Vapor Flask

I got my Gun metal flask in on friday.
I have the un even button situation going on, and its bugging the heck out of me..
the USB charging port is also extremly loose...
Im glad the previous posts cleared up the un even button thing, because i was
gonig to send mine back.

Mine did arrive with scratches on the bottom of the flask, on the 510 connector,
on the top of the flask, and on the side of the flask ...
i have major OCD about scratches and weird irregularities.

For the 300$ i paid for this, i dont feel as if it was worth the $ due to the imperfections that it has..
my friend has a hana dna40, and has 0 imperfections as i carefully observed it for a good hour..
no scratches, no weird buttons, etc.
If the QC was better, id pay the 300$ over again, but as it arrived, i can hardly justify paying
more than 200$ for it.

As a long term investment, i have a feeling that the dna40 chip will only be temporary, for i feel it will eventually
die within a matter of months.. I feel evolve might have rushed this, and QC was pretty iffy..

I hope so. For the money I definitely expect better. If you give me mass produced quality then I want a mass produced price to go with it.
I really want to like this thing! The feel in the hand is great but the flaws are too much. For the cost of this thing I should be loving it and I'm not :(
Screw this, I'm staying with Mechs.

haha I hear ya! Very little that can go wrong with a mech (in most cases)!! If VF can fix mine quickly I'll likely keep it. We shall see...I really want to like mine too, so I was bummed when TP didn't work right!! :(

With the blemishes you describe $50 bucks would be too much for me. Yours is the second one I have read about in this thread that came with complementary scratches. There is just no excuse for that - whatsoever !!!

I feel you pain and would suggest you call them and see what they are willing to do to correct your problems.

I don't know how long the dna-40 will be around but I'll bet the ones that are around for more than six months will be running Kanthal in none TP mode and for $300 dollars that is a pretty expensive normal mode device. Ni200 is just so darn hard to work with and the amount of wire you have to use makes the fit in most attys almost impossible.

i Would call to tell them about the scratches, but i already put a JWRAPS clear vinyl wrap over it..
Im honestly going to go for a hana dna40 if i do get a refund though..
dont get me wrong, the flask is nice, considered high end, but with all the problems, like the scratches it came with,
potential problems with the dna 40 board, weird sharp threading, etc, i feel it isnt worth it..

I may be too nit picky about the scratches, because they are "ghost scratches" where they are very light
and can only be seen up close... but the marks on the side of the top cap of the flask are no excuse.
I sure hope mine isnt re furbished... if it was, i think they should advise consumers that they are selling
re furbished flasks and should sell them cheaper than a new one...
200$ for a refurbed one will do it because itll have scratches, dents, dings, etc

As far as the wrap I have never used one but I am sure you can peel it off even if you need to use a little lighter fluid to get remove any sticky stuff left behind.

I don't disagree with anything you have said I just know that for me when I pay that much for a MOD it should be at leas (mechanically) as good as some of the high-end Mechs... finish and threading.

That said my OCD would go over the top is I found scratches on mine when I first opened it. After all part of the reason I purchased from VapinArt was the "Art" i.e. quality, beauty and functionality.

I have had my black flask for about 2 weeks from vapinart. It seems everybody else says the bottom button sticks out, mine is actually the top button that sticks out. Doesn't bother me to badly but it is what it is.

If everyone's bottom button stuck out I'd say it's by design. If it is indeed by design perhaps the buttons were installed in an upside down configuration...which QA should have caught.
I really don't see a need for one to stick out so "you can feel them". What did keep happening is the wattage gets changed because the button is so sensitive and gets hit accidentally quite easily.

got mine 2day..the charging port is rather loose.. when I push in the charge lead it actually move in.. normal?

"Normal" - hmmm...

It is for the VaporFlask but it is the only USB device I have (and I have a lot) that does wobble like that.

