I hope you get it back by xmas too!!

I just was emailing with Preston a bit earlier. He told me that they went ahead and replaced the chip in my unit just to be safe....should have it back late this week/early next week I hope...glad they decided to replace the chip. At least now I can be sure that it'll come back to me running correctly!! :)

Sorry, I don't mean to double post but you seem to frequent this thread and I was hoping you could shed some light on all these manufacturing defects I'm reading about in this thread?

I had the screen issue w my vf. emailed and got the rma form from Jamie. Sent the flask on a saturday. They received it tuesday. Jamie and I exchanged about 1 email per day for the first few days. very friendly. Then radio silence from 11/25- 12/4. So instead of replying to the email thread I sent a new email to them and I included my phone number. Within a couple hours I got a call from Charlie, the owner of the company. He apologized for the communication issue and said he would get it sorted and email me asap. This was at about 6 in the evening. Around 10 am the next morning he emailed me saying my flask would be here the next day and a tracking number. Got my vf back the next day. And once again I'm loving this device.

Did you receive the device initially with the screen issue or did it develop over time?

Was finally able to connect with Vapor Flask customer service and started the process to get my Vapor Flask repaired. Gonna need a whole new aluminum shell so it's going to cost, but at least I'll have my precious back in working order. Ya know, eventually.

Again, don't drop your flask people!

Thats unfortunate. I felt the VF was a pretty solidly built device capable of surviving a fall (not that I'm willing to test it....LOL).

I'm stoked...got a brand new VF DNA40 on it's way to me. Should have it in a couple of days. Now I'm gonna have to learn about temp control and nickel builds. Just when I mastered kanthal. I have to say the folks at VF have certainly impressed me with their customer service. Thanks and shout out to Preston and Jamie! I know there have been a lot of issues and a lot of flasks sent back in for various problems all I can say is have patience these guys will take care of you and make things right. They are seriously committed to the VF community and stand by their product.

I'm sure it is pretty durable, but with two weak spots (that I unfortunately discovered). The walls of the battery tube are "relatively" thin, so if you drop it on a hard surface just so, so that it hits the bottom edge, it will bend the tube in ever so slightly. The battery cap will then be jammed into place and, given the tight tolerances we're all aware of, your battery will be trapped.

And for reference, it fell out of my coat pocket from about 2.5-3 feet onto the poured concrete floor of a Home Depot.

The more you know... [emoji293]

Just received my Vapor Flask.
It came in rather bland packaging, but it was well protected so I didn't care too much about that. Thankfully, the DNA chip is completely functional without the screen glitches, but one of the screws securing the top plate is loose...
As a result, the top plate is slightly uneven, with one side securely sealed down and the other side doesn't quite sit flush, just by a hair.
The MicroUSB charging port is HORRID, the port is not secured to the casing, so it wiggles and moves freely. I was worried I would dislodge it when I plugged in the cable to test the charging function. When removing the cable, I prayed I wouldn't rip out the entire port. This isn't a concern for me as I charge my batteries externally, but it's still a major QC concern. The battery slot closest to the firing button is a hair too tight, I have to violently shake the flask while slapping it against my palm to remove the battery, either that or use a tweezer to grab hold of the battery skin and drag it out. The other battery slot is perfect though. The threads are crunchy because the battery slot has no depth, I doubt you could use a button top with this mod.

All in all, it is a beautiful mod in concept and design, but the manufacturer has major quality control issues. Products should not be shipped until thoroughly tested.
I will still be keeping it, because I'm too lazy to go through the refund/exchange process. If the screw isn't stripped I will buy a hex key to screw it down to the top plate. I'll probably lightly lubricate the battery slot (not too much lol, just a rubbing), and I will be careful never to use the mirousb port. If the top plate doesn't screw down, then I'll pursue a refund and try my hand at a Hana mod or a VS rDNA. I'd rate this product a 7.5/10, would've been a 10/10 if it were free of defects, but the tight battery slot is a -2, the ....ty microusb port is a -0.5. If I can't screw the top plate back in, it's a 6/10 and I'm done with this device.

Dual 18650s + DNA chip + unparalleled aesthetic design, but it's an unfinished product in all honesty.

hyojah,

Watch out the screws are not hex screws. I don't know what they call them but they are different and if you us a hex wrench you may damage the screw.

As far as the USB port I agree with you it is very poor mounting. Here again it is not quite as bad as you think. The USB port is soldered down to a small pc board what is wobbling is the PC board it is mounted to. I now six of one half a dozen of an other but like you I never plan to use it. My opinion is you could use it and not worry about it breaking but it just shouldn't be that way and I am even more amazed they haven't fixed it there sure have been enough people mention it.

I wanna give a huge shout out to vapor flask... I had sent my vapor flask to evolv for rma... I have tracking and delivery confirmation... And they lost it! Well I got a call from Vf today... They are replacing it for me! Great service... I've been without mine for almost a month now... I miss it :-(

I guess I spoke too soon... After promised Friday by Charlie that it'll go out last Friday it still has not arrived nor has been picked up by the post office... It's been 2 days short of one full month since I sent mine in for rma!!!! I guess that's what I've come to expect out of these companies... Just poor form very poor form

Both my VF top plates are secured with hex screws. 1.3mm or 0.05" to be exact. I've had the plates off several times.
And no, they are not ball hex, but standard flat hex.

Maybe they changed things recently. I have a VF dna30 and the first release of the DNA40. By the way, both work perfectly.

hyojah,

The "wobbly" USB port is actually by design. It has to do with the "sled" used to mount the USB port. It is made of ABS plastic which I guess has some give to it. I have been reassured by VF themselves that this is completely normal. So it's not like some are wobbly and others are not; they are all like that.....From what I gather, this does not translate into weakness in the way the USB port is mounted....

Sorry to hear about the loose hex screw though....hopefully just socking it down will resolve that issue for ya.....What kind of batteries are you using?

sedge, mine has some kind of fancy screws as I said I don't know what they are called but they look like a regular Hex head with some fine notches where the flats would be in a regular Hex head screw. It make the hole sort of look like a "Star Pattern". Apple uses them to prevent mere mortals from open up the computers and phones. I have seen the proper wrenches for sale but I don't own any.

PS - I Googled it and got lucky the screws on mine VF DNA40 is Torx key socket.

I was just going to say Torx when you said star. Torx are rather common. VF changed it up since I got mine.

Here is a wiki on screw head types.

I use Wiha

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002...id=1418353004&sr=8-12&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70

But there are less expensive sets

Security heads are a different story but you can get a nice set on Amazon. I got this when I had to fix my kids Happy Meal toy. I've found it useful many times over.

Thanks for the links. I really need to get a set of the Torx. They are used on a lot of stuff these days and I never have the right tool (Not that I am thinking about opening my VF ;) ).

Welcome to the glamorous world of VF ownership. I have/had the exact issues in some combination on my original and replacement flasks. Off center top plates, uneven battery tubes, and a USB port I won't go near. Plus the handful of other cosmetic issues I ended up having to live with.

Is anyone else having issues with the up/down buttons looking like ..... after a couple months of use? The fire button, which is apparently made of some exotic material in a far away land, looks perfect. The two front buttons? Not so much. They look to be chrome plated brass, and whatever plating was on them is, well, no longer on them in spots. My mod has had what I would consider less than typical use over 2 months or so, I just don't think they should look this bad after that short a time, especially with how infrequently they even get used (In my case at least).

Anyone else on a road to dull bare metal wattage up/down buttons?
