interesting chatter, guys!

one point: Evolve explained they didnt have reverse polarity protection, because at the time ( it may have been solved by now, or their next iteration ) the dna 30 board does a deeper testing of the battery.. not just .. "oh.. you have 3/4 volts left" kinda thing.. and reverse polarity would have added diodes.. that would have prevented that level of testing of battery. ( as I recall from the pbasardo video I think )

in the end.. this is a responsibility thing. yes, its potentially catastrophic.. yes, the user has to own some of the risk... yes, even moi~ is capable of screwing up.. but I always double and triple check I have it aligned properly.. lets hope I maintain that sense of care when approaching battery changes!

and thats why I added my PSA for the new peeps!

huggles all around!

Ya thats the whole point of the rDNA style for me anyway... micro USB charging! F carrying around spare battery's and chargers. All I need is the same thing I use to charge my cell phone and bam, vaping. Honestly, the 18650 and micro USB are what sold me, I dunno about you guys. Once mine is returned from warrenty work, I never plan to open it again, unless I find a legit VTC5 to swap for that little bit of extra juice.

Update on warranty work: Got my shipping home notice today- They replaced the 510 threading, power pin, new battery (Thought I had a fake) and LED color circle. All replaced and hopefully my issues are fixed now. From mailed to home in about 8days max (including a weekend)

As long as my issue were fixed, Id say that is some top notch service that will get return business.

Edit: Still on the hunt for a Blackberry case or the likes to clip onto my pocket / belt w/e that I can carry this bad boy around with me. I know there is a case like this out there somewhere!

Totally random comment. I pull my battery up off one of the terminals while leaving it in the device. Grab my other battery hold it next to it make sure the polarity and markings are all matching pull out the one to recharge and put the other one in.

- I match the positive terminals with the markings... Then I recite my mantra... "Positive is down...positive is down....positive is down...":)

I was looking at a "Hipzbag" on Amazon. It says it's 6x6x1. I'm trying to decide if that size will work for me.

I wonder if a belt clip from something else, like a glasses case could be used with a Sharky skin?

Ive been pondering trying to craft something myself from like a pager housing and some kinda cloth or material, however, I think a Blackberry case would be perfect, if we could just find one with the right dimensions.

Edit: Since I don't have mine handy, what are the dimensions of the shark?

Coming from mech mods and a seven22, I'm pretty used to being a little paranoid about battery direction, though I have yet to open my VS. I did put a battery in the provari once the wrong way, but conveniently I didn't have to worry. Like others have said, I will probably only ever open my VS when I finally buy a Vtc5.

Wouldn't the positive terminal point downward so that the current runs through the chip before going through the 510 connection? I'm certainly no engineer it just makes sense if the screen is on the bottom of the mod like the VS.

I pulled the back off mine the day I got it and gave the wiring a quick once over. If mine fried, I could order a new board from evolve or fasttech and put it in in an hour or so, and I am by no means an electronics expert.

Vapor Shark doesn't use the EVOLV DNA boards in their stock form, there actually custom cut specifically for the VS cases because of the size & configuration. So replacing the DNA board in a VS yourself would require some serious skill. I'm pretty good at soldering & DIY electronics but the precision required to cut a DNA board properly for a VS case is WAAAY beyond my skills. I'm sure its possible but unless someone puts out a detailed tutorial on how to do it I wouldn't even attempt to replace the DNA30 board in my rDNA.

I very seriously doubt that - take a look at the 'retail' version of a genuine DNA30 below.
How much more could you cut that board down ?
Unless they have a specific layout for VS, which I highly doubt - Innokin, maybe...

Edit: For clarification the inspection report in the background is for the new calipers I got, not the DNA board.
I grabbed the board, took a picture and realized later this might cause confusion.

Or maybe it vents through the charging port?

Charging port, button holes, and removable back seam.

Blow in the USB port and you'll see how free the air moves.
Just don't go crazy and get it all steamy, and hot and bothered ;)

Regulated or not, all devices should be able to vent in the case of a runaway battery.

Called this morning and spoke with customer service. Was helped out by a guy named Brian. Told him my situation with the wrong sharkskin and asked if I can send him a picture of the invoice via email and he would take care of it right away. I sent the email early this morning around 10:30 PST and haven't heard back from him. Followed up at 3pm with another email asking about the first email I sent. Again nothing.

Called about 30 mins ago and spoke with Oscar. Told him I spoke with Brian and what he asked me to do and I haven't heard back. Oscar said he probably had already forwarded it to the shipping dept, etc. He must of forgot to reply and he should get back to me in the morning.

Honestly, in my experience so far, their customer service has been pretty crappy and they need to work on their communications skills. Pretty frustrated with this company. Sad because all of these issues are so simple.

Guess this would be a good question to ask VaporShark. I know evolve has made some chips for glueless installation in the PBusardo Evolv videos. Would be nice to know if you could get a chip from Evolv or VaporShark if you needed to replace it, and if it was built with different specs for installation.

I hear you. They do seem to respond to Facebook posts to keep appearances. Put your comment on there and they will answer. I know you have it in the the thread from your last post , but a separate post would have better luck. It is annoying that people have to revert to that. They really need to hire a bunch of people and straighten stuff out.