That said I don't think it will cause any problems. The USB connector is soldered directly to a small printed circuit board. You can see a picture of the USB board assembly on the Evolv site. It is my opinion that the circuit board itself is mounted loosely allowing the whole assembly to move a little. I don't think the integrity of the USB connector itself is harmed by the small movement.

Don't misunderstand me I am not defending the sloppy build just my thoughts on any potential for failure.

Apparently it's normal. Look back a few posts and you'll see a good explanation of it.
Can't say I've ever seen a USB device with the port that loose but it's by design it seems.

agreed, this is my first dna device that has a wobbly usb charging port...
i hope this isnt the case: QC skipped over the wobbly usb port and weird buttons,
but realized they werent that much of a problem, so they just claim it was by design..

if you ask me, thats a WEIRD design to make a USB connection that wobbly..
and to have the buttons irregular. It'd look much better both being flush, and one
having a different texture than the other.
At certain angles the usb connector looks weird too..
for example, plug the usb in, take it out, and see what it looks like..
one end might stick out further than another end, etc.

EDIT: I did confirm myself that both the USB and the up and down buttons are like that
by design. Many seem to be having the same problems as me, if not other problems,
id highly recommend you to talk to Preston he's is extremely helpful =)

I'm feeling a little better JP but still would have like to seen some better QC on this thing.
First thing I screwed on was a Spheroid and it went on just fine. Tried my Heron and it wouldn't screw down. It fits fine on any other mod so I checked the threads, ran a toothbrush over them and still had to work it back and forth a bit to get it worn in but it finally seated. No big deal, I'd say the tolerance is pretty tight which isn't a bad thing.

ETA: Here's mine...

I had the same problem with mine, it's fine on my other dna40s though. I've got a really weird build in it currently, im still trying to find my sweet spot with the heron/dna40 set up. The rose and magma are just so good I don't ever feel motivated to mess with the heron.

The bottom button on mine is slightly protruding also, but this is by design according to VF. I'm actually a fan of usb floating in place like it is. It makes properly align the cord when plugging it in, where the fixed ones you could force the connector in and damage the port.

The misaligned top would be enough for me to demand a refund, or a replacement. The hitting temp protected at 10W though I bet is a build issue.

Any fellow flask owners seen similar oddities with older batteries? Bueller?

Just a heads-up to fellow 'Flask owners:

Just had a long discussion with Charlie about the oddities with lack of responsiveness with older batteries. He said that he'd seen a similar issue with his personal unit (an older DNA30) but it'd stopped and he hadn't been able to reproduce. As I have new batteries en route, we agreed that I'd test with those new batteries and let him know if the issue persists.

Separately, I let him know that there were a lot of questions and frustration here on ECF, not only among VaporFlask owners, but with DNA40 users in general. He indicated that they have a Social Media rep that should be coming here soon to address some of the questions about what's normal and not.

Although I'm no longer a Flask owner I would definitely love to hear what they've got to say.
I really want to like this device!

I do agree the battery fitting is ridiculous. Hmm let's see at least one of the ONLY 3 batteries you can use are discontinued (VCT5's). There's no reason whatsoever for the battery holes to be this small. There are much better ways to handle battery rattle if that's their reasoning.
I bought brand new LGHE2's and both were a little too snug for my liking.

This is going to sound stupid but I remember when my bats were low the VF behaved strangely. I don't remember exactly what it was and when I put fresh batteries in the flaky stuff went away.

One problem I do have with batteries is the Bat charge level indication. It is all over the place when I put it up at night it may be reading ~90%. The next morning when I hit the fire button to wake it up it may read ~25% and as I use it (lets say 15 to 20 minutes) the bat indicator will creep back up to ~80 to 90%.

I find that behavior very strange. I am on a set of bats that should be close to half full and I am going to run it until it says low bat and see if I experience any strange behavior.

I am so disappointed in my V.F. I really thought I was buying a Cadillac but some how I ended up with a Ford Edsel. Makes a guy feel like he has been suckered.
