Yeah, definitely looks like a bad board. They had a few in their earlier builds.
Contact VF and they will make it right in short order.
Outcome: he instructed me to do the fix in the
dna 40 data sheet... I could have sent it in but I'm pretty handy...
Removed
batteries
Removed 4 screws slowly lifted it up so as not to disturb the 510 connection wires...
Took some liquid electrical tape and let it dry so it's a little solid... Took a toothpick and slid some of the more solid stuff between the ribbon and the board...
Rolled up a piece of electrical tape and put it between the oled and the side wall by one of the screws to push the oled display into alignment so it's no longer crooked either...
Reassembled and it all works now... No more occasional "Klingon" on the screen!
