Or I can also ask, does everyone find that their sub ohm tanks fit flush with their Waidea clones? Person a fixed pin makes me cringe, if the tanks don't sit flush.

The subtank mini, the arctic, and the atlantis do not sit flush on the Waidea. However, for all 3 on my device, you can barely get a piece of 28g wire in the gap. So, it's close enough for government work.

Nicole's review of the Waidea flask is live:

Waidea Vaporflask DNA40 Clone Review | Vaping Cheap

...However, with both the Waidea 1:1 Vaporflask and Kangxin Vaporflask V3 retailing at the same price point, I think the decision between which Vaporflask clone to get is a no brainer … unless you must have a red or blue Vaporflask that is.

Nicole took some good pictures of how flush toppers fit on the Waidea for her review:

One last quick question... Do you think that anytime SOON a month or so they will come up with the Waidea version but with an adjustable or spring loaded 510?

Or should I buy it now?

Hard to say. It's selling well without a re-design, and 3FVape has stated that neither Waidea or Kangxin had any interest in other revisions. And Nicole's chat with the head of Waidea seems to make it clear that they've tried a floating pin and didn't like the results.

I had to remind 3f that they seemed to have forgotten about my Flask, or maybe they read this thread, anyway they want me to ship it back to them. Not really an option at this point, not much of an option anytime. So I got one coming from focal us (April 10 is my birthday so)

My Birthday is on the 11th - mine is my birthday present to myself, that's this particular mods excuse anyway...

My kangxin is still going well but I'm starting to regret not taking up the chance to change to the waidea when I had it. Oh well! SX mini M-class pre-ordered so hopefully that will ease the pain lol!
Sure, who wouldn't want "the best" as far as fit and finish, but I think the most important thing is having a device that WORKS! lol

Absolutely. I am really trying to be extra careful with the Kangxin, particularly the buttons! Lol! Hopefully I can be a little less .... with the sx!

Now, hands up who among us had "to save money" as one of the reasons we started vaping? :)

I haven't even got my Waidea yet and I'm fighting off the urge to order the IPV4 as well, because it's "only" £60. I've only been vaping 7 weeks and I seriously daren't add up all the purchases I've made already..
