OK, thanks. What I was thinking with the single coil was something like this, going between the posts -

Which wouldn't be possible with most dual-coil RTAs these days, which are either four post (Foggers, Billow, Orchids, Goblin, etc) or else have no usable gap between the posts (Aqua v2). It'd have to be rather skinny, but I figured maybe a 2mm coil might work with some care? And if it could be made to work with the posts, there'd be no further problems with the chimney.

What was the problem with the single coil in the Fogger? Massive leaking?

Yet another reason I love the Aqua v2 - single coil is easily achieved as the air holes are threaded and can be closed off for single coil mode. Not that I've done many single coils on it, I dislike giving up half the deck. But it's possible. It really is an amazing design, which is both great, and a bit sad - in the sense that it seems to stand fairly alone as being great, with so many other companies still just pumping out what are mostly just the same old tired designs with no more than small tweaks and nothing really new. Another reason I was excited about the Goliath, as it did seem to make some advances. Albeit still evolution not revolution, and with seemingly quite a big drawback as a result.

If there was any indication that the v2 might be coming I might be given pause, but it seems that their first step is to ramp the "Limited Edition" Goliath into full production, so I'm thinking a v2 is months away at least. Unless you've heard something different? They were quite quick to update the Goblin with the 1.1 and 1.2 versions, so it's certainly possible they'll make further tweaks fairly soon.

To be honest it seems pretty likely I'm just going to get it anyway :) But I may well wait a little to see if I can at least get it for less than $50! And if I can resist the spending urge long enough, that probably means I'll get the FT clone for $17 (and cross my fingers that it's a pretty good one.)

Yeah. That is how I did the single coil on the fogger too. Actually its still in there:

It worked well and all, no leaking, I used a ton of wicking to prevent that, but next time I rebuild it I'm just going to do dual coils. I am kind of over making a RTA do something it shouldn't, making a dual coil RTA single coil, trying to make a kayfun4 a lung hitter, etc.

Regarding Goliath, I have no idea when a v2 is coming out. I agree, it probably will be months away yet, gotta let them v1s sell, and give us time to get bored and then drop new shiny same thing on us. So if you want one now go for it, just be warned of the tiny deck (smaller than Goblin), and poor fitting chimney (o-rings and possibly threads exposed when fully tightened). The airflow on the deck, and air intake are also slightly reduced compared to the goblin.

All that said, I really like mine, I like the two post deck, albeit small, the airflow is still really nice, and its held up well thus far. I've dropped it off the table, and off a pickup truck tailgate onto pavement and it survived both (though the heatsink fins did get bent on the pavement drop). Juice control, meh, never use it, just leave it open, but I use 80vg+, I guess it could be handy. Some say it drinks juice, but I don't find it any worse than any of my other dual coil high airflow RTAs.

My TGT II's with their slotted air intakes give them Lemo's some serious competition, in fact I like them much better and it's still a Taifun (clone)

The TGT I+II's are mine favourites too, all is easy on them like building, filling, control the air, cleaning and also can give clouds with taste, I like them so much that my fogger v4, kfl+, kf4, aqua v2 and russion91% and others are taking dust on their coloured FT stands lol.
And they also very good on low ohm builds too.

Lemo got nothing on this

Just kidding, sort of...

And "the naked truth"...The air ring hide to imperfect cut well.

Both sides are done this way. The wick slots are also widened to 3.2 mm, about right for 2.5 - 3 mm ni200 coil

I have to find the time (and the nerve) to try this slotting of the air holes. I've been really enjoying my Taifun again with the GT2 base. Such an improvement in the draw vs the GT1 base.

(I drilled out The GT-I also for GT-II it's not needed (for me) with the air holes open it's just right.
Taifun did a good job on the GT-II not inventing the wheel again but just improved version 1.)

sry nervous finger pressed 2 times I think ;)
