Got my VF back yesterday and everything looks good.
Vapinart handled it very well. I asked if they'd make sure I got a good one and they did. I got a call Monday from their tech Herman and he said they had 2 Flasks. A silver one which is what I'd originally ordered but the top button stuck out more than the lower or a gun metal with even buttons. I took the gun metal although I am worried that the anodizing will look like crap after some use but oh well.
I will say if you look at it from the side you can still see the bottom button sticking up just ever so slightly but I'm not worried about it.
I'm happy with it this time so now I guess it's time to dive in and learn about this DNA40 thing :)

Excellent! Glad you ended up with a good one finally! I am still waiting to get mine back from VF. Hopefully soon!

Let us know how you like building with nickel..... :)

After reading all the various problems the VP has, I just can't see spending $300 of this ... This thing is just not worth that kind of money.

I'm waiting for the Chinese clones

fastech has cloned the v1 7-35w but not the 40 YET! but im sure it wont be long and it was only $56.00. wow you could buy a evolve 40 chip and install it yourself for a dna40d flask for under $120.00 if you wanted one real bad

So far...I'm not but I'm still working on it.
It's acting weird. Ni200 build and most of the time it shows volts instead of temp. Have it set to 15 watts but while vaping it I'm seeing wattage hit 39.9w and switching back and forth between volts and temp.
This is with spaced coils, 28g Ni200 reading at .17ohm and set to 400 degrees @15 watts.
I'm figuring for now it's my build and not the DNA. I'll try another contact coil later and see how it does.

its your build for sure. contact coils dont work very well either. usually when it jumps back and forth between volts and temp you have a bad post connection or 510 connection. you have to really tighten the post screws down to just before they clip the wire to get it to work right, thats why i twist 2 strands of ni200 wire above 28g though

I received an email from Jamie on Wednesday with shipping info. Checked the USPS site all day yeasterday and then this morning. It said "Pre-shipment information Sent to USPS". There was no movement so I emailed Jamie back asking what was going on. The response stated that they had left it on their desk under a box, had just found it and it would go out today. Mine's been gone since 11/12.

To make things even better, on Thursday my second out of 3 VF40s started having screen issues. This is after over a month's use without any problems. So I'm shipping that one to VF this afternoon.

Same here and they gave me a similar excuse... After this one I don't think I'll be buying from them ever again

Bah! I can not get a Ni build to work. Just built a beautiful micro 11 wraps of 28g on a Spheroid and it says Check Atomizer. I know the connections are tight.
This is gonna take some time...
On a better note I'm sitting here with Spheroid full of Boba's with a 1.0 micro in kanthal at 15 watts on it and it's pretty damned awesome :D

hyojah,

The "wobbly" USB port is actually by design. It has to do with the "sled" used to mount the USB port. It is made of ABS plastic which I guess has some give to it. I have been reassured by VF themselves that this is completely normal. So it's not like some are wobbly and others are not; they are all like that.....From what I gather, this does not translate into weakness in the way the USB port is mounted....

Sorry to hear about the loose hex screw though....hopefully just socking it down will resolve that issue for ya.....What kind of batteries are you using?

Trying to charge my VF for the first time, now I got a problem.

My micro usb port is extremely "wobbly", to the point where after I plug it in I have to press the usb head against something at the right angle (a toaster in this case) to get the red charging light to come on.

I'm thinking of inserting two slivers of hot glue onto both sides of the port then melting them with a soldering iron, actually did that with a custom front panel I made on a PC I built years ago when the port was still new. Then again there were no electronics behind that port. I don't know the internal configuration of the VS although I doubt the case would get more then a little warm.

One thing I can say is the anodizing on my gun metal has been very durable. It does have a few nicks in it, but they're tiny, and a couple were in the finish when I got it.

Biggest problem I see with the GM versions is that with the silver and black it would be very easy to touch up small nicks that develop over time. The GM finish, not so much. I think it's is a really nice looking finish, especially having seen all 3 colors side by side, but that's obviously a subjective thing.

Food for thought. I had the same debate, the fact that the silver would look better longer wasn't enough to make me go away from the GM finish, and that's not a choice I regret after a couple of months now.

We'll see how it goes. I'm mostly worried that my wedding band will scratch it when I do hold it in my left hand.
I'm right handed but vape with either hand depending on the situation

Well that didn't last long. Can't hit it for more than a few seconds before TP kicks in. Damn this chip is way too finicky.

Hey Kiwi,

Same ole same ole... as someone posted a little earlier the DNA40 is just too finicky but when it's being good it is really good. [did I plagiarize that from May West]

Ahh yes yes. Assuming the chip's working right + all connections to the coils are solid and snug, 2mm x 1mm orings are your best friend when using atties with adjustable 510 :) I've been running my 3 atties with my dna40 device and haven't had a single hitch in a loooong time

Hahahhah hahahahaahha you gobbled the hook alright!

But really, I reaaaaaaaaally hope you get a great unit and don't have to deal with any RMA issues at all.

I mean tbh, crappy threads, uneven buttons and wobbly usb (apparently by design, but you would've alrdy known about it when you purchased it), and questionable CS at time, I can see why folks would absolutely love the flask. It IS a sweet mod. Even I can't deny that. All the best!!!

Ps: im pretty sure the threads are STILL gonna be goddang awful. Use my Vaseline trick to get it smooth as a baby's buttom!

ETA: I wasn't being sarcastic at all when I said I understand why folks would love the flask. Just re-read it and realized how much of an azz I sound like. I actually honestly think that the flask is a sweet looking mod and feels great in hand
